New Japanese Restaurant - Edit
The restaurant is located inside a heritage building which gives that lovely vintage character to the place. The atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful - even with a full restaurant.
Read moreWe had the mushroom karaage, the silken tofu loaf, gyoza, ramen and the soy pudding for dessert. The taste was excellent and the substitutions worked very well for the traditional dishes. My favourite dish was the ramen - the noodles were just right and the soup was the perfect combination of cream and oil.
The service was exceptionally quick - I cannot say that I have been served that fast! I highly recommend for a wonderful dining experience.

Exquisite Broth - Edit
What a find. Expensive, but worth it. The ramen is spicy and complex and a great choice from the menu. I really liked my ramen and my husband, being a meat eater, thought that his was up there in the top three ramen soups he has ever had!

Great Meal - Edit
We arrived about 40mins before the kitchen closed and the restaurant was packed, however they were still happy to serve us once a table became available. The waiter was extremely helpful and went through every dish on the menu with us. We had the Karaage as well as the Si Chuan Tan Tan Men and the Premium Hemp Charcoal Soymylk Ramen. Everything was excellent! We preferred the Si Chuan Tan Tan Men which is the most popular dish. The soy meat in the dish was really tasty.

Had the Kyoto ramen, the broth was amazing got a depth I hadn't tasted before in other vegan ramens. Maybe an acid? Go here if you can spend $30 on a bowl

Towzen Sydney – A New Vegan Ramen Favourite - Edit
Towzen has quickly become my top pick for vegan ramen in Sydney since the closure of Lonely Mouth in Newtown. I’m genuinely excited to return and explore more of the menu!
Read moreFor around $80, I enjoyed a delicious spread:
• Truffle Ramen: A luxurious bowl with a truffle-infused walnut mylk broth that’s rich, earthy, and deeply comforting. The umami hit was perfect for a chilly evening—pure soul food.
• Yaki-Gyoza (6 pcs): Crispy, golden dumplings filled with a savory veggie mix. These were so tasty they had me doing a little happy dance between bites.
• Japanese Soymylk Pudding: Silky house-made pudding topped with kuromitsu (Japanese black sugar syrup). Honestly, this outshines both Vietnamese tofu pudding with ginger syrup and Chinese tau fu fa—so smooth and flavorful.
• Premium Kyoto Uji Matcha Strawberry Latte (Iced): A refreshing blend of vibrant Uji matcha and house-made strawberry purée. Easily one of the best strawberry matchas I’ve had—if only the cup were bigger! My straw did break halfway through, but the staff kindly replaced it. I’d definitely grab this as a takeaway if I’m nearby in the CBD.
• Cold Tofu with Sesame Dressing
Chilled silken tofu topped with rich sesame dressing, garnished with seaweed and tomatoes. This was the most umami cold appetiser dish I’ve ever had!!
• Thai Green Curry Ramen
A fragrant blend of fresh grilled vegetables, homegrown mushrooms, fresh walnut mylk, tangy green curry sauce and heart-healthy olive oil is paired with delicious ramen noodles. For those who enjoy an umami green curry with a mild spicy hit!
• Sparkling Yuzu (Iced)
Refreshing Japanese yuzu with sparkling water. I think out of all the yuzu drinks I’ve had so far, this has got to be the most refreshing and delicious version I’ve ever had 😄

Great whole ingredients - Edit
I ate solo at Towzen and was sat at a community table that was so silent it felt like I'd been transported right to Tokyo, where that kind of experience would be common. Everything about Towzen felt very Japanese, which suggests an authenticity (to the extent that word can be given any weight when talking about food) that was reflected throughout the meal.
Read moreI really enjoyed the lionsmane karaage and the soy milk pudding. The okra was nice enough, too, as a compliment to the larger meal. With the ramen, I loved the ingredients in the Kyoto Soy milk Ramen, especially the presumably homemade yuba which was fantastic. The ramen itself left a little to be desired for me. I've made a lot of homemade soy milk and it tasted, to me, less like a broth and more like heated homemade soy milk. I believe Kyoto ramens are much milder so it might be my selection at fault, and I'd love to go back and try another because again everything was quite fresh, the entire experience was memorably restorative, and the staff was kind and efficient.

Fabulous place to eat, great food that is worth the price. - Edit
What a wonderful place to eat! The ramen was fabulous and really filling and the manager sat and chatted with my whilst I ate, sharing the history of the brand from its routes in Japan.
Read moreI was initially hesitant as I am generally sticking to cheaper restaurants, but I really think I got my money's worth here. I went for the Si Chaun Tan Tan Men which i strongly recommend. I will be going back to try other dishes.
I would have tried the gyoza too but my budget couldn't stretch that far. The ramen was really flavourful and the soy broth gives it a unique flavour. The presentation was very impressive and I almost felt guilty messing it up with my chopsticks.
I'm a big ramen fan and this was among the best I have been served. Definitely one to try if you are in Sydney.
Pros: Great food, Friendly staff, Good portions

Incredible, high quality, beautiful food. - Edit
Gorgeous little restaurant with impeccable food. We shared three ramens between us and every single one was delicious. We also had the lions mane karaage which was out of this world. The staff are absolutely gorgeous, so welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about their food. The meal felt fresh and healthy, with good quality ingredients. If I could rate Towzen higher I would!

Fantastic authentic Japanese - Edit
Fantastic Japanese restaurant in the heart of Sydney central CBD. The food is incredibly delicious, authentic Japanese. We had two types of ramen, gyoza, rice and wonderful fresh drinks, matcha with strawberry puree and fresh sparkling yuzu. The staff and manager are extremely friendly and attentive. So wonderful to have a Vegan/plant-based Japanese restaurant in Sydney.

Fabulous ramen - Edit
I booked a trip to Sydney when I saw this place had opened as we don’t have fully vegan ramen in Melbourne. We arrived early as they don’t take bookings Thurs to Sun. Got a seat easily although it was filling up when we left just before 6. I ordered the Si Chuan Tan Tan Men.
Read moreIt was the perfect sized serving and I enjoyed the sesame, and peanut flavouring in oat milk. The vegetables included were great and the mildly spicy suited me. I also ordered Okra With House-Made Olive Oil Based Yuzu Mayo which was really nice.
My partner ordered the green curry ramen which he enjoyed. I ordered the sparkling strawberry and matcha as a drink. Very refreshing.
Worth the trip to Sydney.
Pros: Fully vegan, The flavours of the ramen

Outstanding vegan ramen 🍜 - Edit
Absolutely delicious vegan Japanese, could not fault anything. When we arrived the line was very long and we ended up having to wait around an hour and a half (arrived at 6:40pm on a Thursday), luckily we weren’t in any rush and it was absolutely worth the wait. In our group of four we had the tantanmen, truffle and mushroom ramen and the karaage lion’s mane set, as well as okra, gyoza, green tea and black sesame lattes. The tantanmen and truffle ramens were standouts but everything was incredible, would love to return.
