the vegan korean fried chicken i’ve been waiting for - Edit
we got here just before closing so we had to get the food as takeaway but it genuinely didn’t matter. i was doing happy dances the entire time while eating this and only let my friends try one piece each - otherwise i did in fact gobble up the entire share-sized portion by myself. no regrets. the batter was really flavourful - and even better when dipped into the sauce. the the texture was good even if it was little too spongey for what i would have wished. if i’m ever in seoul again i will definitely go back if possible

I was really happy to finally be able up enjoy Korean fried vegan chicken and beer, and the vegan chicken was really tasty. Since they use seitan the texture is really nice and the yangneom sauce was yummy.

We went in with high expectations because of the reviews and we were sorely disappointed! One of the worst chick'n we have ever tried. It was oily, had poor texture and lacked flavour. Not even the chili potato fries were good. On top of it all, the place is really small and the smell of frying is overpowering.

Delicious Korean Fried Chicken - Edit
I had my eye on Vampire Chicken pretty much as soon as we arrived in Seoul so I was excited to give it a try. The ordering process was pretty straightforward, you make your choices and fill them out on a slip of paper. The staff warned me that my choice of spicy bbq flavour was very spicy and suggested the spicy hot pot for something that was more of a medium spicy. We also got a peanut and chilli sauce too.
Read moreThe chicken was delicious. The coating was excellent, well seasoned and very crispy. The texture was enjoyable. It wasn't really trying to ape chicken like at Vegan Kitchen or Camouflage, it was clearly a well made piece of seitan that was enjoyable to eat. The spicy hot pot sauce was perfect for me, it had great flavour that on first taste didn't seem spicy but the heat grew in the moments after. The peanut sauce was also very good and was milder, with a little chilli kick to it. The food also came with some pickled radishes, mustard and salt.
It's a small place with only about 6-8 seats so be prepared for takeaway if it's busy. There's also a step up to get inside so it's not easily wheelchair accessible.

The vegan ch*cken was the best I've tried in Seoul (and I've tried a LOT). It was really tender on the inside and fried to perfection. You could have it with any of the sauces (all vegan, varying spiciness) and they brought out vegan Mac and cheese and a fried corn salad that I've never tried anywhere before but was super good! I read on here that the portion sizes are huge but since we're three hungry people we ordered two servings and wow... There was probably enough for at least 6 people, maybe more!! (Don't order less though, take some home yum yum). The staff there were also super friendly.

I made some rookie mistakes that I’m embarrassed to admit to. First, I forgot that fried chicken, like most meals in Korea, is a family affair. So while I thought this was maybe a little expensive for fried vegan chicken, I quickly learned that that was due to the portion size feeding a small village.
Read moreMy second mistake was forgetting that Korean ‘spicy’ is not the same as regular ‘spicy’. Korean spicy actually means staring at death and welcoming it like an old friend. It means riding a pale horse into the apocalypse. So when I ordered extra spicy bbq sauce (my order already came with it), I realized I had enough spice in front of me to build an improvised explosive.
All this to say, I ordered the vegan fried chicken with spicy bbq sauce, and I will not need order any more food until 2025.
Also I got this weird fried corn dish that was really tasty!

The fried chicken here is just okay. The texture of the chicken itself is not very realistic unlike other mock chicken I have had, though I will say it was very crispy on the outside, and it stayed crispy even after a 20 minute walk and throughout the whole time I ate it. I got the “seasoned spicy” flavor but it was not spicy at all, which was a big disappointment. Actually it didn’t taste like much, just a bit sweet. The serving is giant, enough for two people to share and be satisfied.
