Tasty and fun

The flavours pack a punch and give you something to talk about.

We really enjoyed our meal - they were beautifully presented with a lot of colour and they had some interesting food combinations which we devoured.

The set menu at $38 is definitely worth coming back for, especially given you can choose different permutations!!

Pros: Unique flavours cleverly packaged, Colourful, Affordable

Cons: the guacamole was slightly disappointing but not b

Very unexpected..

We were mixed between doing the dine in/the set menu and then decided to go with the set menu which was 38 dollars. The well known Kimusabi touch is definitely there. All of dishes were full of flavour! Can’t fault what was tasted on the palate. I think this would be a great place to take your non vegan loved ones. Customer service was divine.

Would love to try the cheeseburger spring rolls next time 😊

Pros: Decent priced set menu, Indoor and outdoor seating , Not far from Newtown station

Cons: Dine in menu can be pricey , Can get packed, Only open for dinner during the weekdays

Exceptional

Just enjoyed the extraordinary 7-piece set menu just $38. Every dish lovingly presented, huge on flavour and utterly delicious. The staff are so friendly and attentive despite the restaurant being absolutely full. Incredible -don’t miss it #Veganuary

Pros: Quality and variety of food, Great value, Wonderful desserts

Lovely tacos (me saying this as non taco-lover)

I don’t really like Tacos, but since I have heard they are the same owners as Kimusabi sushi (which unfortunately closed down temporarily) & took over the venue in Newtown, I had to try their tacos. The funny thing is a few of them are same as the sushi topping of the nigiri or maki fillings.
I ordered
Chicken
Korean bulgogi
Popcorn prawn - fav
Duck - fav
All very nice and flavourful and I love the guac as always! Also no coriander in the Gauc so highly appreciated
They have 4$ tacos on Tuesday and 15$ margs (don’t want to drink so don’t know if they’re good).
Great and same service as Kimusabi
Still think Kimusabi is better since it’s Japanese fusion and not mex 😂😅

Great service, great food

I had the stuffed zucchini flowers and they were amazing. Along with the bulgogi, chicken and duck tacos, which were just as delicious. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Very friendly service , Cozy location , Great food

One of the best in Sydney!

Very scrumptious food and big portions. We ended up ordering bit too much but ate everything. We had Birria nachos, very good and comforting, potato & chorizo empanada, huge and delicious, full of tasty stuffing and four different tacos: pr*wn, ch*cken, lam and eggplant. So tasty and filling! Tacos are really generous too.

A Decent Dining Experience with a Variety of Options

Vandal in Newtown offers a trendy ambiance with a modern, industrial vibe that appeals to a young crowd. While the menu boasts creative dishes and fusion flavors, the execution can be hit-or-miss. Some dishes stand out for their bold flavors, while others feel underwhelming or overpriced. It’s a decent spot for casual drinks and small bites, but there’s room for improvement to match its chic atmosphere.

Cons: Taste

Delicious set menu

We had booked for an 8pm dinner. It was very busy which I didn’t expect. It was quite noisy but our waiter explained the menu and we decided it was easier to go with the set menu for $38. The guacamole was nice and I liked the tomato. It was so fresh. The second course was ceviche tostadas with “tuna”. I wasn’t sure if I would like it but it was very nice. The next course was chargrilled corn. This was my favourite. There was a vegan white cheese on top of it and the corn was cooked perfectly, so juicy. After that we had a zucchini flower that was stuffed with “ricotta” which was delicious. Next on the course (yes there really were more courses!) was the wild mushroom quesadilla. They were generously stuffed with mushrooms and I loved the rocket with it. It added flavour and texture. For the final course was a taco and you could choose which one you wanted. I had the roasted celeriac katsu taco. I’ve never had anything like this before. The mayo and slaw just worked perfectly. I had a mocktail which I enjoyed and then we ordered a dessert of churros. 4 churros and coconut and caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. At first I thought they’d bought out 2 desserts. But it was just one dessert and very tasty and a huge serving!

The set menu was $38. It seems too good to be true! Very reasonably priced, flavourful food and nice staff.

It is noisy though so if you are sensitive to noise, it’s not the venue for you.

Cons: Noisy

Good food but mocktails missed the mark

Star of the meal was the grilled corn, hands down. It was a flavour bomb.
Tuna ceviche tasted like the real deal. Nachos knocked it out of the park.
Ask to add less chilli if you can't handle spice on the nachos.
We had the virgin margarita and the blood orange mocktail. They had too much ice and lacked in flavour.

Surprised but happy

I heard some good reviews but was a bit pessimistic. Really impressed with the kingfish - tasted like the real thing. The grilled corn was also great.

Affordable as well.

Pros: Fish dishes , Friendly vibe

Cons: A little let down by the guacamole

Uber cool

I’ve got to go again to try more things. So many different options and it’s across the road from the vegan cheese shop. My cup runneth over.

Super affordable

The 6 course menu is $38 which is a steal. It’s super filling too. Frozen lychee and coconut margaritas are also delicious! I recommend adding the cheese burger spring roll. The second course was probably the only let down. The vegan raw tuna is an acquired taste. If you are making a reservation just know that for every person that’s a no show it’s $35

Pros: Value , Filling , Location

Cons: Noisy, Booking fee

Nachos de clase mundial mis amigxs

If you haven't been here before, you are truly missing out and may as well be living in the subterranean village of Rockside.

Every item has been created with delicate care and attention. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, fair prices for decent serves and every dish an Orozco (1883-1949) you can taste and share will have me talking about Vabdal for weeks.

If you haven't heard of it (how have you not heard of it, Rocky?) or you have and still haven't been, (I'm kinda judging) let me share this with you, and only you: Book Now

Always a great choice especially for groups

Food is always delicious and impressive. The set menu is required for groups over 6 people and for $38 it's a pretty good option. We've taken omni friends here and they like it, I've never heard a bad word about Vandal, everyone leaves satisfied and happy with the creative and tasty dishes.

Pros: Food , Drinks, Vibe

Cons: 2 hour seating, felt a bit rushed, but fair

Fantastic!

A non vegan friend loved it more than I did! (and I loved it too!).

Go for the banquet menu to take the guess work out (we both got to choose our separate dishes within than menu as well)

Pros: friendly staff, amazing good, just good food, you don't even notice its vegan!

Cons: if you haven't been!

Awesome tacos, great place for groups

Vandal’s food is very tasty and features creative vegan twists on traditional Mexican cuisine such as the ceviche and cheeseburger spring rolls (my fave). It has a lovely atmosphere and friendly service. A perfect place to take groups of friends to introduce them to vegan food!

Pros: Great for sharing, Fun vibes

Nice food, but bad communication and clarity

Ordering shared apps for the meal, everything was quite nice, but portions were smaller than other similar places. Next time I’d get the set menu and I think that would have a bit more food. Update; Set menu is nice but $44/pp is quite a bit pricier than other options and not reflected in value or taste and it was only 38 on the menu? Went with a big group and half of us were charged different amounts for the same set menu.

Cannot fault them. Their dishes are all vegan, creative - so much you have to take a double take to make sure it’s actually vegan! Friendly staff. Set menu is plenty of food at $35. Highly recommend.
