Vegan
21 Oct 2022

Nice to have vegan options in downtown Hirosaki, but I wish they would offer vegan soup&bread

This shop opened up last year in 2021 and I was immediately curious about it because the name implied it was vegetable-based which made me wonder if they might have things I could actually eat!

I finally went this year and although there is no vegan labeling on the menu (a change I suggested) there are vegan options. They offer lunch and dinner, but I've only been for lunch. I assume the menu is similar. The lunch consists of a salad of your choice with a dressing and additional toppings of your choice, bread, soup, and dessert. However, the bread, soup, and dessert are not vegan (or at least, they weren't on the day that I went).

I ordered a number 4 salad without egg. It comes with soy meat, nuts, etc. and I added beans and tofu as additional toppings. I chose the Ruby Dressing as it was the one they said was vegan-friendly.

They gave me a complimentary side of mushrooms to make up for the lack of bread and soup, and they gave me apple slices instead of the non-vegan dessert.

The salad is very big and quite filling even without the bread and soup. Personally, I would love it if the salad were a little bit smaller and there was a kind of soup/bread that was vegan that I could eat. But it was good and I will probably go again when I'm in the mood for something healthy.

There isn't much in this part of town for vegans, so I am glad to have an option in downtown. It's cool that they're open at night too because there are very few choices around here at night.

Oh! And you can get free refills on dressings (and bread, but it's not vegan)

Pros: Tastes good, Big salad, very filling, They have many topping options including soy meat

Cons: bread, soup, and dessert (usually) are not vegan, no vegan labeling on the menu
