There's also a fridge stocked with ready-made drinks and a few grab-and-go items. Est. 2017 in the Napili Plaza shopping center near Napili Market. We found A'a Roots Health Cafe on Happy Cow. My family and I made sure to visit while staying in Ka'anapali. This place was a delight. Funny thing is that we met an employee two days before while in Lahaina. We saw him again at the restaurant. This place is heavenly. Very eclectic and unique. Each of us tried something different. We enjoyed everything we ate. I would probably eat here everyday if I lived in Napili. This place is a must if you want to eat healthy.

I want to move to Maui just so I can be a regular customer here. The food was really beautiful--a feast for the eyes. It was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. Great vibe. I went back to my hotel and told the concierge to send everyone here!

This cafe is absolutely phenomenal!!! The food was so delicious (I got avocado toast, but tried some of my family’s meals!) & the atmosphere is really inviting!! With the entire restaurant being vegan, it’s so nice to be able to have such a variety of delicious options! Everything was fresh & cooked perfectly & the staff were so friendly! The only downside was that near the t-shirts, there were piles of fresh bananas that were home to many large spiders, so if you’re scared of that, avoid that area! A little pricey but that’s to be expected with a place sourcing fresh produce! I can not recommend enough!

Go here if you are on Maui! By far the most fresh delicious vegan food. Loved the beautiful presentation of each dish. We had fresh spring rolls, breakfast burrito and soba noodle bowl. Everything was out of this world delicious!

This is without a doubt one of the best restaurant/cafes I have ever visited, not only when it comes to food but also the service and the overall vibe. When this place came up on Happy Cow while I was here on vacation, the great reviews already set my expectations very high. Yet, when I actually visited the place, I was still beyond impressed, and ended up going there every day for 6 days in a row. Everything from the smoothie bowls and Sunday waffles, to the bagels and Buddha bowls tasted absolutely phenomenal, and everyone was super friendly. If you’re in the area, DEFINITELY stop by!

Yummy food. Everything is fresh and the environment is super friendly. Honestly everything was amazing, the only thing that bugged me was the smell. It smelt really bad in there. Maybe I just went on the wrong day? I don’t know. It was just hard to eat such delicious food while smelling something so gross. But if the smell doesn’t bother you- go and eat here! The food is amazing and so fresh!

We stopped here during our stay in Maui, had the soba noodle bowl and tofu scramble bowl, and brought home raw choc PB pie. It was busy when we went there, Small sitting space but worked out. Definitely recommend!

5 happy cows for this restaurant. Essentially the only fully vegan restaurant in Maui! Super stoked for all the options they offer. Portion size is more than filling. Food has great flavor. The staff is very friendly. We plan to eat here for most meals the week we are in Maui.

Read moreI’d label this as a lunchtime bistro-type restaurant with a walk-up counter and a case of prepackaged local Maui vegan goods.
The menu included many sections such as bowls, smoothies, juices, smoothie bowls, toast, etc.! Their pre-packaged goods in the cooler included everything from coconut kefirs, to spreads, tapioca pudding, and raw pies.
What we purchased:
* Coconut tapioca pudding
* Strawberry guava tapioca pudding
* Macadamia nut chocolate spread
* 2 types of raw pies
* Caesar salad
* Burrito bowl
* Avocado toast
* Tofu scramble bowl
* 2 fresh juices
* 3 stainless steel straws
Overall, the food was good! The caesar didn’t disappoint, along with the juices, burrito bowl and avocado toast. The raw pies were good as well, not my fave, but definitely impressive for being raw (which is not my preference).
The tapioca is not too sweet which was nice!
Only 2 things slightly disappointed, the tofu scramble bowl and the price point of it all.
The tofu scramble bowl was BEAUTIFUL, don’t get me wrong! Even had some beautiful edible flowers on it. Only critique was that it really was a scoop of scramble on a bed of mixed green lettuce with some fresh tomato on top. It was good, but not filling enough for the $15 (or around there) price tag. The scramble also didn’t have any veggies or anything in it, just tofu and spices, and was quite watery in itself. Taste was there, just was left disappointed.
As mentioned above, the price point was quite steep, with it being around $10 for avocado toast, and $13-15 for any kind of bowl. This would be totally expected in a full-serve restaurant, but was a little disappointing in a counter-style takeaway restaurant.
Overall, I had a great experience at a’a Roots! I also love how they refuse plastic straws (woohoo) and use paper instead! That’s my kind of place.
Mahalo a’a Roots, hope to see you again on a trip back to Maui!

Avocado toast was delicious, not to mention pretty. And the vegan Caesar was also yummy!
A good selection of pre-made foods to-go such as wraps, noodles, chia puddings and even vegan tapioca!
Also if you’re anti-plastic straw like me, as should everyone be tbh, they serve all their juices and smoothies with paper straws, and even sell paper and stainless steel straws if you’re looking to bring sustainability with you on the go!
Once again happy cow didn’t disappoint me with this veg recommendation:)

a’a Roots was an amazing place to eat. The food was beautiful and delicious. In fact, we had to go back a second time before our Maui trip was over. I would eat here multiple times a week if I lived in the area. They have daily specials, and lots of to-go items. They look very active on Instagram. The staff were all very friendly and warm.

I didn’t think this was very pricey, since Maui is just expensive overall. It was worth it.
