Delicious lunch! - Edit
I just went here by accident because it is in the same building as the Nirvana (where I really intended to eat). But I just entered the first open door and walked the stairs up. The Nirvana door was the next one downstairs... But I was gladly surprised!
Read moreInexpensive, tasty, stylish. The food was really very good and filling! Only the staff could have been nicer (not too friendly at all)... And they don't speak English. I know this is not a touristic spot, but anyway.
Pros: Food, price, atmosphere
Cons: Staff - no English and unfriendly

Nice place to have everyday lunch - Edit
More like a cafe than a restaurant, closed on weekends. Located in an area in the centre of Riga where there are many places for having lunch. From outside it doesn’t look so attractive but once you enter and get to the second floor you’ll find it. Nothing fancy nor trendy but worth trying. Atmosphere is peaceful, decorations are personal and there’s always a free tables available.
Read moreInexpensive, simple but tasty vegetarian food, also many gluten-free options. Dishes vary from day to day but usually you can find daily soup, lentils, beans, rice, veggies, patties, soya, rice, different fresh salads, papadum, tea, etc. You can see the daily options through a glass and then choose.
The staff can be quite unfriendly and they don’t always know English very well, so be prepared.
Pros: Simple, tasty vegetarian food, Good location , Peaceful atmosphere
Cons: Unfriendly staff, Communication problems, No up-to-date menu or labeled dishes

Nice, inexpensive, good - Edit
"Ajurveda Kafejnica" is located on the upper floor of a traditional, two-storey wooden house. It is quite spacious and nicely decorated in an oriental / Indian style, with a big Buddha statue in the main room.
Read moreThe kitchen is mainly Indian, with some local influence. The food - to be selected from the bar- is inexpensive and good, with vegan options. I had a yummy vegan curry with fresh vegetables and served with (I think) buckwheat, and a freshly made carrot juice. The vegan dessert of that day was already gone, so I had to skip the dessert. Since the main course was quite filling, I did not regret this too much.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really liked the place!
Pros: good food, friendly staff, inexpensive
Cons: could use some more vegan options

Good vegetarian restaurant - Edit
This is a good vegetarian choice. The food is cafeteria style such as in Rama where the food has been cooked ahead of time and is kept hot in containers. There are several vegan choices such as the lentils, tofu, vegetable dishes, etc. The environment is nice and it is fairly big inside. Across the hallway is a small store selling Tibetan items and the restaurant itself is usually burning incense. Depending on who is working there, there may or may not be a fluent English speaker but it is not a problem as usually at least one of the customers knows English and will help. The containers of food are right in front of you, behind a glass partition and they will remove the covers so you can see what the food is before buying it.
