Serves meat, vegan options available. The flagship branch of a small chain of bagel restaurants, serving fresh bagels made on site, as well as hot and cold sandwiches, salads, stir fries, pasta, soup, full breakfast meals, and many baked goods. The various vegan dishes are clearly marked on the menu, and other dishes can be made vegan by omitting egg or cheese. Open Mon-Thu 6:30am-11:00pm, Fri 6:30am-4:00pm, Sat 7:00pm-11:30pm, Sun 6:30am-11:00pm.

Bad Bagels Bad Experience

As a kid growing up in New York, I always looked forward to my dad coming home with a big brown baf filled with warm bagels covered in seeds, and this place makes me miss New York so much more.
Calling what they serve "Bagels" is an affront to the bagel community.
The only thing Bagel Cafe's bagels have in common with a good New York Bagel is that they are round with a hole in the center.
The bagels here are small, not filling, low on seeds, with zero crunch on the outside. While Jerusalem is not known for it;s bagels this place lowers the bar to a new and abysmal level.
Also, the couple of times I went they did not have a single vegan spread. Not even Avocado Salad. NOTHING. When I said I was vegan and asked what can be put on the bagel, they told me vegetables. How is it that in the most Vegan country in the world, they can't have a soy or tofutti cream cheese around? Why will Holy bagel do it, but not them?
Also if you are bagel place, where a ton of people eat breakfast. How do you only have 2 types of Juice? Is it crazy to think that people will want a juice such as apple juice with their breakfast?!?
While personally I've never tried any of their hot entrees, When i want bagels, despite living super close to Bagel Cafe I prefer driving 30 minutes each way clear across the city to not have to eat their miserable excuse for bagels.

Most vegan-friendly restaurant on Emek Refaim

With Emek Refaim becoming increasingly less vegan-friendly in recent years, Bagel Cafe has become one of our family's "go-to" spots, especially when dining out with friends in the neighborhood. While I'd like to see more vegan options on the menu, the current offerings are quite enjoyable. My favorite is the sabich salad, for which they're always happy to substitute the egg with another veggie. We also like the sweet potato salad and the roasted vegetable bagel sandwich, and my kids love the very filling vegan breakfast. Almost every meal comes with a bagel, and they're usually generous in providing vegan-friendly spreads. The service is a bit underwhelming, but the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable.

Pros: Sufficient vegan options, Kitchen is flexible on switching ingredients, Plenty of comfortable seating

Cons: Service is often unfriendly and inefficient
