The baos themselves are bigger than your average bun, so soft and fluffy!
Read moreMy favourite is the crispy ‘beef’ bao- it’s delicious 😋 The crispy texture compliments the soft bun perfectly and the sticky ginger glaze is balanced so well with the pickles on top. Great attention to detail.
The home-made kimchi is also a great combo with the ‘beef’!

I eat at Bao Selecta in Cardiff Market every time I visit Cardiff.
Read moreI first visited about 3 years ago, I didn't realise that they were totally Vegan. I had finished both a chicken Bao and a spicey beef Bao, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I went back over to thank them for these delightful flavour bombs, when I carefully read the menu amd realised that they contained, no beef, no chicken and no animal products of any kind.
I have taken friends there and bot told them the food is vegan amd every single one of them have loved them, and didn't notice.
I was in Cardiff on Monday, and I again visited this little stall of delights. The bao buns are steamed to order and are so soft and slightly sweet. Add to that spice not beef, sauces, pickles and kimchi slaw and your taste buds are dancing. A bit like the staff actually. Friendly and full of enthusiasm.
Whether you are vegan, veggie or a full on carnivore, this will likely be the best thing you have eaten for an age.
Fresh, nutritious, delicious and piping hot. I wish there was a Bao Selecta in town. All I can say is, Lucky you, being in Cardiff and able to feast here whenever you like.

The crispy 'beef' baos were amazing! So much flavour, perfectly balanced and fresh 😍 I also love the Korean 'chicken' rice bowl with their homemade kimchi slaw. Always great service!

Been following 'Bao Selecta' for years now and they've never disappointed. Any other baos I've tried pale in comparison. Their rice bowls are right up there with the best bowls of food available in Cardiff, too.

What a find in Cardiff - Edit
For some reason this didn't show up on happy cow, despite it clearly being close to me. I literally stumbled across it. And what a find it was. I tried the beef bao bun and it was amazing. Absolutely delicious. And friendly staff.

Nice people, good organization, and super tasty food especially if you just want a quick bite on the go. They also have some seats tho. Only tiny downside is that it took me ages to find, but that’s hardly their fault. It is at stall 39 if anyone else is confused.

All options are vegan here, tried to give 5* but happy cow won't let me, we had the Korean "Chicken" which was amazing. The staff were lovely too, little stall in the marketplace.

Went to Bao Selecta for the first time today. Only had one of the Buns, but it was delicious! Super fresh and cooked right there and then! Will definitely be going back for more!
