Full flavored, clever sushi

Delicious vegan sushi that truly satisfied my sushi craving!

Lovely little restaurant

Having already eaten at a different Beyond Sushi on this holiday we tried this one and found a great little restaurant, the food was just as good here and we left full and happy. Also had a great iced drink as well.

Pros: Nice restaurant setting.

Amazing vegan sushi!!!

We just had the sweet tree sushi which has sweet potato, avocado and alfalfa on it. We also had the mighty mushroom sushi which had an array of mushrooms and tofu. The dumplings are amazing too! Don’t forget dessert-the black bean brownie is to die for!

Pros: Tons of options , Delicious eats , Great prices for vegan food

delicious and inventive

I really enjoyed my stay, the Sushi was really good and the noodle salad was nice as well. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A place for Japanese cuisine lovers

I agree with most of the other reviews, as the place is good but a bit small and pricey considering the quantity of food you get.
Anyway, the dishes are made of fresh ingredients and the presentation-Japanese style- is cool.

Pros: Friendly staff. Desserts are also available.

Cons: A bit pricey

Amazing food

I’d do takeout rather than eat here—the music is too loud for me and there’s not a lot of seating. But the food is inventive and delicious. Recommend the Sampler, the coconut curry soup, and the fun guy dumplings.

everything is delicious

I tried almost everything in the menu and not one thing that was not up to my expectation. Everything has very good balance of flavour. Their sushi are good and the noodle salad is good too. The service is good as well. The price is very reasonable.

Vegan sushi at it's best

Love the unique way they serve the sushi. And I love the opportunity to eat sushi even though as a vegan. At this point rare seating available. Good for a quick bite. Think they have another restaurant what's more comfortable.

Interesting flavours, good quality

This is a place where to enjoy good sushi with creative flavours. The sushi was really good, just the wasabi seemed very fake, but apart from that everything was fine. Very limited seating.

Delicious

This place takes sushi to another level. The flavours are unique, delicious and so much more interesting than regular sushi. My favourite vegan restaurant of my NYC trip.
The service was fast and the waiters were super friendly.
Too bad the restaurant isn't big enough to accomodate large groups of people.

Delicious & healthy

Everything in here is yum. My favourites are the Nutty Buddy rice paper roll and the red miso noodle soup. Small restaurant to sit down for table service or take away. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly unique

Whenever I travel to NYC I make it a point to eat at Beyond Sushi for at least two meals. It’s reasonably priced, tasty, and super innovative.
As a vegan, I am tired that every time a place offers “vegan sushi” I get avocado wrapped in rice and seaweed or something about as exciting. It’s tasteless and unoriginal. Beyond sushi, really goes beyond and brings us something innovative in the world of vegan sushi.
No two of their rolls are similar, and they all feature unconventional ingredients wrapped in tasty forbidden rice or black rice. Somehow, despite the seemingly-strange combinations of flavors, every roll and dish on their menu I have tried is amazing. Their sauces are tasty and flavorful as well, and pair beautifully with their respective dishes. Personal favorites: sweet bean wrap, mighty mushroom roll, and sweet tree roll.

I hope this place spreads to other cities soon. I have never seen a better fast food concept. Love it and cannot recommend enough!

Definitely a must

Delicious vegan sushi. Plenty of options, great prices, super friendly employees. My main concern is that they do not have any warm sushi - like yam tempura or something with baked veggies. All sushi tasted good but like all the ingredients were just taken out from the fridge. I only tried few of their sushi and Spicy Mang was my favourite, 2nd place is Mighty Mushroom. I did not like Sunny Side, could not finish it because in my opinion they tasted like anchovies or some other fish. I think it was sundried tomato that I didn’t like. I highly recommend Nutty Buddy- that was my favourite item on the menu!
Will be coming back again.

tasty!

Ordered the coconut soup with ramen and a side order of dumplings and rice paper rolls. Would eat every meal here for the rest of my life if I had to. Great service as well. Recommended

Bad experience

It was a pity because the food was so good, we really enjoyed the sushi and the starters. Absolutely delicious. The problem was when we wanted to pay. We were tourists and we didn't know how does it work in USA with tips and payments. Instead for explaining it to us (we were obviously not locals, carrying photo cameras and speaking not native English) the waiter started to speak extremely loud about our stupidity with the cookers. I guess he wanted us to hear it, almost yelling.
Well, he succeed. We felt really uncomfortable and tried to fix our mistake, but the waiter kept treating us as idiots the rest of the time we were there.
I would rate only one star if I could.

Cons: Bad experience , Unacceptable behavior , Uncomfortable

my favorite vegan place in nyc

don't be fooled by the fact that it's a chain in manhattan. this place is INCREDIBLE!! you won't go wrong with any item & they even have seasonal items so once you've exhausted their huge menu you can still try something new. it's also cheap!! i can't stress enough how amazing this place is.

Pros: flavor combos are insane, friendly staff, perfect price

Cons: there's no queens location

Veg Sushi is the bomb!

Absolutely loved the sushi and dumplings I ordered from BS! I wasn’t a fan of sushi while being an omnivore but I am a fan of rice sushi as a vegan! Love the combinations! So fresh and delicious sauces.
