For family-style dining - Edit
This is a well-known semi-upscale Sichuan Chinese restaurant. They have a bunch of clearly marked and excellently prepared vegan items, and the portions are huge. However, do note that this restaurant seems less well-suited for people getting their own individual items. Rather, it's more suited for sharing (unless you get a bento box)..
Read moreFor instance, if you get the string beans, you'll have a huge portion of string beans, enough for two people, but the string beans alone hardly make a meal in itself. We got a bunch of vegan items--string beans, snow peas, tofu, cabbage, a couple of rices, tofu strips, and fava beans--and we all shared, making for a great meal. If you go to this restaurant with omnivores, make sure that they'll be willing to share at least a bunch of vegan dishes with you so as to make the meal worthwhile.
Also: note that "V" on the menu means "vegetarian," So you must double-check to see which of these items are vegan.

Our favorite "vegan" restaurant - Edit
They had a Michelin star before the pandemic, and the food is still just as good. The Szechuan cabbage is to die for. They have as many vegan dishes on the menu as most vegan restaurants do. Great place and staff as well. I've been here dozens of times over the years, it's basically perfect.

Interesting vegan options - Edit
This cute place (1920’s themed) is tucked away in the heart of the old Garment District. It is mostly meat-centered; however, like many Asian restaurants there are many vegan options on the menu.
Read moreThe cucumbers were not as tasty as others I have had (I added soy sauce) but the other dishes were quite good and, for me anyway, unusual. The oyster mushroom and spinach dish was particularly tasty. Also, the bamboo shoots where a revelation compared to the usual canned stuff.
Definitely worth a try.
Pros: Interesting/unusual vegan options, Cute interior, Good service

You won’t go hungry! - Edit
Nice food. The portions are enormous, you’ll only be able to eat one dish. So if you’re solo choose one and if you’re more, choose one each or share!
Read moreGood service, busy atmosphere on a Friday night.
Had the pa po tofu which was ok - a lot of silken tofu and the sauce was nice. Surprisingly the cabbage was really good.
Pros: The cabbage dish , Good atmosphere
Cons: Large portions so if you like variety it limits
