Parfait! - Edit
J’adore la cuisine thaï mais la plupart de restos ne sont pas agréable pour les vegans. En outre, plusieurs de restos vegans n’ont pas les repas thaï authentiques. Couchai est végane, délicieux, et authentique! C’est parfait.

It was great that there was such a variety of options and all were vegan! While I love Thai food and there are always options, here I could eat everything including dishes I normally have to fore go.

Wow great food and service! Wow expensive!! - Edit
It’s rare that I think a vegan restaurant is 5 star but this one has really great food. The resto was FULL on a Wednesday night and the service was fast polite and good. An all around good dining experience which, IMO is rare for vegans.

Delicious Thai with a huge menu. My favorites are the Pad Thai and the Wonton soup. It's a bit expensive, so I only go occasionally, but it's great for a date night.

Everything is sweet - Edit
Love them for paving the way for vegan restaurants in MTL but its clear they had to adapt their receipe to the greater public.
Read moreSauces are way too sweet and unnecessarily thickened with some kind of starch that give it a weird texture.
Pros: A vegan institution
Cons: Starch and sugar everywhere

Miam! - Edit

Cozy atmosphere, excellent service, elaborate menu, Chuchai is always a good pick to go on special occasions, or not. The menu is pricey but besides that you can't be disappointed by the experience of having a diner there.

Good Quality - Edit
Delicious high quality vegan food. I really loved the peanut butter tofu. Wonton soup and some vegan meat dishes. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the portions are quite small for the price.

Dinner out - Edit
My friends had hyped it up, a lot. I enjoyed my meal, enjoyed the company, service was great. The green papaya salad was really good and my pad thai was pretty good. I personally felt that it could have been served with chilli (i asked, it came) and more lime and peanuts (because there was 3 people)
Read moreYou know when someone tells you how good something is for ages and then you go in with am unrealistic standard? That. They got busy just as we were hoping for a dessert menu (do they do dessert? Is it good?) And we sat for a while until we asked for our bill. It's nice to see them so busy.
However, overall i would go back. It's a great place for a fancier dinner, and excellent for sharing.
Pros: Staff, Tapas style, Cost is exactly what i expect for a nice night.
Cons: Not many Alcohol free options.

Wow - Edit
Just moved to Montreal and we are so happy to have found a ChuChai. The Pad Thai and the Kari Neau were fantastic. We also got the spring rolls: They came in a rice wrap with [we assume] vegan crab meat, which wasn’t mentioned on Uber eats but definitely fits the vegan profile. Overall: delicious, will be in our regular rotation of take out (and dine in once we can visit in person!)

Chic restaurant on the Plateau. The food is a little bit expensive, but really worth it. The mock meats are amazing. I especially like the beef options, but everything is good. Bring non-veg friends, they will be suprised by the taste!

Authentic Thai food - but vegan! - Edit
I ordered the Pad Thai for delivery via UberEats. The meal came quickly and was exactly as I expected. The portion is generous and filling, and comes with vegan shrimp, vegan chicken, fried tofu, and ground peanuts.

Worth a try. Once. - Edit
I tried many vegan places in MTL but somehow I just run into ChuChai. I was really excited hearing about their great plant based "crispy duck". I started with a dumpling in peanut sauce. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. The "crispy duck" had a nice texture but the taste was not there. It was a good experience but next time I will go to YUAN instead. Their food is much tastier.

Best peanut sauce in Montreal - Edit
Chuchai has been consistently one of the most delicious vegan restaurants year after year (it's been a lot of years). Nothing beats their peanut sauce and mock dock. Prices are high, but for what they are bringing out it's worth it and you're never left hungry.
