Delicious Thai food

They have a separate vegetarian menu that is also fully vegan. Allergens are labelled on the menu, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the him himmapran which was one of the tastiest stir fries I've had.

Would give 5 stars...

This was soo soo good! The place was fully booked so we were glad to have reserved in advance! Really cool decor inside a church (maybe) and really friendly staff. The food was also incredible with a clear vegetarian menu which also said suitable for vegans.

Pros: Decor was cool, Food was tasty

Five stars!

Amazing little Thai restaurant in Ambleside with plenty of clearly labelled vegan options. The restaurant inside is lovely and bright, staff are great and the food was amazing with great portion sizes and quick service! Also really well priced compared to other restaurants in the area. Would highly recommend booking as there was a sign on the door when we went that they were fully booked for the evening.

Several vegan options

While there weren't as many vegan options as we typically find at Thai restaurants, we enjoyed our meal. The service was good and the prices were reasonable.

Very tasty and satisfying

Doi Intanon is a Thai restaurant with almost a full page of vegan options (the vegetarian section is also fully vegan). The money bags starter were five very tasty crisp filo parcels stuffed with veg and a dipping plum sauce (not thick and rich, more like a refreshing vinaigrette style). We then had the panang tofu veg curry, red tofu veg curry, coconut rice and jasmine rice. The portion sizes were generous so we couldn't manage dessert.

The curries had a lovely flavour to them. Even though the panang had two 🌶 on the menu, I found it mild. The red curry had four 🌶 and even after we asked in advance if it could be a milder version, it still had some heat to it! Unfortunately the coconut rice didn't taste coconutty at all so it was a waste of the extra money they charge for it compared to the standard jasmine rice.

Really tasty, satisfying food overall. It was very busy on a Thursday night, we were lucky at 8.15pm there had been a no show, so we got a table. I'd advise to book.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Generous portion sizes, Friendly staff

Cons: Coconut rice didn't taste coconutty, Can be busy, better to book

Incredible Vegan Food

The menu is marked as vegetarian but all items suitable for vegans. They are clear that they don’t use fish sauce or other animal products in their vegetarian/vegan food which was great.

We had the Sweetcorn Fritters and Veggie Tempura to start.
We then had the Panang Curry and the Thai Green. Both with veggies and tofu. The tofu was lovely. The Thai Green is spicy - which I love, but a few others in the restaurant found it too spicy, it does have 4 chillies on the menu for a reason.
We then had the banana fritters and lychee for dessert.

Friendly staff, great location, fantastic food.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Clear menu, Great location

Lovely Thai food

Busy little place in centre, very prominently positioned. Very efficient service and quite a few vegan dishes to choose from. I had spring rolls with glass noodles and Thai green curry. The curry was superb👍

Pros: Vegan section on menu

Cons: Not many vegan puds

Lovely vegan Thai food

We visited last weekend and had a fab meal here - both vegan and it wasn't a problem finding more than enough suitable choices for us both. Lovely green thai curry and perfect jasmine rice. Waiters all understood our needs as vegans and pointed out suitable items on the dessert menu for us. We would love to visit again sometime soon - it was busy though so recommend booking in advance.

Excellent and now clear labelling

Contrary to earlier reviews, this restaurant now has full allergen labelling on every dish when eating in, and all the vegetarian dishes are vegan, and clearly label as such. We had excellent food: veg spring rolls and veg tempura to start, then red Thai curry with tofu and vegetables and a stir fry with mushrooms, veg and cashew nuts with rice. Both mains were exceptionally good and we'd definitely recommend a visit!

Really not impressed with the food

We went here based on reviews on happy cow and were disappointed. This is not what we think of as good Thai food! None of it seemed very fresh - it was basically like a loaf of pre made vegetables (some could even have been frozen) - then just with different sauces added. The Tom Yum soup was lacking in flavour or herbs but weirdly absolutely full of chopped up raw mushrooms. Wish we’d gone somewhere else!

100% Vegetarian Food -No Shrimp Paste or Fish Sauce

Doi Intanon is a firm favourite of mine, due to the clear labelling as to vegan dishes, on their menu board outside and food menu.

The menu has vegan options, including vegetarian starters, soups, salads, curries and stir fries, so plenty to choose from, with chilli icons to show how hot the dishes are.

My husband decided to go all vegan with me, so we started with vegetable spring rolls and spicy Yum Tawai salad. The red chillies certainly gave a kick and the starters were light, non oily and full of flavour, some of the reasons I love Thai food.

I would not normally choose a soup course, as they can be filling, but Thai soups are delicate broths, so we ordered the two on the menu, so we could share, which were a delicious in between course.

Mains were vegetable and tofu green curry and vegetable and mushroom stir fry in red curry paste with coconut cream, which I asked for the maximum five chillies hot, all served with Jasmine rice.

The dishes were gorgeous, with plenty of kick, although I could have eaten mine hotter, but we could not fault the food.

Service throughout the evening was friendly, efficient and any questions quickly answered, so when next in Ambleside, Doi Intanon will be on my radar, as its unusual for a Thai restaurant to label their vegetarian dishes as 100% shrimp paste and fish sauce free.

Pros: 100% vegetarian, Suitable for vegans, No shrimp paste or fish sauce
