Really wanted to like this - Edit
Found myself at Maya after flying into Chiang Mai yesterday. I needed to pick up a few things and was looking for lunch while there. Based on comments here, I decided to try the vegan gyoza. I wasn’t offered the option of steamed or fried. The woman poured oil into the center of the pan and immediately placed them in. They then sat in the cold oil and absorbed all of it. What I ended up with was completely inedible grease soaked gyoza. So sad. Glad they were only 60 baht as I ate one and couldn’t eat the rest.

It’s a great way for people who don’t eat meat to enjoy street food. It was super delicious and fresh !

Fresh gyoza at the mall - Edit
Really yummy, juicy gyoza stuffed with glass noodles! You get 5 pieces for 60 baht. I usually get them fried because I can’t resist that crunchy coating, but there’s also the option to just have them steamed.
Read moreThere’s one vegan option—one menu lists them as vegan and the other as vegetarian, but they’re the same. The dip they come with doesn’t contain fish sauce or anything else non-vegan, I’ve checked! They seem to pre-cook most of their dumplings which they leave stacked around the side of the wok, but every time I’ve been there they’ve cooked the vegan ones fresh in front of me.
Note: Take extra care when opening the little plastic pot of sauce. It’s very flimsy and has a tendency to spill EVERYWHERE (tried and tested by yours truly).
