Countless Vegan options - Edit
I had a vegan sausage breakfast slider with pancakes for bread. The menu is huge with as many vegan options as anything else.

Fun diner, progressive vibes and big portions - Edit
Bring your appetite. We love the happy and welcoming vibes here. There is a diverse community of patrons at this cozy diner. Every town should have a place like this. Portions are large, (we saw pancakes hanging over the edges of diner sized plates,) and the vegan menu is deep. I mean there are like 10 pages of vegan options. It’s pretty fantastic. Be prepared to wait a bit but you’ll at least get a seat at the counter upon arrival or soon after. Prices are higher than what you’d expect in a diner but there’s good reason for that. Real food made with care and a living wage are things we should all support.

The reviews do not lie — delicious legit vegan breakfast dinner food, huge menu, cute place too! I got the vegan get’er done and I’m taking 1/2 home with me. The pancakes are SO good I couldn’t stop eating them. Definitely go!

Deserves five stars - Edit
This is the spot for sure. Unless you’re in a rush or on a budget or MAGA, in which case you should probably go elsewhere. But if you’ve got some time, it’s a huuuuuge vegan menu with all sorts of proper vegan dishes. Pretty huge portions. It’s very expensive (we spent like $75 for two wraps and two coffees) but I sorta get it. Service was slow but we read the New Yorker and had a nice time. Regardless, we’ll be back if we’re in the area for breakfast or lunch

Never change this place! - Edit
Classic diner food for everyone. So many different vegan options and gigantic portions. Well worth the price to support a gem of a local restaurant that pays living wages and is cooking basically everything from scratch. The whole place is so delightful and silly and full of joy! Plus there is an entire menu of vegan fruit pies. Thanks for doing what you do out in rural VT!

Vegan Pancake Sliders?! - Edit
Second visit to this diner. My wife and I sat at the counter (it was busy for Sunday brunch) and had pancake sliders. A pancake sandwich of tofu scramble, mushrooms, hash browns, and vegan mozzarella with maple syrup (there were several other vegan slider choices and many other vegan options besides sliders). I was afraid of the syrup but it was all delicious and delicious together. We left satisfied and feeling like the 90 minute round trip was worth it. We will be back!

There is an ENORMOUS vegan menu here, well labeled. It should be 5 stars but the app only allows for 4 at a place that isn't all-vegan.

Classic diner food 💖 - Edit
I love brunch, and it's a lonely world out there for a brunch-loving vegan. Or at least, it's hard to find a classic American vegan brunch. Really cute spot. Free coffee refills. I'm including pics of the updated pricing--it's pretty expensive, but as others have noted, it's a ton of food (I got two meals out of what I ordered). I will gladly come back and am comfortable with what I paid. I ordered the vegan classic. It was delicious--can't remember the last time I had hash browns. I will say, there was definitely like 2 or 3 potatoes worth of hashbrowns lol. Would've preferred a bit more tofu scram. They had a good hot sauce arrangement!
Read moreEdit: I've been a few times and I've got some updated info! Weekends tend to get busy. On weekends they don't offer home fries, just hashbrowns (in the potato genre). You will not be able to sit until a table is available, and there isn't any seating outside...therefore try to come on a weekday! There are 5 booth tables, and the rest of the seating is at a counter.

Lots of options for breakfast. I love going out for breakfast but it is difficult to find decent options so I was so excited to try the Hartland Diner. It did not disappoint! The food was so good, fresh and made to order. I had a Mexican wrap. It was huge, really about 4 meals!

Best vegan diner option in Vermont - Edit
I got the Vegans get er done which was a ridiculous amount of food but pricy so glad it ended up being two meals worth of food. Everything was delicious and classic diner. Maybe the only vegan dish without a vegetable in sight that I’ve had in a long time😄Can’t wait to go back and try more things. They had a whole vegan taco menu that looked delicious. Only suggestion to take it over the top would be a vegan gravy. Great place to go with non-vegan family where everyone will be overwhelmed by choices.

PAGES of vegan options! and everything we’ve had is fantastic. The pancakes are huge and fluffy. I often have the tofu scramble with lots of veggies and hashbrowns - a very filling plate! They source as much as they can from local farmers and producers.

Delicious, build-your-own options - Edit
UPDATED 23JUL21: I've returned to add a star to my previous review. This diner muscled through the pandemic with take-out, frequently offering creative vegan options. Their Thanksgiving "sides" meal was exceptional with very generous portions. They've just re-opened the dining room and now have a substantial list of vegan options. I tried a hash-brown scramble with tofu-based egg substitute and sauteed vegetables. YUM! This diner sees vegans.
Read moreORIGINAL REVIEW 26DEC19: We went in for breakfast, and asked about vegan options. There are essentially 3 choices: avacado on toast for $12, the "Vegans Wrap Too" (hashbrowns, avacado, spinach and tomatoes in a wrap) for $15, or "Make Your Own Hash." The latter is $5 for hash browns, plus $3 for the first added ingredient and $1 for each additional ingredient. Options are about half meat and cheese, but also several veggies. I ordered the "make-your-own" hash browns with avacado, spinach, tomato, onion, and mushrooms. At $12, it was comparable to the other options. Back to that later. My companion got the Vegans Wrap Too.
The wrap was delicious. They used oil to cook everything, and plenty of salt--not too much, just more than we use at home and we loved the indulgence of taste and mouth feel. My hash browns were similarly graced with oil and salt, and were almost identical to the wrap except no wrap and more hash browns. The veggies were cooked perfectly.
The Hartland Diner is small, and tucked away in some buildings away from the Interstate. It's funky, very Vermont (including the Bernie cutout), and the staff are busy but friendly. It gets crowded on the weekends, and a small line of table stalkers had formed as we were finishing our meal. The server charged us $3 for each ingredient on my hash browns, bringing the total for my breakfast to $20 when it should have been $12. Add $4 for a coffee and $15 for the wrap. That was a bit much for a simple diner breakfast! I didn't make a fuss, although in retrospect I should have called it to their attention. Oh well, it was busy and it was Christmas season.... In all, it was a treat to have a vegan breakfast out, in region where vegan options are scarce.
