Tasty but underwhelming

I’ve been following Lait de Choco on Instagram for over a year now so saying I was excited to visit would be an understatement. I wasn’t in the mood for soft serve but decided to take home some chocolates. It is quite hard to find in other reviews but the chocolate is €4 a piece. That sets a high bar. The chocolates came in a standard chocolaterie box, so I didn’t expect any trouble with transport in my tote back. However, a few hours later, I saw that the box had a little dent on the side, likely from my (plastic) water bottle. When I went to check on the chocolates, 2 of them were fully crushed and 1 had started leaking liquid without any noticeable holes in the chocolate. I’ve never had something like this happen to me before when buying chocolate. This doesn’t really affect my rating though because I’m assuming it was (again, somehow?) my fault.
We tried the ones that survived and they were good, but not mind blowing. The owner had mentioned that they were quite filling but I have to disagree there; only the white sesame pistachio chocolate was rich but more in a sickly manner. I loved the taste of the dark chocolate itself, it tasted very unique and pure. But I just cannot justify the price. It is organically and ethically sourced chocolate, I get that, but the thin shell of a bonbon is so very little chocolate that it is just the niche concept of the store that you’re really paying for.

Pros: Good dark chocolate

Cons: Very fragile (potentially tempered incorrectly?), Underwhelming, Incredibly expensive.

Such a great place for chocolate

Very nice and cozy shop, the owner is very sweet and loved her chocolates. I loved them too! There are many different flavours that all feel well thought of, and the good packaging allowed me to travel abroad to bring as a gift without any damage😄

Excellent handmade chocolates

First of all, the owner and creator in this shop is so friendly! She deserves your visit to her little chocolate heaven!

Went here together with a colleague after a meeting in Spirit (at the beginning of the Czaar Peterstraat). We walked by this almost hidden gem in the street, you can easily walk past it because the store is so small.

Once you open the door you enter Chocolate Heaven! 🥰 you can buy smaller or bigger chocolates, all hand made and packed with so much flavour and excellent high quality ingredients.

Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the products 👌🏼

Delicious and unique Chocolates

I specifically travelled so I could visit this fully vegan Chocolatier and I was not disappointed. It is hard finding vegan bonbons in the Netherlands, let alone well made and good tasting ones, so upon reading there was a completely vegan chocolatier in Amsterdam and me being an absolute chocoholic I had to plan a visit.

The longshort: If you love chocolate, this is the place for you! Well made, 100% vegan and 100% delicious filled chocolates!

Amalia is a warm and welcoming host. Through our chats her passion in regards to vegan chocolates becomes apparent and by tasting her creations that passion becomes apparent once more.
Though not cheap it's more than worth it. Aside from the delicious chocolates, you can rest your mind knowing the cacao is ethically sourced, both for the humans and nature. Concepts of sustainability, using as little plastic as possible and circularity are held in high regard as you can read on Lait de Choco's website.

The chocolates themselves are accordingly decorated with an ingredient hinting their contents. Of course I haven't tasted them all yet, but the N°3 Pecan Ganache Speculoos Crunch was absolutely delicious. And surprising! These aren't your standard bonbons.
Made with very pure, unlikely and healthy ingredients you might suspect that will compensate on taste experience and flavour but oh no it does not compensate on taste experience and flavour at all! The filling of this particular chocolate is tasteful, sweet but not too sweet, super smooth and a combination of runny and sticky. The exterior consists of a thick layer of intense dark chocolate and works really well with the smooth and slightly sweet filling.

Lait de Choco offers 2 versions of each flavour, a big one (which can be an absolute energybomb) and a smaller 'one bite' version.
I walked away excited to try each flavour, happy to have found this place and with a bag full of delicious chocolates (ordered at least one of each flavour)!
I'll definitely return!

Pros: Well made and tasty chocolates, 100% vegan, Lovely Chocolatier

Choc-shock!

Once you step inside you know you're up for something heavenly, the rich chocolate smell is welcoming and intoxicating. The host is very friendly and happily guides you through the options- and boy... there are many.
Treat yourself to the fair-prized enriching fully plantbased chocolates, its worth hiking all the way through the city for, trust me.
