Excellent options - Edit
Very good selection, a little skimpy on the veggies in the noodle dishes. Beware - Very spicy! Scale of 1-5 can be selected; I got a 2 and it was fire.

Modern, fast casual deliciousness - Edit
I love this place! The food is delicious and most items have a vegan option. They aren’t afraid of spice. The portions are perfectly sized. The vibe is fresh, cool and modern. I got the crunchy rice lettuce wraps. I wish I had room in my belly to try more things.

5 Stars. Best meal I had in Des Moines - Edit
They offer soy curls in addition to tofu for veg protein! And they know how to cook soy curls, well seasoned and charred. I got the scallion pancake and drunken noodles. Incredibly delicious. Wish I could come here more often!

Top spot in Des Moines - Edit
Their menu is well labeled on what is vegan or modifiable. The staff is knowledgeable & well accommodating. Crunchy Rice Wrap is my absolute favorite! Extra tasty & filling if you get it with vegan eggrolls INSIDE… it’s basically a main course! I also love very much that they have vegan desserts… so hard to come by in this town.

Nice options - Edit
Almost everything on the menu can be made vegan, which is really nice. We had street noodles (generous portion), a scallion pancake sandwich with tofu, and vegan eggrolls. We encountered a problem with our meal and they handled it very professionally and kindly, so I would return in the future.

DSM Favorite - Edit
I wish I could do 5 stars, because Lucky Lotus is our favorite restaurant in DSM. They do an incredible job with vegan options. The staff is knowledgeable about ingredients and makes great suggestions. Only big downside is they don’t have the lucky tofu year round - it’s our favorite! The wait time for pickup orders can be a little long, but it’s worth it. The crispy rice rolls are another great item, as well as the pad Thai!

Beyond satisfied - Edit
Neon hip vibes. Order when you come in then it will be brought out to you. Water and silverware are self serve. All vegan items are marked on menu with a leaf and staff is good about asking protein and vegan options. Everything was delicious!! The tofu tamarind wings were crispy and flavorful, umami bomb and pad Lao were also amazing. The flavors and textures were beautiful and we can’t wait to go back.

Favorite Restaurant - Edit
For a fairly new restaurant, Lucky lotus always nails dinner. I love their drunken noodles, best in the city. The only con is sometimes you ask for a level 1 and its so spicy it tastes like a level 4. It does look like they updated their menu saying they’ll put the spices on side now to determine personal heat levels. If you haven't tried, you can't go wrong with eating here!

Limited Menu - Edit
Compared to other Thai restaurants Lucky Lotus has a limited menu that doesn’t include any stir fries. I focus my meals around vegetables and that was hard to do here. While the salad I had was good it was mostly rice and noodles and the summer rolls were bland compared to others I’ve had.

Local, delicious and catering to vegans - Edit
We’ve been in three times since it opened. The owners have stated that they are catering to vegetarians and vegans. Multiple options are available, including vegan pad Thai and vegan pho. This is not bland, sad, pan-Asain food, but chef- made and inspired by family recipes, using fresh veg and broth.
