We showed up 30 mins before closing and they said they closed early. Big bummer for being from out of town and after planning the evening around a posted closing time (even confirmed the closing time on multiple places, including their website).

I recently revisited a Miguel’s Cocina in Old Town San Diego that I had fond memories of from 19 years ago. Back then, I wasn’t vegan, and I remember thoroughly enjoying the traditional dishes they offered. This time, however, my experience was a bit different.

The primary dish available was vegetable enchiladas, mushroom fajitas and bean and corn enchiladas, which, while flavorful, didn’t offer much variety or creativity in terms of vegan options.
The ambiance of the restaurant still holds its charm, reminiscent of my first visit years ago. However, I was slightly disappointed that the menu hasn’t evolved to accommodate more dietary preferences, especially given the growing demand for vegan options.
Overall, if you’re vegan, you might find yourself with few choices here and sadly that’s Old Town, hardly travel, but vegan lacking. But if you’re looking for a nostalgic experience or are not strictly vegan, the restaurant still delivers on traditional flavors in a lively Old Town setting.

I had the mushroom fajitas, the waiter was very aware of what vegan meant, and they were fabulous. Probably the best fajitas I’ve had in years. Definitely would go back.

Vegan options clearly labeled on menu, staff very willing to customize. I wanted to have a vegan chimichanga, and even though it wasn't labeled as "vegan modifiable" on the menu, the chef said that they could fill it with lots of beans and avocados, take out the dairy, and not use the rice which had chicken stock in it. Great place to catch up with a friend over mimosas.
