Delicious and cute place - Edit
Lots of vegan options here, in a nice location by lots of temples and the owner is nice and very quick. The matcha was amazing and the vegan cheese on the pizza was some of the best vegan cheese I’ve ever had

Excellent Gem 💎 - Edit
Right outside of Tofukuji, this little cafe opens right up in the back. Beautiful food and atmosphere. So many choices and the portions are large and filling after a day of temple walking and meditations.

Very, very good! - Edit
We had the margherita pizza and the matcha/butter scone. We absolutely loved it! Very flavourful and tasty!
Read moreThe pizza had a good mixture of structures because of the crispy crust and motchi dough on top of it. Very good vegan cheese as well. The matcha/butter scone had a nice balance between sweetness and matcha flavour.
A must go when you're in Kyoto.

Good savoury dishes. The sweets also look amazing, but we were too full to try after our lunch.

Loved It! - Edit
This was one of the best meals I had on my entire trip to Japan! (I visited Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka). I had the Teriyaki chicken plate and it far exceeded my expectations! It was flavorful and filling. The owner, Masa, was extremely welcoming, kind, and helpful. He even provided us with more recommendations for vegan food in Kyoto! Overall this was an amazing experience, and I will plan to visit again when I come back to Japan.

Tasty but miniscule overpriced pizza - Edit
Bit of a tourist trap, pizza looks huge on the pictures but comes out about the size of a side plate and for 1800 yen (£9) seems excessive. We also said we wanted to share, at which point i feel he could have mentioned the size.

Can not recommend this place - Edit
I’m living close so I was really excited about this place but left disappointed. Came for lunch a few days after opening. We had the hamburger plate and a pizza. Both were tasty, but portions are too small for the price. Especially the pizza was quite plain. Could have more toppings. They are definitely targeting tourists here bc inari taisha and tofukuji are close.
Read moreThe cakes aren’t bad here but not fresh. They get them from somewhere else so they are frozen and then heated. But they are not too sweet, and normally priced. Nice bright clean interior.
They just opened so hopefully there will be adjustments to the menu.

I went a second time just for cake and matcha latte. This was a bad experience overall! The matcha latte was not good. Just look at the color. No matcha taste at all. Some cheap powder sugar mix.
The service guy first brought me an ice matcha latte although I had ordered it hot. He didn’t apologize…. Brought me the hot one. Lots of cakes were sold out and the sold out stickers on the menu were on the wrong cakes. I ended up ordering the chocolate strawberry cake but he messed up my order a second time and brought me the matcha strawberry cake instead. I didn’t say anything at that point. Also, by the time the cake arrive I had almost finished my drink…

The manager is very friendly, and the restaurant has a nice quiet atmosphere. The cakes are delicious and the 'chicken' is also pretty good! A rare find in japan.

New find! - Edit
We were happy to find this new place open in what si basically our neighbourhood. Easy to find, spacious and clean. Menu both in Japanese and English. We tried the flag plate of teriyaki style „vegan chicken”, hayashi rice and some juices. 2700 yen for a plate set the expectation higher, but felt adequat as for the volume. A loved the side mash, presumably from artichoke 🤔. Hayashi rice is a nice touch, specially when you want to try some local dishes. Maybe a bit too simple for the price (1400), as my partner said, nothing to chew on.
Read moreThe store also offers some vegan ingredients, vegan broth in pet bottles and fresh legumes.
Pros: Very friendly chef, Well balanced flavours , Quick service

Good Vegan Restaurant - Edit
We had a very enjoyable experience at MIMI! We ordered two margherita pizzas because we really wanted some pizza. It came topped with vegan cheese, basil leaves, and olive oil, but was otherwise quite plain and the sauce was a bit too sweet for our liking, it was also quite small.
Read moreThe sweets were really good! We ordered the strawberry matcha as a drink, together with an anko and butter scone and the black forest cake. Strawberry matcha was superb, anko and butter are a surprisingly good combination and the black forest cake was super rich and smooth.
We definitely want to go back here during our stay in Kyoto, especially for more desserts!
Pros: Full Vegan, Friendly staff, Near Fushimi Inari
Cons: Bit pricey, Small portions

Brand new vegan restaurant! - Edit
A very cute and new restaurant, close to Tofukuji and Fushimi Inari. We tried the Margherita pizza and the slow simmered Hayashi rice. They were both very tasty 😋 There are other interesting options, as well as many desserts to choose from. The only con would be the quantity that could be increased, but I eat a lot eheh I'd like to visit again!

Cons: A little expensive
