Went here & it was the earth month menu for which they had AMAZING ahi watermelon tuna sushi, king oyster mushroom scallops, and olive oil carrot cake. 1,000% recommend

AMAZING brunch! - Edit
Happened to see this place nearby when I was in town for a couple days and I’m so glad I went! I don’t even usually like French toast but their French toast was amazing. Service is great, atmosphere is nice, but the food is some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had (and I have tried many vegan places in most east coast cities).

They should have a Michelin Star - Edit
I've eaten at vegan restaurants all over in multiple states, and this is some of the best food I've ever experienced! The food is made for sharing, and I highly recommend the Bang Bang Broccoli and 1000 Layer Potatoes. The sushi was ok (only tried 2 rolls this time and honestly Blue Sushi Sake Grill had them

Every roll I had was amazing, especially the spicy tuna roll! My only regret is not trying any of the dishes besides sushi.

Amazing. Go. Do it. Especially if it's Monday! - Edit
In town for work travel and was looking for vegan restaurants and found this one on HappyCow and VegNews highly rated. It did not disappoint. I knew I wanted to get the bang bang broccoli of the reviews I'd read but then when I got there they also said they have a Monday Maki deal where all the Maki rolls are $9 each (basically half price) OR you can do an all you can eat Maki for $38 (I don't remember exact price). I went alone and didn't think I could eat 4 rolls plus the bang bang broccoli so I didn't. But if I was with a group of people I'd totally say do it to try more varieties.
Read moreI got the Bang bang broccoli, Firecracker, Volcano and the Torched & Pressed. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite but I will say the Torched and the Firefighter were really rich, especially after the broccoli and several were out had fried elements so the volcano was kind of a pleasant balance bc it felt fresher and more raw. I could not pick a favorite but I think the Torched and Pressed was the most novel, and it was so rich and almost like buttery plus with the truffle, just yum.
I did not plan to get all those rolls but there was some confusion and I was delivered an extra roll. It was WAY too much for one person but I definitely wasn't going to waste it.

Gourmet on all levels - Edit
After 2 nights of sub-par cocktails in Chicago establishments, I was hesitant to order one. The cocktails were spot on (particularly the espresso martini). We had truffle soba noodles & kimchi brisket fried rice, both of which were sublime. Raspberry cheesecake was also delectable. It was a steep meal given out choices, but worth every sip and bite.

Friends and I have been frequent fliers here for the past 2 years. If you can only get one thing, get the pressed and torches roll. You will not regret it!

What you want from more of an upscale vegan place. Went in very hungry and tried a lot of things. Don’t sleep on the broccoli appetizer—that was my favorite dish.
Read moreThe ramen was my least favorite—would try a different main next time.
It is pricier, but the value for money feels right. We got a ton of dishes and drinks and our bill was under $200 for two people. We didn’t need to order as much as we did, but I only visit Chicago occasionally so it was a treat.
Pros: Great mocktails, Lots of choices

We originally planned to have dinner elsewhere, but elected to go somewhere closer to our hotel. We're so glad we diverted!
Read moreWe started with the kimchi bao and 1000 layer potatoes. We both agreed we could've each eaten several plates of the potatoes alone. Any meat 'n' potatoes dad from West Coast to East Coast, the Midwest and beyond would have said the same. Kimchi bao could have benefited from smaller cabbage bits, but the crispy mushrooms were so good.
I'd been dying to try some unagi eggplant and it did not disappoint. Love the smoky seared teriyaki flavors. The udon noodles also had a really rich smoky flavor that I loved.
The ahi watermelon nigiri was not as good as I'd hoped, but a fun creative option!
For dessert we shared the matcha cheesecake & chocolate brownie. Yum!
Pros: Friendly and attentive service!, Able to get us in without reservation., Ambiance & volume.

The concept is good and the service is really great, full of nice people. The food, however, felt like it could have been more flavorful and presented better. Overall for the price, there is better vegan food to be had elsewhere.

A great dining experience - Edit
We split the Bang Bang Broccoli, 1,000 Layer Crispy Potatoes, “Beef” and Broccoli, and Thai Lettuce Wraps. Narrowing it down to these four things was difficult, as there’s so much to choose from. I especially loved the Thai Lettuce wraps, which is something that’s out of my typical comfort zone. Everything was delicious and the entree portions are pretty substantial. Definitely on the higher end price wise, but very much worth it.

Late night option - Edit
I only went here because all the other vegan spots in downtown Chicago were shut. After having had this food for the second time—the first was in DC— I think I want to say this is for rich people who aren't picky about their protein requirements. I got the fried rice and the watermelon sushi. Worth noting that adding any kind of protein is a surcharge. Neither itemswere impressive or layered or rich, taste wise. The only upsides of going to the place are the ambience and decent service. Besides that, I suppose I will always stick to eating the tastier and more voluminous food things you can buy at other places. But I guess it's nice to know that vegan fine dining is a thing.
