This is what real plantbased wholefood looks like a real gem! - Edit
A rare find in London, that lets you choose what you want to fill up in a container. Great tasting, wholefoods. They are veggie and vegan. It was easy for me to choose from plenty of vegan options. Friendly staff. Fairly cheap and filling.

Plenty selection - Edit
Healthy foods and good portions. I asked about the options, and almost everything is vegan with only a few exceptions (which are not labeled). Worth a visit if you find yourself in Portobello.

A Hidden Gem in Portobello - Edit
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Portobello Health Foods (The Grain Shop), and I was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendly service. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the food choices were diverse and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the buffet-style setup, which allowed me to try a variety of dishes.
Read moreThey had a small dining area and since the place wasn’t massive, we were happy to have the option to eat in. The food was also very reasonably priced, especially considering the high quality and freshness of the ingredients. As a vegan, I was thrilled to find so many delicious options that were clearly labeled and prepared with care. Also, 90% of the food options were vegan. The non-vegan options are clearly labelled.
Overall, I highly recommend Portobello Health Foods to anyone in the area looking for a tasty, healthy, and affordable meal. It's great to see a vegan/vegetarian restaurant thriving in Portobello, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their delicious offerings. #Veganuary

Vegetable based and delicious - Edit
You enter the store and it smells delicious right away. I got a big box for around £10 filled with lentil pie, cooked red cabbage, a chickpea dish, mixed green beans broccoli and braised mushrooms.
Read moreThey also offer some pastries and various cold drinks. Plus points for being able to pay with cash while so many other London Restaurants don't take cash anymore. This is my go-to spot for healthy lunch in the area now!

Excellent range of vegan options. You can choose your own box or ask the staff to create a vegan box-as I did. Generous portions and tons of veg. There are also vegetarian options so do be aware

Awesome place - Edit
Amazing flavors in a tiny place that serves mostly take out. But we decided to sit and eat. Indian style foods and home style dishes made there on the premises. Loved their portion sizes! Good food.

Succulent vegan food and wonderful service - Edit
Stumbled on this yesterday on a day out in Portobello Road. What a blessing! Filled up my box with a bit of everything - so much choice! An eclectic mix of succulent dishes from different parts of the world. It's so hard to east out with tasty vegan food - this place smashed that problem. We ate in, taking advantage of the cafe setting.
Read moreThe owner also twisted my arm to have the apple crumble (which I took home - I was full!) - my favourite desert before I turned vegan - and it didn't disappoint! The first time I've tasted vegan crumble and loved it! She has a wonderful service attitude about her and is a great sales woman, which added to the welcoming, home cooking kitchen vibe. I'll be back!
Pros: Succulent vegan dishes from all parts of the world, Hot vegan food, No limit to the mix of dishes you can choose

Sooooo nice - amazing portions - Edit
We got two large boxes and basically got every vegan option they had plus salad (maybe 3 or 4 options that were not vegan out of 20ish). Theres an eat in fee of 60p so all together it was just over £10. They also had savoury pastries and cakes too. Amazing!

Healthy vegan food to go! - Edit
Loved that there were so many vegan dishes and desserts to choose from. Not too expensive at £8.95 for a medium sized box . Not all dishes are vegan, some are vegetarian so be sure to ask. You can either takeaway or eat in (it's 60p extra to eat in)

Great atmosphere, lovely service and great value for money. Portion sizes are very generous and their is loads of choice. Would highly recommend especially if you have a non vegan friend. My boyfriend and I shared a large box for £10 (sit in) and it was the perfect lunch amount for us.

Wonderful selection of veg / vegan cooked food at great value - Edit
I am giving full marks because the selection of healthy cooked food on display is wonderful and suitable for vegetarian or vegan. It is served in 3 sizes of foil trays. There is not a lot of space in store, so most people come for take-away, and there is a small charge for eating in. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Read moreI nearly dropped a star because the shop front looks run-down these days and needs a lick of paint over the graffiti. But once you are inside it is fine. Because of the value and variety of dishes, I am happy to come here often for my lunch. The medium size tray is enough to fill me up.
They also have a salad section and vegan desserts, which include CBD cakes. There are other healthy products on sale behind the counter.
Pros: A large selection of veg and vegan hot dishes, Good value prices, Friendly staff
Cons: Looks a bit run-down from the outside, Not much space to eat in

i always pair my food with a little alpro strawberry drink. most times i take it away but i’ve also eaten in which was nice :)

Good choice of warm food on the go - Edit
Got served pretty quickly, purchasing a large box to go £7.20 which was filled with chickpea curry, spicy Mediterranean veg, coconut dhal, spring greens and beans and a mushroom dish.
Read moreStaff were helpful. they keep all dairy dishes at one end and vegan at the other. The woman pointed out where the vegan dishes started so you could steer clear of non-vegan food. However, there is a lack of labels so its a bit of a pot luck.
Portion size is very good. There is a limited amount of seating inside (for a small surcharge) or plently nearby.
Pros: Quick, Staff knowledgeable about what is and isnt vegan, good choice.
Cons: lack of labels

Good healthy vegan options - Edit
Very small and convenient takeaway restaurant with a few seats to eat in. Quite a lot of options but very little labeled to know whether Vegan. A rule of thumb - anything that doesn't have melted cheese on it is vegan, so not so difficult. Would go there again.

My Favorite Veggie Place In London - Edit
I love this place and have eaten here on and off for over 20 years. Huge choice of food, conveniently separated into vegan and vegetarian. Great value for money, very tasty and very healthy. Also, a great selection of vegan cakes. A few seats inside, and also a couple of small parks nearby, where most people sit and eat. Excellent.

£6.50 for a huge takeaway box of vegan and wheat free food. Serves my favourite coconut water too! Hot and cold food and some delicious cakes with some vegan and wheat free chocolate. Places to sit inside. Very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely one not to miss out on when you take a trip down Portobello Market!

Fairly meh - Edit
Small vegetarian take-away right on Portobello road. Lots of warm food for veggies (stuff like shepherd's pie, moussaka, etc) but limited warm options for vegans. There was a list on the counter of everything warm that WASN'T vegan, though when I inquired about a couple of the other items (croissants & pizza) I found out they weren't either. All deserts were marked clearly so I ended up with a (very good) brownie and a ginger beer. Boyfriend (veggie) had a pizza which he said was so-so.
Read moreNice place as it's all veggie, but apart from that doesn't have anything over the (cheaper) street vendors selling falafel, vegetable dumplings etc. Especially as it's lacking in warmth- both due to food options and lack of seating.
Pros: central & easy to find on Portobello Rd, yummy & clearly labelled desserts
Cons: vegan options haphazardly marked, no seating

Eat here... - Edit
We ended up staying close to Grain Shop and I must have eaten here 3-4 times. The options are almost entirely vegan and the staff is friendly and helpful. In a city where everything is sooooo expensive, this place is cheap and they give you alot of food. Someone else said it, but definitely order your food w/o a lid and they keep piling on food. It is take away, but if you cross Portobello and keep walking, there is a cute park with benches close by. I wish there were more restaurants like the Grain Shop..
