Excellent “Pork Belly” Bahn Mi and Bun Hue - Edit
Sen Saigon is a tight little space filled to the brim with hospitality and technique.
Read moreBefore any food came out, we were served a complimentary steaming hot cup of artichoke tea, already starting off with some interesting herbal and floral flavors.
The bun hue was a really nice light lemongrass broth and a nice medium spice, I added some of the chili/garlic/ginger paste they include on the table. The medium heat pork belly bahn mi was incredible, they make it in house and layer soy rib, tapioca starch and rice paper, deep fry that, and it has the most incredible fatty layered texture. Heat and flavor was deep and complex with the in-house pate.
We finished with the Vietnamese Flan, also incredibly textured with some deep eggy custardy flavor.
Need to stop here every time I’m in Chinatown!

Sooooo good - Edit
I honestly don’t understand how they got that texture with the soy ribs on the Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, but *whoa* was that tasty.

Could be better - Edit
I had the banh mi sandwich with a cup of broth and flan. It was pretty good, but I feel they could work better on bringing out the flavors of the sandwich. Portions could also be bigger. The flan was delicious and the Thai tea was perfectly sweetened. Might be willing to try a different item on their menu next time

My fave - Edit
I really love Sen Saigon. All the dishes are so fresh and flavorful. I’ve visited a handful of times and always had a good experience. I wish they had a restroom but that’s my only complaint.

Can’t wait to go back - Edit
Their vegan pork belly is 10/10 — if you’re curious to try something different this is the place (don’t think I’ve ever seen vegan pork belly anywhere else). Apart from that, everything else looked delicious, so I would def go back to try other things (or maybe have some more vegan pork belly in a bahn mi)

incredible vegan pork belly, space too small for dining - Edit
pork belly was one of my favorite foods back when i ate meat and i didn’t think i’d ever get to enjoy it again. i got the pork belly bahn mi and it did not disappoint, but be careful if you’re dining in. the space is so small that the tables are so close together that i witnessed multiple people bumping into others and spilling or dropping their meals or drinks throughout the course of my meal

Only vegan Vietnamese spot in NYC! - Edit
Cute little spot in lower Manhattan with kind staff, good service, and excellent food! Extra bonus knowing it’s the only vegan Vietnamese restaurant in the city. It’s a small space with a few tables and no outdoor seating, but was able to snag one of the last tables for 2 people as a walk-in on a raining weekend day for lunch.
Read moreOrdered the banh mi nam dau hu sa (lemongrass tofu and mushroom) which was super delicious!! Some of the lemongrass flavor was a bit pungent for my taste but overall it was uniquely flavorful and a hearty size.
Also had a pre-packages Thai iced tea (for a reasonable $4.50) which was a lovely complement to my meal. It was not too sweet which is just how I like it. I a always jump at the chance for vegan Thai iced tea and this hit the spot!
Will definitely want to come back to try more (especially the Bun Hue and Pho Sen that the server recommended).

Only all-vegan Vietnamese place in Manhattan - Edit
This counter-serve place is located in the east side of NYC's Chinatown, which a little removed from the touristy parts of Chinatown. They have a nice assortment of Vietnamese vegan food; not too fancy, but very good and down to earth. I have the vermicelli with vegan soy ribs and vegan fish; it was good.

We had a great lunch here. Their classic banh mi was excellent, the pho was good, the vermicelli bowl had excellent spring rolls, although the vermicelli was cold. Overall a very nice place. Order at the counter.

Delicious flavors! - Edit
Wow! This place is a must go! The flavors of the broth of the Bun Hue were so wonderfully complex. I tasted a hint of cinnamon and star anise maybe? So good! The lotus salad was also delicious with a lightly sweetened dressing. The spring rolls in the Bun Cha were so tasty! The filling in them had black sesame seeds. And they have oat milk Thai iced tea and coffee!

They have a bamboo fan just like the one my grandma used to have, I’m truly thankful for a place like this, the noodle reminds me the one I had when I was a kid, we called it 米苔目 , the detail of every dish it feels like not just a dish but eating love, the love and passion from the chef is expressing through the dish
