Only vegan Vietnamese spot in NYC! - Edit
2025-05-04: ORIGINAL POST
Read moreCute little spot in lower Manhattan with kind staff, good service, and excellent food! Extra bonus knowing it’s the only vegan Vietnamese restaurant in the city. It’s a small space with a few tables and no outdoor seating, but was able to snag one of the last tables for 2 people as a walk-in on a raining weekend day for lunch.
Ordered the banh mi nam dau hu sa (lemongrass tofu and mushroom) which was super delicious!! Some of the lemongrass flavor was a bit pungent for my taste but overall it was uniquely flavorful and a hearty size.
Also had a pre-packages Thai iced tea (for a reasonable $4.50) which was a lovely complement to my meal. It was not too sweet which is just how I like it. I a always jump at the chance for vegan Thai iced tea and this hit the spot!
Will definitely want to come back to try more (especially the Bun Hue and Pho Sen that the server recommended).
2026-07-16: UPDATE
I happily returned to Sen Saigon. I ordered my favorite banh mi nam dau hu sa (lemongrass tofu and mushroom). My friend ordered summer rolls, which were a classic staple. We both tried a new summer special (a corn sticky rice pudding) which was refreshing!

Yummy pho - Edit
This was delicious. I had the beef tofu pho. The tofu was crispy but also pillowy, and the broth was full of flavor. I enjoyed the soy based meats and mushrooms that they used as well. I also had a Vietnamese iced coffee that came in a little bottle. I will be back to try the pork dishes! In terms of ambiance I feel like this would be a really cute spot for a date, it’s not too loud and the food leaves you satisfied but not feeling gross after. Definitely come here!

Delicious small authentic delight - Edit
This little gem is amazing. If you haven’t been I suggest going. Owner has a passion for feeding vegans all the flavors she enjoyed growing up in Vietnam. She has an amazing IG page as well. Have been a couple times and always am delighted. Don’t forget to try her Flan! Delicious 🤤

Wonderful bahn mi’s - Edit
It was so good I ate here back to back days. They pork belly is life changing. Full disclosure: I’ve never had “real” pork belly, so can’t compare it to the real thing. But no need bc this is soooo tasty it doesn’t matter. Shout out to the lady sitting beside me the first visit who insisted I try her pork belly which then led to a visit the next day for the pork belly bahn mi.

All vegan, all delicious - Edit
It’s great to have a friendly, affordable fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant in NYC again. (The very special family-run LAN in the East Village closed years ago.) We ordered the lunch specials: tofu banh mi and bun, a rice noodle dish, side salad and drink, and tofu stuffed cold spring rolls. Everything was delicious, served in generous portions. Pho is also on the menu. I loved the house brand Vietnamese coffee and Thai iced tea with oat milk and minimal sweetener. Looking forward to going back for pho and other side dishes too.
Read moreThe restaurant space is small and narrowed with 8 or 10 tables. Service is friendly and quick. Order at the counter. Even though the website specified take out or
delivery at lunch, several tables were filled. I think the policy has changed

Best vegan Vietnamese food I’ve had - Edit
This was actually fantastic. The lime-chili tofu was amazing, perfect texture and delicious sauce. The pork belly was incredibly accurate and so so good. Food was a little pricy, as to be expected, but portion sizes were good and filling. Would absolutely come back.

Delicious bun hue - Edit
Sen Saigon is very casual. You order at the counter, and they bring your food out to your table (or packaged to go) when it’s ready. I think there are seats for 16 diners, and when I arrived around 7pm, it was less than half full. There were several orders for pickup and delivery while I was there too.
Read moreI truly enjoyed my bun hue. I probably could have eaten two servings. I would have liked more noodles and more extras (fake meat, tofu, sprouts). It’s the type of food, though, I’d be happy eating every day. Since I was still hungry, I also had a flan Viet. It fell a little short of my expectations. It was my first vegan flan, and I wanted a better balance between the sweet and savory. It tasted like they used oat-based half and half, and that was the dominant flavor I kept getting. Overall, this place is a gem! I wanna work my way through their entire menu.

Excellent “Pork Belly” Bahn Mi and Bun Hue - Edit
Sen Saigon is a tight little space filled to the brim with hospitality and technique.
Read moreBefore any food came out, we were served a complimentary steaming hot cup of artichoke tea, already starting off with some interesting herbal and floral flavors.
The bun hue was a really nice light lemongrass broth and a nice medium spice, I added some of the chili/garlic/ginger paste they include on the table. The medium heat pork belly bahn mi was incredible, they make it in house and layer soy rib, tapioca starch and rice paper, deep fry that, and it has the most incredible fatty layered texture. Heat and flavor was deep and complex with the in-house pate.
We finished with the Vietnamese Flan, also incredibly textured with some deep eggy custardy flavor.
Need to stop here every time I’m in Chinatown!

I honestly don’t understand how they got that texture with the soy ribs on the Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, but *whoa* was that tasty.

Could be better - Edit
I had the banh mi sandwich with a cup of broth and flan. It was pretty good, but I feel they could work better on bringing out the flavors of the sandwich. Portions could also be bigger. The flan was delicious and the Thai tea was perfectly sweetened. Might be willing to try a different item on their menu next time

Can’t wait to go back - Edit
Their vegan pork belly is 10/10 — if you’re curious to try something different this is the place (don’t think I’ve ever seen vegan pork belly anywhere else). Apart from that, everything else looked delicious, so I would def go back to try other things (or maybe have some more vegan pork belly in a bahn mi)

incredible vegan pork belly, space too small for dining - Edit
pork belly was one of my favorite foods back when i ate meat and i didn’t think i’d ever get to enjoy it again. i got the pork belly bahn mi and it did not disappoint, but be careful if you’re dining in. the space is so small that the tables are so close together that i witnessed multiple people bumping into others and spilling or dropping their meals or drinks throughout the course of my meal

Only all-vegan Vietnamese place in Manhattan - Edit
This counter-serve place is located in the east side of NYC's Chinatown, which a little removed from the touristy parts of Chinatown. They have a nice assortment of Vietnamese vegan food; not too fancy, but very good and down to earth. I have the vermicelli with vegan soy ribs and vegan fish; it was good.
