Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

This place is special... 💜

Střecha is a great example of what vegan really means. You can be vegan and follow a plant-based diet, but at the same time, support other causes that are just as important.
✊🏽

Thank you for what you do. It is a pleasure to be able to support you. 🙏🏽

The food was good, I liked some dishes more than others. I really liked the cabbage pancakes and will try to make them at home! 🙈
The dumpling stuffed with soy mince and red cabbage was also super tasty!

I didn't really like the vegan picked sausage, it's hard to make good v sausages.
Also the 'duck' cooked in wine with dumplings was not for me.
The spices are quite strong and the flavors don't match, in my opinion.

The traditional Czech pie for dessert was a pleasant surprise!

Best of luck! 🍀

Pros: Social cause, Nice spacious restaurant, Workers are super attentive! 👍🏽

Idee toll- Umsetzung leider nicht

Schade!

Nice herbs, hearty meals

The food was well seasoned and creative. On a Saturday at 13:30 they only served brunch until 14:30, so not many main dishes were available, but the few were really good (shakshuka, loaded rösti with vegan salmon). Variety of cakes

Amazing initiative

Just the project by itself its worth a visit but not only that the food is really really tasteful, the atmosphere is super cozy (quite a bit romantic id say) and the service is spectacular. Thank you for taking me in with the house full.
Went there both for dinner and brunch and couldnt have chosen better.

Absolute Empfehlung! Hausmannskost vegan

Very very bad decision

The most tasteless dishes. I was once served plain rice with 2 pieces of steamed broccoli as a vegan dish and it was much better than anything we were served here.
It smell like pepper inside. Has a very weird vibe.
The vegan meat was extremely salty, dumplings tasted like cement and cabbage was swimming in sugar.
I’m deeply disappointed.

Moreover, the cutlery including cups were dirty.

I would give -5* if I could bur the app won’t let me.

Cons: Weird vibe and smell , Dirty cutlery , Horribly wrong taste

Best for Vegan Czech food

They serve excellent Czech style food but 100% vegan. So good I visited 3 times during my stay and had 3 different starters and mains. It's also much cheaper than the old town. Staff were lovely.

Pros: Food, Value for money, Staff

Very nice food

The food didn't take long and the food was very nice, especially considering the low prices (compared to Germany at least). Have a wide variety of cakes, though I only tried the vegan duck and schnitzel, the second which I can definitely recommend!

Amazing Fried Vegan Cheese

I particularly found this to be the best restaurant in Prague, compared to all the others we had the opportunity to go. The staff were polite, kind and friendly, and communicated very well in English. We even went more than once because we liked it so much. We ordered the "Czech Vegan Braun" as a starter, which went very well with the "Budvar 33" beer. The main dishes were "Schnitzels with Potato Salad", "Budvar Goulash" and the tasty "Fried Vegan Cheese with Fries". The latter was the best dish, in our opinion, and very typical of the Czech Republic. A good amount for one person. Interesting place. The beer was amazing. Well worth the experience.

Great vision disappointing flavour

We ordered the red house wine and it was watery and bloody tasting. The goulash was very strong tasted too much like beer and the “dumplings” tasted like nothing just uncooked bread, i had to really dip them in the sauce. The starters were okay (olives and tofu spread) the olives arrived together with the main dish and the tofu spread was forgotten until we reminded the waitress and turns out she never even ordered it. We came to this restaurant with high expectations due to the good reviews in the app but came out with a full belly but not satisfied at all.

Pros: Nice ambience and presentation , Good social mission , Good sourdough

Cons: Expensive for what it was , Forgotten food , Not tasting as expected

Amazing comfort food

We visited Střecha during our trip to Prague after reading so many amazing reviews, and we weren't disappointed! The food is delicious, portions are more than generous, and the staff is is very nice and helpful. I recommend reserving a table in advance as it gets crowded.

Pros: Kebab plate, They hire and help former inmates

Vegan restaurant that offers some typical Czech dishes

Great social concept and entirely vegan restaurant pretty centrally located.
I was here twice and tried the dumplings with red cabbage and a lunch menu.
The dumplings were more like bread and kind of dry with little filling, the cabbage was good but a bit too sweet for me. Still glad I tried something different.
The daily lunch option was okay, a bowl with quinoa and vish balls that were super dry but the taste was decent.

Good bread and that's it

Maybe a chose wrong but the goulaash tasted like nothing, very little with a lot of bread. The bread was really good but without something good on the side it doesn't work. The prices were high, Not unpayably high but for that food I would rather go to almost anywhere elae.

Genialer Burger

War sehr lecker preislich gut und der Kuchen war auch super, auch wenn ich mir wünschte der Erdbeerkuchen hätte mehr nach Erdbeeren geschmeckt und weniger nach Zitronen.

Pros: Beer, Burger, Fries

Cons: Strawberry Cake Citrus Flavour

Just Okay

Went there with my partner.
We had the garlic soup and the brawn as firsts and goulash and red cabbage with dumplings as mains.
The brawn was inedible… avoid it. It’s impossible to switch or cancel, so better to avoid it altogether.
The soup was okay.
The goulash was mediocre. The red cabbage with dumplings was great.
During dinner we had live music - which was great and improved the atmosphere.
Service was so-so. Nobody asked if we liked the food or for any feedback.
Would have ranked it lower, if not for the social aspect, live music and the red cabbage with dumplings.

Pros: Red cabbage with dumplings , Live music, Social awareness

Cons: Brawn!!!, Service

Good mission, good food

I really like the mission of this place, and that you can pay a lunch forward. The service was good and the food arrived very quickly. I had the no-duck and red cabbage. It was hearty and authentic and very good value, though a little over hyped in my opinion. The duck was quite tough, though the red cabbage was lovely. I would go back but not before trying other food that Prague has to offer.

Pros: Service, Price, Mission
