Great food with a great mission - Edit
We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
Read moreWe ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Definitely come here!!! - Edit
A great restaurant with so many options, it's great being able to try traditional/local food on holiday as a vegan and this place definitely delivered! Shared the goulash and the schnitzel with potato salad, both were delicious. Friendly restaurant and good place to support as it employs people who have been/are homeless.

Czech cuizine veganized. High hopes. Mixed bag. - Edit
Visited May 8th, 2025. Found it on Google Maps/Happy Cow.
Read moreSince being a child, I've always loved the czech fried cheese with fries and tartar sauce.
Now being vegan, of course I take every chance I get to try a vegan fried cheese! And in what better place than here, serving traditional czech food transformed into vegan awesomeness.
But wanting to spice things up a bit, I asked if I could have the cheese with a potato salad instead of fries (yes, I know, I know, I'm that guy - but it was on the menu!), but that was a hard pass.
What about the friggen cheese then? Well, it tasted a lot like Violife block,
which I'm -personally- not very fond of.
I also ordered the garlic soup, which -strangely- had no trace of garlic whatsoever.
Pivo of the occasion was a 300 ml (60 czk) "Chříč 13 IPA" - which from investigating a bit on Untappd, seemingly is the IPA (5.5%) called "Vinnetou" from the brewery Chříč.
A tad bit bitter, but went well with the food.
If I come back some day, which I'm still happy to (bad luck with the cheese I don't really like, but also the garlic free garlic soup!) - I'd go for something like the Budvar goulash, the kebab or the no-duck dish and see what it's like.
Kudos however for well, obviously for being 100% vegan, but also for doing humanitarian work for homeless people and having the option of paying for someone else's lunch.
Dished I had:
Rostlinný smažák s hranolkami (Fried vgn cheese w/fries) - 240 czk
Česnečka s krutony (Garlic soup w/croutons) - 80 czk
Pros: Czech cuisine veganized, Doing humanitarian things, Affordable
Cons: Garlic soup didn't taste any garlic

Read moreI never thought I’d be able to try Czech food in my life, but here we are. Amazing!
The dumplings over cabbage were great as well as the soy sirloin.
The pate and tofu spread were truly delicious, the bread here alone is over the top.
The service staff were friendly and there’s ample seating.
Pros: Friendly staff, Ample seating

Veganized Czech Cuisine - Edit
The service was good and so was the food! Definitely make a reservation. For starters my husband had garlic soup with croutons and the no-egg tofu spread which really did taste like egg! I had the vegan pate which was nice (but wish there were more cranberries). For mains my husband had the budvar goulash which he really enjoyed. I had the soy sirloin in creamy vegetable sauce which was delicious. However, I wish there would have been more sirloin and less bread dumplings. For dessert we took away a brownie, raspberry cheesecake, and slice of banana bread. The brownie and banana bread were great, but the cheesecake was not as sweet or thick as I would have preferred. It seemed all the sweetness came from the raspberry topping.

Best vegan Place I’ve ever been to - Edit
Very kind staff, super tasty food and it’s cheap as well. We are so used to sometimes paying double of what you would pay in a non-vegan restaurant but at this place you can eat whatever you want, no matter what your budget is. They also offer a “buy a meal for a stranger” item where you can pay for a meal for a homeless person.

Bad service bad food - Edit
I went during dinner time and the service was appalling, instead of seating us and taking our order the staff were chatting. Even after I went up to ask them to take our order it still took an extra 5 minutes. It wasn’t particularly busy either. The food was also just bad other then the starters we had. It was bland and the textures were off. The duck dumplings were stodgy and quite hard. The ribs were this bland loaf of dough I don’t even know why it was called ribs.

Cozy, clean atmosphere with friendly and quick staff. I had the wrap, and homemade ice tea, both were delicious. The prices are very good, especially given the locality, and the tastiness of the food.

comfy restaurant offering vegan traditional czech food. we tried the vegan cheese platter which was really satisfying and all the cheese types tasted very fine. we also had the no-duck and the sirloin which was both very good. the dumplings were rather dry and tasted bland but still alright with sauce or the cabbage. really nice staff as well. only can recommend!

Nice atmosphere - Edit
Paid a visit here to try some traditional Czech food. Unfortunately for me I found the food very rich and heavy but obviously this is a personal thing and the dishes looked very authentic. I liked the fried cheese the most. The restaurant is pretty big with lots of seating. They have books and board games for customers which was fun. The staff were friendly, however they didn't seem to pay attention to each other as we were asked three times if we wanted to order, twice after we had ordered. Hope to go back here and try some of the international cuisine as I really liked the vibe of the place.

Staff were super lovely and the restaurant has a lovely ethos but the food was only ok. I had the goulash which was too rich and my husband had the ribs which he liked but i thought they just tasted like bread. chips were good though.
