Serves meat, vegan options available. Middle Eastern restaurant which offers plenty of dishes clearly labelled vegan on the menu and more with a vegan option. Examples of dishes include falafel pita, falafel plate, hummus, various salads, vegetable stew and plenty of vegan breads, sides and dips. Also has a vegan apple crumble with vegan coconut ice-cream for dessert.. Formerly vegetarian but began adding non-veg items late 2019. Great icecream - Edit
Didn’t eat food, just desserts, date cookie is more nutty cookie than date.., icecream was delicious. A bit pricy, as in europe…

Vegan apple crumble!! - Edit
Only had dessert at this restaurant as we had already eaten dinner that evening.
Read moreHad the apple crumble with the passion fruit sorbet and it was delicious. Also tried their vegan chocolate ball cake which was also really nice.
Restaurant is in a lovely setting, with very friendly staff.
They have several vegan / vegetarian options on the menu which are clearly marked however they do serve animal products now which is obviously very disappointing.
The fact they were fully vegetarian before just makes it even harder to swallow in my opinion.
Apparently the decision was made though on the survival of the restaurant with covid so not an easy one for the owner to make.
With so many great 100% vegan restaurants on the Island I'd personally prefer my cash to go and support their owners.
My rating is based on the dessert, setting and service.

Evening top, lunch Flop - Edit
First time in Taboon was amazing, good service and big portions for the invest. Second time at lunch we found unmotivated staff, hard potatos and the hummus portion was not as big like at our first time.
Read moreThe staff asked like usual if everything was ok and we said no. But no reaction at all. Seems that they don’t need more satisfied guests.

Sadly No Longer Veg. - Edit
This restaurant used to be vegetarian, but not anymore. I discovered this Nov 2019, not sure how long this has been the case for.
Read moreSince they do still have a veg menu with clear vegan options we still gave it a go.
The mushroom pocket pie thing with salad that I tried was pretty good. Also tried a stew which was tasty.
The atmosphere is nice.
I did find the experience disappointing but maybe would have been different if I hadn't gone expecting them to be fully veg.
Pros: Vegan options are clear, Pretty tasty
Cons: No longer veg :(

Ok - Edit
Lovely place, few vegan options. However the mushroom salad was not filling, it needs some beans or chickpeas to make it into a proper meal. Portion was big, it was really tasty but you will be hungry real soon if you have it by itself. Adding extra dishes make the meal real pricey..

Tasteless - Edit
Nice place and friendly staff BUT the food was tasteless and uninspired. I had the steamed veggie plate and rice. Everything was heartless and tasteless. Even the rice tasted like nothing. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place.

Delicious food - Edit
We went there in the evening - very nice atmosphere with all the lights in the garden and on the patio. Had some fresh pita which was amazing with some good dips. Compared to other places it can cost you a bit more, depending on how many dips and pitas you get. I really liked the coriander pesto dip, hummus was also good. It is a vegetarian place so vegan options are a bit limited but clearly marked.

Tasteless! - Edit
The place is quite nice and the staff were pretty friendly. I ordered the yogi plate, and in all honesty it was so bland and unpleasant. I left most of it, which is rare for me. Maybe it was the dish that I ordered, but it comprised of a salad, a soup and a bean stew with red rice and gluten free bread. The bread was hard like a biscuit, the soup was so bad. The stew was bland and very average and the salad was ok at best. I wouldn’t go back there.

The food here is so yummy. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The price is so reasonable for the quality that you get. So many options for vegans. Will be eating here again :) :)

Fresh Baked Breads - Edit
This is a vegetarian place with few vegan options. Breakfast choices for vegan are not too many. Highlight of the place are in house freshly baked middle eastern breads. Falafel was average.Pizza was a hit and miss. Taste was OK. Staff friendly but service was slow, had to go to remind of what we needed. Seat out is good, relaxing ambience with tables in the garden and ground sitting with cushions inside.

Nice ambience, friendly staff and good food with a side boutique. I prefer vegan and wet food at a lower price, this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Vegetarian with quite a few vegan options - Edit
Garden setting and chill vibe, even though it is off a busy road. There is relaxed music, lots of plants and cool seating on floor pillows, or chairs if preferred.
Read moreThe menu is extensive, with more vegetarian choices than vegan, but I didn't have any problem finding something that appealed. I ordered a salad with beets and pears which was very good. The photo in the menu showed it with nuts and seeds sprinkled on it, but I did not see any. The dressing was tasty.
The thing that was out of this world was the fresh, hot pita - amazingly good. I would return just for that, and maybe order hummus and falafel next time, as I imagine those would be their specialities.
Not many vegan breakfast options, more for lunch/dinner.
Nice place to bring a friend because the relaxed, quiet atmosphere would lend itself to great conversation.

friendly Middle Eastern place - Edit
Very nice pleasant setting, friendly stuff. Their burmese tea leaf salad was excellent and so was the falafel plate with coriander pesto and tahini. You can order fresh pita breads with amazing dips, like baba ganoush, pesto or the pepper spread. Very nice choice of kombucha and vegan kefir, but those are not on the menu, you’ll find them in the fridge together with their desserts. I will be back to sample their shakshuka, looks promising:)

The best and tastiest vegan food - Edit
When you get bored of restaurants that look nicer and trendier than what the food eventually is, go to Taboon! There are so many vegetarian restaurants in Srithanu, but I couldn´t test them all because I wanted to come back to Taboon.
Read moreGreen salad had kale in it, but it was full of flavour with the sesame dressing. So it´s not just bland side dish.
Mushroom bowl was amazing. It might be a bit salty for some tastes, so you might like eg rice with it.
I also tried falafels, hummus, babaganoush and pita (either sumac or za´aar). I tnink it´s a nice place where to sit in the evenings.
Pros: Very tasty food, Unusual dishes like mushroom bowl

Simply delicious - Edit
Since many vegan places open at 12pm we decided to try Taboon for breakfast/brunch. We started off with a Crêpe with fruits and then got their falafel plate with extra hummus and the potato sambusak. All dishes were delicious and super filling. I especially loved the potato sambusak with the matbucha dip!

We had the awesome home made pita bread, easily the best bread of any kind on KohPanghan. Made fresh when you order it, arrives still hot! Their hummus, falafel and smoothies were all outstanding. Service was great and responsive when requesting mosquito controls. We felt cared for. Reasonable prices. Yum!

Delicious homemade bread and dips - Edit
I ate twice at Taboon during my last stay in Sri Thanu and swooned for days over the Zatar Pita bread, the Tahini (which I only knew as the tangy stuff that goes into hummus but apparently if it's homemade and fresh it's delicious on its own) and Hummus but especially the Coriander pesto. Super delicious!!! We sat outside on the patio under the illuminated trees and the stars. It was grand.
