Vegan Gem on Berkeley/Oakland Border - Edit
Must go here if you’re in the area, friendliest owner and service top! Ordered the asada burrito without pico de gallo (no onions for me) and salsa on the side! Would order again and ask if they can split it, it’s huge! Ate* like 2/3 in one go! Saved the other part for a late dinner.

Oh my goodness the tacos here were SO GOOD. We were on a lil mini food tour here and were almost too full to get tacos and I'm so glad we pushed through. We had the Japanese sweet potato, fried chicken, and el pastor tacos. I'm not exaggerating when I say the fried chicken is the best I have ever had, and everything else was phenomenal. Guava lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. Everything was so good that we ordered extra burritos to go. Almost makes me want to move here, honestly.

This place is amazing. Their refried beans use homemade lard which is insane. Every taco here is great. The chicken and fried chicken were amazing. Highly recommend.

Surprised when I opened this page that I have yet to leave a review for Venganza despite being a customer for years. This place has perfected childhood memories of going to taco stands in East LA and East Oakland outside of people's home's with great homemade recipes of salsa's and meat marinades.
Read moreIn particular, I am big fan of their pollo tacos, asada tacos, and all the mushroom variation tacos. Other things on the menu such as nachos and burritos are great, but the go to for me is always taco's.

Wow this hit the spot! I ordered the 3 taco plate with pickles on the side and it was SO delicious!! The Beyond beef was super tasty and very filling. This will definitely be my new go-to for amazing Mexican food. I ordered via DoorDash and order to door was about 30 minutes, despite being a 20 minute drive away. Super fast.

I think their Asada Taco is their top-seller, but the standout for me were their tacos with oyster mushrooms. I had the Mushroom Chicharrón, Mushroom Al Pastor, and their (soy) Asada Tacos. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. Highly recommend.

We’ve been following Raul for awhile and we have always loved his food. The super secret brunch definitely did not disappoint. We ordered a breakfast burrito and tacos; it was so good. The best vegan breakfast burrito that I’ve ever had since becoming vegan over 10 years ago.

We ordered tacos, nachos, a burrito, and a horchata here. The tacos were absolutely outstanding (5 stars) You can get different flavours in each one at 3 for $15, or $17 to get three plus rice and beans. The nachos were OK (3 star) not my favourite. They were tasty but compared to the tacos especially, nothing special. Burrito was decent (4 star), my boyfriend really liked it - we got one of the mushroom specialty meats in it which was awesome. Also it was huge - lot of bang for your buck. I liked the horchata but my boyfriend thought it was too thick and sweet. Overall, if you go, I definitely recommend getting tacos or a taco meal with the rice and beans. So delicious!

Was so happy to eat here after leaving the Bay years ago and dreaming about the taco cart from downtown Oakland. The resto did not disappoint and even my omni friends claimed it’s the best burrito they’ve had anywhere. Delicious flavor, perfect salsa, generous portion! Perfect!

The restaurant said they prefer phone orders, not Uber or Doordash, etc.

Outstanding food variety and prepped with generous portions. I tried the triple street taco combo and can’t wait to go back. One table for 2 inside for now. So plan on picking up. Well worth it.

Really loved the vegan meats. They were delicious in the tacos. I was really disappointed that everything came in a big plastic container instead of compostable paper items, even when we ordered to eat in at the small table in the restaurant. We likely won’t be returning for a while simply for the waste created.
Read moreI enjoyed the tacos. Didn’t love the burrito as much because it was just the meat, refried beans, and rice, so there wasn’t much texture like there would be if there were lettuce or veggies in the burrito. But it was a very generous size.

All vegan taco place! Burritos are giant, each are enough for 2 meals. And they are absolutely delicious! Wide selection of vegan meats! The guy who runs this place is also a fun follow on social media! It’s a very small space, so best to order for takeout if you can. Takeout order was ready very fast despite it being a busy night!

been to the spot on telegraph a couple of times now... been getting the 3 taco sampler.. this last time al pastor, pollo, and carnitas.. all so tasty and juicy... the beans and rice side just the right compliment.. i spied the tray of sweets and treated myself there too... i am blown away how much i enjoy the concha plant based versus when i cave in and buy at panaderia..

Hearty and tasty vegan tacos in Oakland - Edit
I was curious to check out Taqueria La Venganza with my uncle since was a all vegan taco spot.
Read moreWe each ordered the taco plate which comes with a sampler of three different tacos with a side of beans and rice. Hearty portions and flavorful. Done up right.
The only hiccup was no where to sit at the restaurant so me and my uncle got it to go to the bar down the block called Whitehorse which worked out just fine for the 49ers were playing an elimination game against the Packers.
I got a basketball jones yet you can't get more American than football in a bar so of course I rooted for the 49ers that came up with the W.
Back to the cuisine. It was quite alright. Me and my uncle both enjoyed it. Probably my favorite vegan tacos in America were at Vegan Nom in Austin aka the food truck yet here hit the spot and glad Whitehorse was a welcoming place to enjoy our eats.
