Very tasty soul food - Edit
Apparently it’s taken me 3 years to get here, and I have no idea why. The food is very good. It’s an interesting place, almost seeming like it doubles as a childcare facility, with a hopscotch taped on the floor and children’s drawings and paintings on the wall. I kind of like it. It’s different.

Would go again! - Edit
The food was great and the owner was sweet! We ordered close to one of everything on the menu when we went to stock up on soul food before leaving Chicago. It all tasted great. The food all seemed more homemade than most vegan restaurants serving comfort food that I've been to lately (no beyond burgers, it was all tofu, cauliflower, and jackfruit etc. based)

Great BBQ'ed deliciousness - Edit
Ordered online before pick up to take into the city. Great communication about the order being ready. The food made the car smell like heaven! We got bbq tofu ribs, jackfruit salad and mushroom wings. Everything was outstanding in flavor and texture. Filling and flavorful food that is worth stopping for!

Huge Portions, Tasty Food, Courteous Service - Edit
Omigosh! I've been here twice and have been blown away by the huge portions(enough for two) and want-to-die-for full menu -- lunch, dinner, sides, add-ons, desserts, kid's meals, even gluten-free. My first visit I ordered a jerk salad and 6 chikken wings with fries. The fries were tasty, not soggy. Sparkle warned me that the jerk salad was very spicy: she offered me a bottle of water. I then tackled the wings with the orange sauce and left happy and very full. The second time I had the jackfruit salad and Green Bling juice; I went home happy and comfortably full. The 6 meetup members who joined me were amazed by the large portions, unsoggy fries and tasty meals. A conversation about adaptagen mushrooms ensued.

nice casual place for a meal - Edit
The place looks nondescript on the outside but was light, airy, clean and inviting on the inside. Staff were friendly, the menu was reasonably broad, and prices were average for a vegan cafe. I ordered the jackfruit sliders, one BBQ and one jerk, and both were delicious (if on the small side, as the word "slider' would imply). The fries that came with them were stellar and abundant enough that I was full without ordering anything else. I will be back.....

Put a Sparkle 💖 In your Life - Edit
Hearty home cooked comfort food. My daughter had the tofu ribs (crunchy with lots of yummy sauce) and fried pickles (so yummy!) I had the tofu BBQ egg rolls (they tasted more like onion rings!) and fries. The Egg rolls are deep fried and take 30 minutes. Totally worth it! We each got a mini cheesecake (sea weed and strawberry). Everything was delicious. Sparkle is the owner/cook and is a ray of sunshine! So sweet!
Read moreWhile we were there 3 neighborhood kids with their bikes and 2 CTA workers stopped by to eat. This is a friendly neighborhood place! Not a tourist spot. If you’re looking for the real deal in soul food, this is it.
Pros: Hearty comfort food , Cozy friendly “neighborhood “ vibe , Sparkle the owner!
Cons: Parking (like the rest of Chicago) , Cheesecakes were small (will order more next time

So good! - Edit
So I first found them on grubhub and placed an order ( which was delicious ) and then realized they were right down the street from my Apt! I have been there many many times since and have had just about everything on the menu which has not disappointed! My favorites are the Portabella Gyro, fried pickles and all the pies! Always adding new items/specials, the owner Sparkle is awesome, check them out. Headed over there today or tomorrow to try the new Chicken sandwich.
