I ordered phish and chips with poutine, and I don’t think they quite took the time to make it good. It just had some strands of cheese thrown in instead of melted and the batter of the phish was not super well done and pretty flavorless. I agree with some other review here that maybe it’s not a great place to get takeout from

Hogtown vegan is my favourite restaurant for sure! I have been eating here since they first opened (around 2012-2013 or so) and visit at least a couple times a year (more when finances allow!) Including on my birthday. They have an excellent selection and everything is super tasty. Some of my favourites are the Caesar salad and the bacon cheeseburger. Now I'm hungry!!

Pros: Great service, Caesar salad (it's soooo good!), Portion sizes are fantastic

Couldn't make it to the restaurant so decided to order in. We had poutine, phish and chips, mac'n'cheese, collard greens, wings and waffel sticks. The poutine and phish and chips got quite mushy during the delivery, but everything else was quite nice but not neccesary worth the hype – except for the collard greens that were delicious. Might just be were not the target audience.

Really great food and my server was so kind and lovely. The mains/appetisers were great. The birthday cake parfait wasn’t the nicest so I don’t recommend that but otherwise perfect.

The lady serving us was really friendly. The vibe was cool and cosy (good playlist too). We got a range of dishes, including the Southern Combo, the Reuben, and the soy wings. All were delicious. Enough stuff for the vegetarians in the group who aren’t overly fond of vegan cheese. All round great spot would recommend!

Read moreWe ordered the unChicken Burger in buffalo Poutine and unChicken Waffles. Both REALLY tasty! The poutine was so good and full of flavour. Well seasoned fries and perfect sauce.
The Waffles come with spiced cream (something like ice, really good!) and well garlic-ed greens.
They offer Boylans Cherry Coke (and other flavours of Boylan), which makes us verry happy.
Would eat here again and again!
Waitress was so cute, super friendly and seemed to love her job. 5/5!❤️

This was…..incredible. 11/10. Took us so long to choose because everything sounded amazing. UnChicken and waffles was the perfect sweet and savoury and the poutine was drool worthy. We did ask for an extra side of gravy cause the fries at the bottom were dry from not enough sauce but they were super fast and it was perfection. We will be back.. like tomorrow lol!

There's something about Southern food. It might be that it's handled with such care. Maybe it's cooked more slowly. Maybe it's the quality or combination of ingredients. Regardless of the reason, I search far and wide for vegan restaurants that can cook it well. Hogtown Vegan does just that (and in Canada of all places).
Read moreHogtown's atmosphere is cool and relaxed. The indoor seating is eclectic. The outdoor seating is simple. We ordered the Mac and Cheese, Poutine Dream (when in Canada, and obviously not a Southern U.S. creation), and Seitan Chicken-fried Steak. Warning: Order light because the portions are hospitable at an affordable price. The Mac and Cheese is light, creamy, with a good level of smoke and spice, and topped with breadcrumbs. The Poutine Dream is smothered with a rosemary gravy that sings. The fried seitan strips, chewy and moist, compound the high achievement of this dish. I wished for vegan curds, but the Daiya cheese is a welcome substitute. The Seitan Chicken-fried Steak was the star of the meal, perfectly breaded and fried with an incredibly complex seitan texture that left me wondering if this was house-made or store-bought. Either way, I need more of this "steak" in my life.
I've had Southern food in much of the United States. Aside from maybe one place (now closed forever in the Washington D.C. area), Hogtown Vegan is making a strong case for the best southern creations.

Was pretty disappointed considering this is a well-rated restaurant. Collard greens were super bland which is understandable since the dish relies on its flavor from the meat, but it was SERIOUSLY bland, no salt or anything. Everything else on our plate was just ok. The service was good, wasn't satisfied with the meals.

I got the southern plate - had a hard time choosing because everything sounded good! It did not disappoint. I’ve had many vegan Mac and cheeze and this was one of the best. Definitely want to try to chikn and waffles. Solid portion sizes, cute vibe, plus cocktail options & dessert - what’s not to love?

We were only in Toronto a couple of days and were fortunate enough that this was on our path. We stopped by just for a bite to takeaway and had the buffalo wings with dill ranch. They were beautiful!

Southern Combo ( Chick'n was basic but the BBQ sauce fixed that. The collard green side is a great addition and Mac & cheese was delicious)
Quesadilla with chipotle dip ( mostly black beans not much veggies. Still good and filling)
Chili cheez fries good portion I just needed extra heat so I added tobacco to make it spicy )
Over all the food was good and portions were great. Will definitely go back and try the rest of the menu
Pros: Good Portions , Yummy flavours , Dipping sauces are a gre way to elevate the flavor
