Est. May 2024. Features rich plant-based/vegan brothless tantan noodles, making its Japan debut from Men Impossible in Amsterdam. Special thick and chewy noodles with a rich sauce, combined with local specialties such as mushrooms and buckwheat seeds, which capture the essence of Shinshu (Nagano Prefecture). "Red spicy umami" is a rich and savoury bowl featuring a unique blend of chili oil with a spicy sauce. "Black roasty sesame" is sesame-packed, thick tantan noodles with an aroma of black sesame with a mild spice level. Also offers "extra-large noodles". Worth revisiting!

This is my third time here in 4 months. As one reviewer said, it is not a noodle stand but based on that idea. It’s a small, casual place with only 2 delicious main dishes. Even with only two items, I still have trouble deciding. But I think the red spicy umami is my fave. Despite the comments of another reviewer that the staff aren’t friendly to foreigners, I have found it to be the opposite.

Pros: Two dishes minimises choice anxiety, Handy to train station, Delicious!

Cons: Small so get there early, I wish I lived closer!

It is not an actual stand - excellent vegan restaurant

You may be put off by the name of the restaurant. It is not an actual stand, it is an excellent (but moderately sized) restaurant. It is vegan and has effectively two dishes with instructions on how the dish shoule be eaten. The two dishes that are offered are either spicy or not spicy. I had the spicy dish and loved it (mildly spicy). Fully recommend. Go there!

Pros: Tasty food and new culinary experience, Service

No foreigners!!!!

Never in my 69 years had service like it. Fully booked despite being 1/4 full at 1800.
Open 6 hours next day all fully booked.
Avoid

Amazing noodles

This was honestly just such an amazing spot. In this whole region it is quite difficult to find good vegan food options, so we were pleasently surprised by finding a completely vegan place in the centre of Matsumoto. They serve two kinds of noodles and you should definitely try both of them. We preferred the sesame version but both of them are delicious. The only downside might be that they are only open for dinner, so we could not go there for lunch as well.

Pros: Completely vegan, Great taste

Great experience

Couldn’t wait to eat here after reading the reviews. So good! I choose the black sesame sauce. Wish there was some way to get the recipe for that sauce!

It’s a must in Masumoto!

Our first experience with soupless tan tan, and the flavours and textures were incredible! The how-to-eat guide really took your tastebuds for a ride. 🌈

Two dishes done REALLY well

Two variations on soupless Tan Tan noodles - an amazing black sesame version, and the also amazing spicy miso version. The sauce is fantastic, and the toppings go well. I ordered the 150% noodle version of each and shared with someone else. We left very satisfied and planning on coming back the next day. Pretty well much perfect.

Please note that the restaurant is on the east side of the block. GoogleMaps might take you to the west side of the block, which won't help you. Restaurant is attached to a small business hotel.

Full of flavour!

We had the Red Spicy Umami and it was the tastiest dish we’ve had in Japan! The flavour was truly amazing! We went both days we were in Matsumoto!

Delicious

They have two main dishes, both of which are vegan and really tasty. Plenty of fresh veggies on top of noodles and a thick tasty sauce. One of my favourite meals in Matsumoto.

Delicious mazesoba style TanTan Ramen

We visited here just after their grand opening.
I took a "Red Spicy Umami". Wow!! I was completely blown away by this ramen, even it is not a traditinal soup based ramen. I enjoyed diverse flavours, it is surprisingly delicious, and all plant-based by the way. Would recommend this place to all people, including vegans, vegetarians and non-veg.

Pros: Delicious Ramen, also available japanese alcoholic soda cocktail
