We had decent ramen here, but not amazing. The restaurant is hard to find in the subway station. You have to buy a ticket, go through the turnstiles, go up a long escalator on the right, and then walk in the direction of the platform 8 signs until you see it.

This was my first meal in Tokyo. The place was difficult to find as I had somehow managed to enter the station from a different entrance than originally planned. Luckily I found Park Gate and made it just in time for last order at 9.30pm. The special edition tonkotsu ramen was very tasty, especially the soup base and I loved the paste inside the sakura (I didn't blend it into the soup as recommended). I only added a little of the spicy crisp. It was 160 yen to enter the ticket gates as I just walked here from my hotel to eat.

There’s not much seating and we had over a half hour wait to sit as a whole family had taken up the entire restaurant 😅 However, it was well worth the wait. The food took less than 5 minutes to be served and was delicious. Really good for a quick bite to eat if there’s seating available. Be aware it could be a long wait as it fits less than 20 people and is busy around lunch and dinner. Super affordable too.

Yes, it's located inside of Ueno station and you will need some type of ticket to get in. Whatever. Fit it into your trip somehow. (Not that it matters, Ueno has a ton of cool stuff to do.) The meal is cooked fast and it's delicious. The price is also pretty good.

Read moreI had the golden sesame dish and also tried the black sesame dish too. Both were delicious. The black sesame has a little spiciness. The noodles are yummy.
I also ordered the char siu and my travel buddy ordered the gyozas with rice. I highly recommend the gyozas, some of the best I’ve ever tried, however the char Siu was disappointing as there was only one piece of soy meat with no sauce. Perhaps it stated that on the menu and I just didn’t see it. It tasted good anyway but I wouldn’t buy it again.
Also I couldn’t see a drinks menu at all or a dessert menu. Soy yoghurt was being served as part of a meal deal with one particular seasonal dish. There was only gyozas, char siu, rice and some vegan cheese as sides.
It’s a shame you have to buy a ticket to eat here. I specifically came to try out this restaurant but it would be nice for it to be available outside a station too😄

Wir wussten nicht, dass man das Restaurant nur findet, wenn man sich einen Bahnticket kauft, auch wenn man nicht fahren will. Somit zahlt man 150 Yen pro Person extra nur dafür. Das Essen war schön angerichtet aber wir hatten in anderen Restaurants, wo es nur 1 Ramen für veganer gab, viel authentischeres und leckeres Essen. Waren etwas enttäuscht.

Excellent vegan ramen, loved by my non-vegan friends as well, in a convenient location in Ueno Station. The noodles came in a generous portion, with varied and fresh toppings and a decadent creamy broth. The gyoza were crispy and flavorful as well. Prices were reasonable (1200-1300 yen per bowl of ramen), the ambience was warm and welcoming, and service was fast. Note that the last order is at 9:30 pm. They accept credit cards.

This was our first meal on arrival in Japan and it was so good! We only waited about 10 minutes before being seated. I had the special Sakura ramen with pink noodles, my partner had the black sesame, and we split some gyoza - all 10/10. It’s near the Park Gate - if you come through that entrance and walk straight ahead, it’s just past the NewDays.
