AMAZING vegan ice cream! - Edit
They have a decently long list of vegan options which are on a separate section of the menu board, making it super easy to find what you're looking for. I got the "Planet Earth" special limited edition flavor for spring and OMG. Amaretto, matcha, and blue spirulina... "These are a few of my favoirite things"... pretty much. They told me the sugar cone is vegan but the waffle cones/bowls aren't, oh well. Thankfully this place is super close to my hotel because I will definitely be going back!!!

During my last visit to New York last month, I stopped by this location of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. I tried one of the shop's summer specials: a vegan version of the otherwise milk-based Earl Grey ice cream that they usually have on offer.

There is no seating here: this shop is for getting your ice cream and enjoying it at a nearby park or public space.
One scoop of ice cream is in the 4-7 USD range: it is on the higher side, but so worth it for the quality and flavor.

Had the pistachio and chocolate chip, seemed there were always a bunch of vegan options. Came across it by accident, glad we did. Not cheap but really good, a very creamy vegan ice cream, not sure what the base was, but wasn't over coconutty, instead the flavours came through.

I tried both the mint chip and PB choc chip vegan ice creams, both delicious. They had a few other vegan flavors, all were (vegan) cream-based (not water-based like sorbet). One scoop set me back about $6 so not cheap but very good. The regular cones are also vegan, but not the waffle cones.

I've been staying in NYC for the past three weeks, and I've returned to this ice cream shop at least five times. It's a regular ice cream shop, with vegan ice cream flavors and non vegan flavors. There are about 8 vegan flavors I think, and they range from classics, like chocolate and vanilla, to my personal favorite, cookie crumble strawberry jam. Very friendly staff and amazing ice cream!
