2,7 Stars. Ok Food but i would not go again - Edit
The Staff was not very friendly , the food was okay but nothing special and the Price was too high from what i am used to. But it is nice that they are a complete Vegetarian Restaurant, which is very Rare in Japan.

Cheap, authentic Indian food! - Edit
We were a bit worried going in, as it looked a little messy, but we left very pleased! This place serves vegetarian South Indian food done well with a reasonable price. I had the vegetable uttapam as I'd never tried it before, but they also served a good selection of curries. While the atmosphere admittedly isn't the best, it still has its charm.
Read moreNote that even if it looks full - there's only three tables in the downstairs restaurant - they also have a hidden away event space upstairs, where we were seated. So they have room for more people than it would seem from the outside!
Pros: Good food, Price
Cons: Atmosphere

Didn’t like the curry, but samosas were excellent - Edit
We ordered the lentil curry and the taste was bland and extremely spicy. I couldn’t eat it and afterwards my stomach hurt. I wish the employee would have asked how spicy I wanted it. Customer service was not great, we had to ask twice what was vegan because the employee just keep waving his hands around the menu and didn’t give us a straight answer. However, the samosas were one of the best ones I’ve ever had. If you enjoy really really spicy curry then this might be a nice place. The vegan options are labeled which is very nice.

Lot of choices with fair prices. The Lassi is to thin Like usually in Japan, but the food is really good.

Nice flavourful food - Edit
Red dots mean that the dish has dairy, if it doesn't it means it CAN be made vegan (specify when ordering). Ask for "mild" if you can handle some spice. "Medium" will be more like "hot".

Not worth the wait - Edit
Tiny shop, not suitable for larger parties as far as I could tell. I came in and ordered tea, chana chaat, and tofu mutter. Chaat came out less than five min after I ordered, and I didn’t get checked on until about 45 minutes later, only to be told food would be coming soon. I asked if I could have my tea, but that didn’t come until after the meal- delivered about 55 min after ordering. Group of businessmen near me had a couple courses in the time it took for my food to be delivered. Once it arrived it was delicious, but I wouldn’t go again just because of how long it took to come out of the kitchen. Once I was finished, I waited at the counter for several minutes before someone came to take payment (I locked eyes with two employees during this time lol). Good food, but not a great night for them in the service dept.

Be careful what you wish for - Edit
After some particularly healthy meals, I wished for cheap Indian food. Being in the Akihabara area, this lead me to "VegKitchen". It is a tiny little restaurant with only 3 tables. The place is an absolute chaos with boxes stacked outside, crummy old furniture and shady people walking in and out without a clear purpose. While the guests spoke English and Hindi, the waiter always seemed to respond in a different language.
Read moreTo give VegKitchen a chance I ordered their speciality dish: the VegKitchen special menu, vegan version. It comes with a simple salad, a simple drink (mango lashi replaced by orange juice for the vegan option), two curries, naan, rice and something sweet. The staff did not ask how spicy I wanted my food and it turns out the default choice at VegKitchen is "dragon breath". While I can certainly handle some spicy food, both curries were far too spicy to enjoy. And since the usual yoghurt was removed from my vegan menu, there was little to extinguish the fire with.
Except for the spiciness, there's nothing remarkable or different about the food at VegKitchen. Even worse: the quality of the ingredients seems to be very low. It left me with a mild discomfort in the stomach. That's what you get for wishing for "cheap Indian food".
Pros: cheap
Cons: low quality ingredients, chaotic, not special in any way

Can't get much more authentic than this in Japan - Edit
I walk in just maybe 5 mins after opening time (5 pm) and I get blasted with bollywood music and the chef/waiters sitting around a table watching hindi TV shows from their phone on speaker while chatting away and drinking chai. This is when you know you're going to get a true Indian experience. They offered me chai for free while I waited for them to finish theirs. Food was pretty good, nothing excellent to write home about; but you can eat a full meal for 1500 yen. Anyways, great place, but can be a little overwhelming for those that aren't used to this kind of an experience.

A lot of vegan options - Edit
A lot of vegan options that are clearly marked. The waiter seemed to know what vegan is. A bit expensive but I feel like most India places are. I asked for dishes that are not spicy and still 2 out of 3 dishes I ordered were spicy haha.

Amazing - Edit
The staff was very nice and knows well the difference between vegan and vegetarian. There were only 3 tables, but there is take-away if full. They seem to have a lot of regulars- and the guests were just as nice when I was waiting for my food. Endless options of vegan food, marked with a green sticker on the menu. It was my first time trying a Samosa, and maybe it was slightly too dry for my taste- still ok. Papadurum and tea as appetizer.

One of the better food experiences I had in Tokyo - Edit
Cheap food for lunch if you're on a budget. Probably one of the best masala dosas I've ever had (and I've had my fair share of them). Restaurant owner and staff were a delight to talk to. Short walking distance to Akihabara. Went back the same day for dinner which was equally good. Would recommend for any tourist visiting the area!

The shop is nice, reasonably clean.
We went there on a cold rainy day in Janauary and it was pretty cold inside, next to the door. I‘d rather go again on a warmer day when it is more cozy to hang out.
One star less for not offering a vegan naan. While they make vegan versions of many dishes, it should be possible to make a naan wit soy milk or something :-)
Pros: Great selection of dishes, Many vegan options
Cons: Small shop, Cold in winter

Great menu, completely vegetarian and all vegan friendly options are marked with a green sticker (there's loads of them). Always loved south Indian food and this place was exceptional. Wow! - Edit
We were on a vacation to Japan, visiting both Tokyo and Kyoto. It’s been difficult finding vegetarian restaurants. This place happened to be a few blocks from our hotel. We had malai kofta, saag paneer, biriyani and garlic naan. Everything was absolutely delicious! This was the best Indian food I’ve had and i eat Indian food often. Sorry, forgot to take photos of the dishes. I was hungry and it smelled and looked too good to wait. Service was quick (only three tables) and friendly. The waiter spoke English as well, which helped. I highly recommend d this place, even if you’re staying in another part of town.
