Great vegan options

A good range of options from a vegan menu. The garlic pizza was great. For our mains the pizza was simple but good. I didn’t like the gnocchi that much as the caramelised onion was too overpowering for me.

Pros: Good pizza dough, Great service , Nice location

More than just a token vegan option

It was great that they had a whole vegan menu. The pizza was perfect and delicious. The gnocchi was also good, small/medium portions sizes for the pasta, but my husband and I shared a pizza and pasta and it was the perfect amount.

Pros: Full vegan menu with multiple options, Very tasty and authentic Italian food, Ambience and location is stunning

Cons: Portion size of pasta could be larger, More vegan cheese on the vegan pizzas

Vitalia’s is top notch

They have a separate vegan menu. I did copious research before coming to Australia to settle on where we want to eat while here. Vitalia’s came up repeatedly. My husband and I ordered the same thing: mushroom gnocchi and focaccia. I literally have never had such amazing Italian food in my life. The gnocchi was out of this world. The focaccia was more like an olive oil garlic pizza. The pasta is made fresh, too. I want to go back before we leave town and try the spaghetti.

Disappointing

The artichoke pizza was pretty rubbish, they skimped on the vegan cheese. and the gnocchi was tiny portion and not great.

Not the greatest

We came for dinner, I am GF & other intolerances, I ordered the ragu with gf gnocchi, but I received a different pasta, i confirmed it was GF. It was a different sauce than you would usually receive for a ragu. Very light and bit lacking in flavour.
My husbands Pizza was very good, his tiramisu was dissapointing.
They have a separate vegan menu which looked promising, thinking a complete vegan choice would have been better. They are all italian working there which gives authentic feel but hard when ordering with changes.

Cons: Hard to order & be sure it was heard correctly

Good vegan menu but book ahead!

I've eaten here a few times and it always is delicious - pizza, pasta and entrees! Ask for the vegan menu and as it's always busy, you can easily book on their website.

What a hidden gem!

Has a full vegan menu! The most traditional Italian place I’ve ever seen, Italian radio, staff speaks Italian. Nice view over the boats. Good portions. Very yummy pizza calzone. They did a kids size gnocchi for me. The homemade burger is very different than what I’m used to.
The apple beignets are very nice. The chocolate mousse is a chocolate pudding, but very tasty nonetheless.

This was a delightful surprise! They didn’t have the vegan menu out the front. But they have an entire menu for vegans!!!

Pros: Service, Location, Menu!

Maybe I wanted pizza and it wasn’t pizza night…..

Chose the Fregola Primavera which was dominated by the flavour of the vegan cream, it just made me long for classic Italian dishes that are essentially vegan. It also seemed odd to over pizzas on the main menu but vegan pizzas only available Saturday and Sunday.

Pros: Vegan options , Nice location , Indoor/outdoor dining

Cons: Vegan pizzas only available Sat/Sun

OMG!

Awesome food.
Dedicated vegan menu with entrees, mains (pasta and pizzas) and desserts - yes, plural.
Close the garlic focaccia for starter and then the gnocchi for main - delicious!!
This is definitely the place if you want a great vegan Italian fix.
Great location looking over the marina.

Pros: Delicious food, Dedicated menu with plenty of options, Friendly & helpful staff

Great vegan pizza, Napoli style

Saw mixed reviews about the pizza, about it being ‘soggy’. However we thought the pizza was great, proper Napoli style with big soft crusts, a flat crisp base, and the vegan cheese was pretty good too. Nice that they have a separate vegan menu with many options and the staff were really friendly. Would recommend.

Not too impressive

The bread was pretty salty. It was good enough for me to eat the whole panuozzo, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Excellent pizza, good prices, nice ambiance

I was hesitant to come here but was pleasantly surprised. They have a whole separate vegan menu with a few pasta options and pizzas. We tried two pizzas and both were really good. It’s nice to be able to go out to a meal at a nice place on the water and have plenty of GOOD options! Prices were really good and we went home with leftovers.

Definitely recommend if you’re staying in Cairns for a nice dinner!

Don't get the Vegan Calzone :(

If you were desparate for a Vegan feed, then sure come here. Otherwise, don't. Overpriced. The ingredients in the in the Calzone were undercooked and Vegan cheese didn't melt.
Undercooked potato is a no go for me!

Pros: Has its own Vegan menu available

Cons: They put paper on the table, so weird, Do not get the Calzone 🤢

Separate vegan menu

These guys do great food and have a dedicated vegan menu with plenty of options. I've gone the beetroot gnocchi in the past (delicious) but went for the calzone today which was very good. It's not the cheapest place you'll find, but it's good food at a good location, and with plenty of options.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Great location

Cons: A touch pricy

Yum!

They have a separate vegan menu. Delicious food and beautiful view, what more could you ask for? We also had the garlic focaccia for entree but was too hungry to take a photo. We had the Umbria pizza and gnocchi al pomodoro for mains. Both were absolutely delicious. Generous topping of mushrooms and just the right amount of truffle paste on the pizza for a well balanced flavour. Highly recommend!

Pros: Separate vegan menu , Reasonably priced

Basic

I was very excited to get some authentic Italian but honestly was quite disappointed with our meals. The Cinque Terre vegan pizza was very tasty, but had a fairly basic set of toppings. The Calzone vegan was quite bad though to be honest. The filling of boiled veg (very bland undercooked potato and carrot) and in really small quantities, I was really disappointed with my meal, the bread part was delicious and that's about it. The price was insanely high at $26 for 80% bread 20% boiled veg. Sadly won't be back here.

Pros: Separate vegan menu

Cons: Over priced , Not very tasty

Looked like a winner, however...

We had seen the good reviews, discovered they had a vegan menu, and even tried to turn up as walk-in's after a day out on the reef but couldn't get in. That's all usually a good sign...

We made a booking, turned up and had dinner. With the wee bottle of oil and balsamic on the table we'd hoped it might be quite European where they bring a little complimentary basket of bread too the table while you consider the menu. They do not.

The entree (mushrooms and spuds) was ok, but way too hot and quite under seasoned. We'd asked for the main (the sardegna pizza) to be called away once the entree was cleared, so we didn't end up with a cold, soggy pizza. Two thirds through the entree the pizza is brought over. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the waiter I'd originally spoken with who apologised and wandered off. The pizza was warm, bland and soggy. We struggled through, taking the tomato slices off to remove the core ourselves and slicing the hard artichoke hearts thinner to make them edible.

Throughout our brief time there we had four different wait staff at our table. Not a very organised place, and it may be that the pizza oven just wasn't at the right temperature yet, or maybe a new guy on the station, but it's one of the worst 'proper' pizzas I've had in a long long time.

Really disappointed, won't be back.

Pros: A good vegan selection for each course, Reasonably priced for a waterfront restaurant

Cons: Disjointed service, not dedicated wait staff, Food requires better preparation/finishing, Poor comms between wait staff and kitchen

Great options for vegans

We really appreciated that this restaurant had a separate vegan menu -- it's rare to see that at an Italian restaurant. The food tasted really good -- we ordered a puttanesca pizza and stuffed olives. The olives were a small portion for the price, but something we're glad we tried. Food came out really quick too.

Tasty Italian

Basic. But yum. Small portions. Entree was so yummy - we had the bruschetta. So convenient having a vegan menu. Always appreciate this.

Vegan menu - warm food

I’m one of those people that loves hot pizza. They were serving a table of 6 people so maybe that was why food was not hot. My entrée was similar. This was an ok experience, nice location, good company and they had chilli oil.

Pros: A vegan menu, Efficient service, Vegan cheese

Cons: Only one vegan desert

Best vegan pizza ever

I’ve been to Vitalia’s twice! Before and after joining the vegan community! My expectations this time were lower as I thought it couldn’t be as good as before BUT I was wrong! The Mushroom Pizza called Umbria was a “cheese” based one and, I just say, I never had such an amazing vegan cheese before! The calzone fritto (Fried Calzone) with the eggplant was also very balanced and full of flavors! I’ll definitely be back and recommend it to everyone

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Best vegan cheese on pizza, Lots of options available

Cons: Only sorbets as vegan dessert option
