Try the cheese! - Edit
The cultured cashew cheese was new to the menu - it was devine! We followed it up with the bean stew and the broccolini dish and both were just as fabulous. Highly recommended.

Vegan eten op terras bij entrepot dok - Edit
Restaurant Bloem is een fijne plek voor veganist. Het terras buiten is echt een heerlijke plek om rustig te genieten van de sfeer, zeker op een mooie dag. De bediening was erg vriendelijk en gastvrij.

Een volledig veganistisch restaurant dat niet alleen lekker kookt, maar ook een warme en ontspannen ervaring biedt. Een aanrader als je in Amsterdam bent!

Lovely relaxed lunch, spacious terrace next canal - Edit
We had a lovely lunch on the terrace. Very relaxed. Comfy chairs.

Nice food and drinks. I was expecting the tofu egg to be more like scrambled tofu, but it was tiny cubes of tofu, so a bit of a bummer, but nice anyway.
Cakes were lovely.
Very friendly service.
Interior not accessible - step. Didnt see an accessible toilet. Toilet clean. Love that they also provide tampons etc.
It would have been a very different experience on a rainy day, as inside is very small, and looks a bit shabby. There's also an upstairs area.

This is a lovely cosy place, and I was ready to be delighted. The food was very elegantly presented. But both courses were disappointing. The pie especially had very dry pastry, not a good eat. I was intending to stay for dessert but based on what we had eaten we decided not to stay. I hope they can improve on the good dishes and rethink the bad ones.

A very nice, small and cozy place with a real living-room atmosphere. The menu is simple, with tasty dishes to choose from. The staff was also very friendly. Definitely a lovely spot for a relaxed meal.

The menu is impressively long but we forced ourselves to choose and were very happy with our choices; blinis with spicy chutneys, kimchi and salad, Indian pancakes, and cauliflower roti. Good portions, and overflowing with flavours and spice.

Update:
We've indeed been back and everything was good again. The soft tacos and enchiladas weren't quite as tasty as the other dishes (beetroot tartare and roasted King oyster mushrooms).
Another update: Still great! Especially the roti and the spicy soup. The jackfruit vindaloo was tasty but not quite as good as the others.
Latest update: Our latest dinner here was absolutely fantastic.

I wish I could transport Bloem back to England! Dinner here was one of the best meals I've ever eaten and clearly a lot of care and love goes into the cooking. Each dish had real depth of flavour and such intriguing combinations of ingredients, such as braised leek with chocolate crumble topping. It was divine - and so clever!

Another great find from Happy Cow - a bit out of the city centre but easily reached by #14 tram and a short walk through a nice residential neighbourhood. We had a delicious dinner - the aubergine dish and the pumpkin special - vegetables at their best and not aiming to be a veg version of a meat dish. I thought the orange and lavender crème brûlée sounded too good not to try, it was fabulous! It’s a small restaurant, so we were glad we’d booked, with very friendly service and pleasant surroundings.

Fully vegan, gluten-free, and organic eatery. Tasty and nutritious quality dishes, with whole-food ingredients. The Roasted King Oyster Mushrooms was great and came with a cabbage roll filled with lentils and cashew nuts, atop a bed of fennel and parsnip mash. The Vegetable Pie was filled with mushrooms in a creamy tarragon sauce, alongside a pool of stir-fried long beans and cabbage in umami tamari gravy. There were also 3-course meals available. On the pricier side but would definitely recommend this eatery especially for the health-conscious and those with specific dietary needs! Located near the National Holocaust Museum.

I really don’t resonate with some of the reviews here. To us the food was quite memorable and we’re coming back to try the rest of the dishes.

We had been here a few years back and went for another visit. The previous time, I got a severe flue right after and didn't really remember (to write down) the experience.
Read moreWe went on a friday evening, we had made a reservation but the restaurant was not totally full. Staff was friendly and accomodating. We sat upstairs and had that corner to ourselves.
The food was okay, but didn't wow us. We had the roasted pumpkin and blinis as appetizers. For the main course we had the punterelle and Jackfruit Vindaloo. As a dessert we had the sticky pear cake and frozen berry pie. I would only go back for the punterelle dish, which had a nice flavour pallet. Some of the other dishes could have used some fresh garnish, lacked flavour and even one dish lacked freshness as the puree had clearly been put on the plate way before and already cooled off and dried out.
So all in all, nice to have so many gluten free vegan options here but I would not go out my way to come back here.
It was nice to see and nice to see an inclusive bathroom with period products available.

Walked up to the restaurant and found out that it was full. But they were gracious enough to put out a table outside on a beautiful sunny day by the canal. Ordered the Oyster mushroom dish and it was delicious!

Shame they stopped serving lunch, but glad that the dinner option is still there. Last night I had Blinis as a starter (see photo), Roti inspired main dish and crème brûlée for dessert. Especially the starter and dessert were really tasty. The main dish was ok.
