GO HERE

This restaurant is exactly what you pray it is - amazing French vegan food. Honestly, it was so hard to pick what to get. The waiter suggested Escargot and Coq Au Vin. Of course, he said he could only one favorite. It has been so long since I had proper French food. I could have cried. Come here!! 🥹❤️

Really epic place

This place was so cool. I had a really awesome experience overall, and am excited to come back and try more things. One of the dishes i got, the mr. Rableis galette, was not my favorite but not for lack of being tasty. The french onion soup blew me away.

Incredible French food!

My partner and I went here for our anniversary last month— he speaks French, we both love French movies but French food can be so meat and dairy heavy. Now we know it doesn’t have to be this way!!

We had the escargot, yummy mushrooms and bread! A real treat. Also the “crab cake” and Brussels sprouts, and a savory crepe with faux bacon, cheese and tomatoes! All so great.

The real stars are their desserts though— the orange creme brûlée!! Totally incredible and an amazing piece of the opera cake, if you’re looking for a chocolate fix!

Everything was so well done and our server was so nice! Loved it, we’ll be back to try more desserts and crepes for sure!

C’est Magnifique ✨

A truly magical find in New York City. As vegans, we found it surprisingly difficult to discover restaurants that really stood out, but Delice & Sarrasin was an absolute gem. We loved it so much that we ended up visiting twice during our stay. Every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was cosy and authentically French, and the team were so welcoming and attentive that they made every visit feel special. A restaurant we’ll be recommending to anyone visiting NYC.

Fancy French vegan restaurant

Went here with my partner on a recent trip to NY. I've had my eye on this place for a few years now because I wanted to try French food (it's not usually vegan so I haven't had it before, so took advantage of being somewhere that actually had a vegan French restaurant).

Food - my food was very tasty, not all of their food was to my taste though.

For appetizer, we had the brie roti végétal. My partner says it tasted pretty accurate but wasn't quite as soft as nonvegan brie. I thought it was good myself, but I don't think I ever had brie before going vegan. The accompanying bread and potatoes were bread and potatoes - it's hard to screw those up.

For main course, I had the boeuf bourguignon, and my partner had the tournedos Rossini. Mine was very tasty. I'm not sure what they used for the fake-beef, but it worked very well and practically melted in the delicious sauce, and the potatoes and carrots were good as well.

The tournedos Rossini weren't quite as good in my opinion, though my partner liked it. I definitely was not a fan of the foie gras végétal on top (if it's as accurate to the "real thing" as the brie was - people torture ducks for *that*?), and I once again do not see the appeal for black truffle. The sauce, fake meat, and bread were all pretty tasty and worked well together.

The restaurant was very helpful with my partner's allergies and preferences, helping her to find good options and customize. In addition to the allergy part, she also was able to swap out the asparagus for the creamed spinach from another dish (they were out of the main portion of it). The creamy spinach tasted like creamy spinach - it was what it said on the tin.

For dessert, we got the strawberry and chocolate crêpe (la francinette). It was very tasty, if a bit surprising that they used buckwheat flour (though that wasn't a problem). My partner also got some tea.

The main issue I found was the cost - this was definitely a bit of a splurge. Part of that is getting an appetizer and dessert, but it is also more expensive than I'm used to generally. Better than its competitor in that regard though! But I still ended up spending ~$126 on the meal. (and $5.50 for the tea bag.)

Overall this was a great restaurant and experience, and I'd be curious to go back to try more things next time I'm in New York... Or, y'know, when my bank account recovers.

I'd also be interested in trying the bakery items - didn't realize there was a bakery until we were leaving!

Pros: Delicious food, Willing to check ingredients and make adjustments, Good atmosphere

Cons: Kind of pricey, It's in NY, Some foods are just a matter of taste I guess

Amazing!

I never thought I would eat French food again. This place has amazing food, so French, so delicious. The decor is romantic and friendly. What a find! Thank you Happy Cow, or should a say Vache Heureuse?

Unique and delicious

We had a really nice, sophisticated dinner with coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon and steak frites. All three were delicious, and my favorite was the coq au vin. The proteins were all house-made and unlike anything I have had before. The sauces were tasty and each was distinctive. The portion sizes are modest but adequate. We got two crepes for dessert, which were good but not mind-blowing. The pastry case is full of gorgeous pastries. The food is well-priced for the amount of work that goes into each dish.

Stopped by recently and was surprised by how cute and cozy it is. You walk in to their bakery and are led back to their dining section. Server is attentive and atmosphere is calm. Outdoor dining is available too. Would go back!!

Favourite meal in NYC 💚

We’d been told by locals that Le Basque was better but I absolutely loved Delice & Sarrasin, it felt like stepping into a proper French restaurant and loved being able to eat some of my old French favourites, especially onion soup! A lovely meal ✨

Unique option in the city!

What a treat to have a fully vegan French meal without the jet lag! The escargot, coq au vin, and crème brûlée were fantastic! I wasn’t a huge fan of the tartare, but ordered it more out of novelty than expecting to actually like it.

One note - this was one of very few places that doesn’t seem to require a reservation. The restaurant was busy but there was no wait for a two-top at 7pm on a Saturday. It was a refreshing change not to be beholden to a reservation!

Fun French Food

Ate here for a nice night out and was excited to try out the vegan French food, which can be hard to find.

The interior looked really nice and the coq au vin and steak were both delicious!

I did find that the tables were extremely close together, so people had to shimmy in and out to reach their seats, which was a bit awkward. The fries in the steak frites were also a bit disappointing.

Will definitely be back and hope to have a bit more elbow room next time.

Not great

All the food was okay, not great. I’ve had much better vegan French onion soup and vegan crepes. It was fun to get the opportunity to try food I normally wouldn’t get, but nothing tasted that great to me.

Great surprise

I’d honestly booked a reservation here in a rush thinking I had booked for a seat at the bakery only. Very happy accident, and I embraced the surprise full meal. It was exciting to try French classics, and I can’t wait to try more.

My son and I went here for a special meal (mostly because I was craving vegan cheese) and we had a wonderful experience. Everything we ate was delicious and felt like an event. I enjoyed the ambiance as well. We will definitely be back for another special occasion.

Authentic French Bistro food

Excellent and authentic French Pastries. I cannot recommend the pastry counter enough. The Croissants are delicious and flaky; all of the patisserie has been mind-blowing. The food is interesting but I don't think I'd go back for another full meal. Their take on Steak Tartare was a little TOO convincing.

Pros: Excellent Patisserie, Flaky and buttery Croissants, Friendly service

Cons: Expensive, especially for the Bistro., Imitates meat too well., Small portions for the main dishes.

Fabulous and Unique (hopefully not for long)!

I went here recently for a birthday. The food is traditional French, which imo totally breaks out of the stereotype that French food cannot be vegan. The cheeses and “escargot” mushrooms with bread were to die for, and our favorite mains were the coq au vain and boeuf bourguignon. It’s a very special place, and I hope to see some inspiration brought over to the west coast soon, since we don’t have anything like this here in the Bay Area. Family owned, and very cozy. It’s worth the special occasion! Not to mention the buttery, flaky croissants at the bakery in the front.

Best vegan cheese & scary realistic vegan steak

GO HERE. My non-vegan friends loved it & commented that the steak was “super meaty.” The vegan cheese croissant had a variety of different cheeses in it & I was like: “Woah. This is real cheese. This is what will make the world vegan.”

Good but should be better for the price

I found all their food to be good but nothing really wowed me. Whilst my entree, the Tournedos Rossini, was definitely the best thing on the menu that I had, I found the other things I tried to be just "good" and not "great".

4.5 Stars

I saw very mixed reviews so we were unsure what to expect. We came for a light lunch and ordered the escargots, French onion soup, Mr. Seguin, and La Francinette. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The one thing the 3 of us agreed that we didn’t love was the flavor of the savory crepe itself. I think it was just a personal preference. Everything else was really good. We also ordered an eclair croissant and madeleine from the bakery. The eclair was excellent and the Madeline was nice with a slight lemon flavor. Looking forward to returning and trying some other things!

An amazing place

Trust a Frenchman, this place is a gem in that it manages to give natural-born unvegan traditional French dishes a vegan twist while keeping the dishes names, and the result is quite amazing. Personally love the Poulet Basquais. They also serve crepes.

Pros: Food, Service , Atmosphere

Cons: A bit pricey , Chocolate desserts (the strong orange flavor)
