Crazy good schnitzel - Edit
Went on Monday schnitzel night. Cordon Bleu schnitzel and mushroom schnitzel, mushroom bruschetta starter and tiramisu with fruit for dessert. Highly recommend! As noted in other reviews, tiramisu has no coffee flavor but is still an excellent dessert.

Vegan meaty place - Edit
We had dinner at Forsters. They have a seasonal menu that changes so this menu might not be the one you will have. For a starter we had the cheese wedges. It was good! For the main I had the roast beef and it came with roasted potatoes and vegetables. My wife had one of the schnitzels, they mostly have a variety of schnitzels for their mains. For desert we had the Tiramisu. It was very fluffy and tasted really good, but it did not taste anything like a tiramisu. It did not have any coffee flavor, and it had strawberry drizzle on it. Again, good, but this is not tiramisu and I do not know why they call it a tiramisu. If you expect a tiramisu you will be disappointed. Our server was patient and answered all our questions throughly.

Lovely food, but the service could improve - Edit
Beautiful Austrian food! I took a chance with the special of the week, even though our waiter couldn’t tell us what it was. It ended up being a ravioli in vegan cream sauce garnished with fresh basil and tomato. It was lovely!

Brilliant Vegan German dishes - Edit
If you want to try vegan schnitzel, I recommend going here!
Read moreIt's accessible by public transport, the interior is cozy, and the menu is clear.
The menu isn't massive, but from what I've tried, I'm sure everything on it would be good. On Mondays they offer a larger selection of schnitzel, and on Thursdays you can get donner kebabs.
Everything is vegan by default, so I was also able to enjoy a milkshake with no qualms. The toffee and peanut milkshake tastes like Reese's! The service is quick and the staff is friendly.
And in case you've got someone who is desperate to have a meat dish, some dishes can be made with meat for an (large, €5) additional charge.
Pros: Authentic German dishes made vegan, Cosy, forest styled interior

Traditional German dishes - Edit
Loved that they had a seasonal chanterelle menu, but I did not see a creamy chanterelle soup as an option. (Maybe the creamy chanterelles with dumplings was their version of it.) I started with the beautiful soup of the day: a cold cucumber soup that was at least 50% dill and garnished with well-marinated king oyster mushrooms. The nonalcoholic Riesling was a bit sweeter than I expected but still hit the spot. The grilled chicken breast (possibly seitan-based) with sautéed chanterelles and truffled mashed potatoes was delightful. But the strawberry tiramisu, although nicely presented and came with four very different fresh fruits, was not a tiramisu in the traditional sense. It’s more accurately a cream cake with strawberry sauce on top. My fault for ordering a tiramisu at a German restaurant. The staff were kind and accommodated my request for tap water and refilling it: maybe they knew I was thirsty after a hot day of museum-going. I’d love to come back for their schnitzel (regular menu) and döner (Thursday special). FYI, the Tuesday special was a club sandwich with fries.

Must try for vegan tourists - Edit
As Australian tourists we knew we needed to try schnitzel in Germany so were really happy to find it on Happy Cow. We went on a Monday night which was schnitzel night, heaps too choose from, was actually a really difficult choice.
Read moreWe got the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the schnitzel with a "fried egg". The fried egg wasn't really like an egg, I think the "yolk" was made of pumpkin, but either way it was really yummy. Good size portions and felt authentic

Paradise! - Edit
I've been here with a vegan group, so we had a fixed menu, composed by a cauliflower soup, the schnitzel and "tiramisù". Everything was a surprise! But please don't call that cake Tiramisù, it didn't have nothing of a tiramisù (it had strawberries and not a drop of coffee, than there weren't savoiardi)! But it was excellent anyway

most authentic German food - Edit
Usually I am never fully happy when going to a German restaurant with traditional food, because mostly it doesn't taste like home. But here, I was completely overwhelmed! The cucumber salad, the fried potatoes, the meat, the sauce... everything exactly like I know it from my Mama and 100% vegan. It's a dream! I love that they offer some more special traditional dishes and not only Schnitzel and Currywurst. The staff is very friendly, we got a free appetizer and the main dishes were such big portions that we couldn't eat a dessert anymore (unfortunately). It's expensive but worth every cent, also because the food is very fresh and complicated to replicate in vegan. Also, it seems like the vegan meat is handmade. The only minus is, that the ambience and decor is not the most comfy one, its very simple and basic.

My food was perfect! I ordered from the seasonal mushroom menu - ‘chicken’ with truffle mash and little mushroom and sundries tomato with a peppercorn sauce. My boyfriend had the chicken schnitzel with potato salad and cucumber salad.

The schnitzels were interesting in terms or texture. The cucumber pickle was good though. We also got the special spaetzle which had the texture of overcooked pasta which was interesting.

It was okay - Edit
We wanted to try some German vegan fare so we came here and got a couple of their chanterelle dishes and the käse plate. I didn’t realize the cheese would be fried—it reminded me of fried mozzarella—which I don’t like. My partner got the Chantelle dish with linguini and seitan and thought it was not bad. He said the strawberry tiramisu was good. I had the grilled vegan chicken with mashed potatoes and chanterelles, which was also not bad. Overall the experience was decent but there are just so many other stellar options nearby.

Yay, German Hausmannskost! - Edit
I really enjoyed our dinner at Försters, the atmosphere is cozy and the food is good. I loved the chanterelle dish with dumplings and also the creme brulée as dessert. The Schnitzel is not my favorite and not the best one I've ever tried, the seitan taste is quite strong. The sides (potatoe and cucumber salad) were great though.
Read moreA great option for those cravings for (not so healthy) typical German food. I would like to see some dishes without "meat" or the option to order just the potatoe salad...

traditional German food (and seasonal dishes) - Edit
i chose a dish from the seasonal asparagus menu and I really enjoyed the white asparagus with potatoes and vegan chicken. the chicken was incredible! potatoes were a bit bland - i chose the hollandaise sauce with it and it didn’t have that much taste, but you could also go for butter or brown butter and looking back I would’ve probably liked that more 🌱 my partner had the roulade which we both weren’t fans of and the space was not incredible - but it felt like they cared a lot about the environment which is awesome.

Mixed from meh to amazing - Edit
Me and my girlfriend went here on heavy recommendations.
Read moreWe shared a seasonal asparagus soup as a starter that was very very warm but had a nice taste!
For main I had their Soy Roulade with potato gratin and broccolini. The broccolini was very nice and the potato gratin was one of the best I have ever had in my life. The soy roulade however was very boring. Tasted a lot of mustard and not very nice. But the potato weighed up for it!
My girlfriend had their seasonal white asparagus with hollandaise and the vegan chicken breast. The asparagus was nice, not incredible. But it also maybe wasn’t that smart to have asparagus for starter and main. But their vegan chicken breast is super rich in its flavour and incredible texture.
The staff was very nice but the venue however wasn’t super nice. Awkwardly placed tables around a big room and not that much decorations.
All in all, a nice dinner place, especially if you’re placed by a bit nicer tables. I can imagine that their schnitzel is better than what we had. Recommend!
