Beautiful Korean and Pan-Asian food and tea - Edit
Far and away one of the top 5 vegan restaurants in NYC. Food is delicious and beautifully presented. Try the Avocado Bibimbap or Stone Bowl Rice. The Mixed Greens with Avocado salad and Pumpkin Porridge (soup), and sorbet are all great. They also have vegan sushi. There is a whole separate gluten-free menu section. And a MASSIVE list of unique flavors of hot tea.
Read moreThe decor is stunning - real wood, painted tiles, and don't forget to look up and see the ceiling. It's a beautiful place for a birthday, anniversary, company dinner, or other special event. It's a little bit expensive but totally worth it.

Just delicious - Edit
Wow, Korean food that is vegan! Everything was so tasty and authentic. The dragon roll was delicious and then surpassed by the amazing soy duck wrap. The hot stone bowel kaboucha squash, & veggie bibimbap was excellent and the krispy eggplant in spicy sauce was wonderful. Even my mom vegan companion loved it. . Also the herb and regular teas were perfectly brewed in individual porcelain cup brewers. Can't wait to come back.

Franchia Vegan Cafe - Edit
I can’t believe I had not written a review for this restaurant sooner. I have been eating here for years and I am super addicted! Their Penang spicy noodle soup is to die for! So much so, I ate it multiple times during my recent trip to New York. They have other delicious things on the menu, but this soup is on another level, I highly recommend it!

Yummy Udong noodles! - Edit
The outdoor seating is quite charming and great for people watching. I was greeted before I even entered the restaurant, service was very friendly and prompt. I ordered a Chianti, which was fantastic, but they did skimp a bit on the amount they gave me. I opted for the Udong noodles and vegetable fritters. The noodles were great and a large portion too. The fritters were very bland and were mostly vegan cheese. I would recommend this restaurant and will probably go back.

Frankly, fine meal - Edit
The refined interior of this restaurant sets you up nicely for the excellent food.
Read moreThe peking buns and dumplings were full of rich flavours. The crispy Korean chilli tofu was well spiced and had great texture.
The portions were a little small for the price, but left very satisfied.

Great Korean vegan food - Edit
When Hangawi was closed for renovations, the security person outside told us to go to their sister restaurant Franchia and that's how we discovered this place. I absolutely loved the food as well as the decor. It is more casual and they have a great selection of teas which I really liked.

A poor customer service experience - Edit
A disappointing customer service experience last night. I'm a long-time customer of Franchia (from their opening) and their sister restaurant Hangawi, and have introduced a lot of people, both friends and work colleagues, to Franchia. I've always loved their food and atmosphere. In fact, Franchia was my last dining experience the day before New York City shut down for COVID. Last night, three of us had a reservation for 8 pm - one a vegan friend visiting from Australia to whom I had raved about Franchia. About 30 minutes prior to the reservation, the other friend dropped out due to an abundance of caution during these crazy COVID times - he suddenly was not feeling well. I immediately called Franchia to tell them it would only be two of us and we were running a few minutes late. The man on the phone seemed very rushed but said he moved our reservation to 8:15. We arrived at 8:05, checked in and asked for one of a number of empty tables outside (we are being careful). He said we had reserved an inside table (we hadn't and I had the email reservation to prove that). He told us to wait and I assumed he was going to be nice and seat us outside. Meantime a couple of tourists without reservations walked up, read the menu, commented on the tasty-looking chicken dishes. I was about to point out that Franchia is vegan and the chicken is actually fake chicken but at that moment the host whisked us away to an inside table (he was acting very rushed even though we were the only two parties awaiting tables in a half-empty restaurant). I asked again about the outside table and he said he had reservations for those and again that I had reserved an inside table. Within two minutes he sat the non-reserved non-vegetarian tourists at the outside table and I confronted him on his lack of good sense and customer service. First he said he had just received a sudden cancellation, then he ignored me so we left. I would not be surprised if the tourist couple also left upon discovering that the "meats" were plant based. Clearly this man needs some training.

Not bad - Edit
First night in NY so excited to try some vegans spots. Tired from long flight so didn’t want to go far so walked here. Sat outside in their covered sidewalk area. Ordered the fried kimchi dumpling not bad but the sauce was good lol. Then ordered the spicy noodles minus the peanuts a little salty but nevertheless very good. Oh the small picked cabbage that they bring out with it is ver good. The noodles plate is On the smaller portion size but I overeat anyway so it was for the best lol. Will try their sister restaurant later in week to see if any different.

Good option for vegan food - Edit
Good option for vegan food if you are in Manhattan. Service is fast and professional, but can come across a bit rude sometimes. Delicious soy and tofu based dishes, nice salads.

The vegan fritters are just deep fried vegetables, spicy tuna roll tasted like canned tuna and Mayo if you like that, kimchi pancakes were good. Overall too expensive for what it is.
