Authentic delicious Japanese - Edit
This place is very cute and if your not looking for it you could miss it. The staff are really lovely and has a cute, rustic traditional interior. They have a set menu which gives you a good sample of some amazing cuisine. They have a mini croquet that is Devine and all of the flavours are delicate but very well balanced. Would highly recommend

Fresh, thoughtful meal - Edit
Wonderful experience dining here - it felt like authentic Japanese food.
Read moreBesides the rotating set menu, they also offered a variety of drinks and traditional dessert. The brown sugar ginger soy milk was AMAZING (both hot and iced).
The interior decor was a little stuffy and grungy with books lining one of the walls, but the meal was so wonderful I didn't really care about the setting to much.

Simple and delicious - Edit
Each dish seemed so simple, but was seasoned and paired so beautifully. Everything was so nicely balanced and the perfect light meal. We also had the brown sugar ginger soy milk - it was out of this world! The lemon cardamom ohagi was delicious as well.

Not huge selection , but at least two vegan set dinners and other side dishes too.
Read moreReally top notch! Way above average tempura / tofu/ pickles/ the whole lot , and very reasonable price (set dinner for ¥1700) I would have paid double that ! This place is highly recommended
Pros: Really good food , Cheap food you could pay five times the price for, Quick easy / English menu no surprises
Cons: Not huge selection / not vegan or veg specialty , This is not a big con at all really!

Came here for the last lunch in Kyoto and it turned to be a great experience ♡ You walk through several little shrines / temples and this place is found in a tranquil residential area. The lunch set came with so many of little dishes and every one of them (even miso-soup) gave me great impressions !

Delectable Lunch Set for a great price - Edit
It is so wonderful to get a lunch set with 10 different flavors for 1,200yen (I think). I think only one of the dishes wasn't great (mainly due to my personal distaste for okra), which is so rare to encounter and lovely experience. Highly recommend this place, and think it is a great back alley spot to stop.

Best meal in Japan so far... - Edit
We loved our lunch here in this cozy cafe, which is lined with book shelves. We both agreed it was the best meal we’ve had in Japan so far. Our mixed platter was delicious and the sweet rice balls and coffee were great too. The staff were delightful. We would love to come back.

Small place with set menu - Edit
This small place is away from the main tourist areas of Kyoto which is great. It had a set menu of the day and you get small amounts of a few different things. Some of them were tasty and others more plain. The staff are friendly and it’s quite a hippyish vibe. Not for those who prefer finer dining.

Peaceful deliciousness - Edit
The lovely people running this new favorite place made us the most delicious, organic, fresh, filling lunch set ever. The sitting area is filled with books all around and the 60ties feel of the seating area is cute. I had the brown sugar ginger soy milk and it was delightful. Our lunch set came with rice and miso soup and gyoza. There were many small dishes on the plate: eggplant, salad, sweet potato, pumpkin, a veggie pattie etc. All so good!!!! For dessert we had Ohagi, sweet rice balls filled with bean paste and covered one with roasted green tea and the other roasted bean powder. Delicious. We loved the whole slow food experience.
