Fast and Healthy - Edit
Enjoyed my bowl, but was lucky enough to be the only customer at the time. I might hesitate to wait in line for it. Make sure to check that your food is vegan/vegetarian since they made mine with chicken first by mistake, but kindly and quickly remade it with tofu.

Order mix-up was disastrous - Edit
I really wanted to enjoy my experience here as vegan food in Canada is difficult to come by. However, the visit was a disaster. The young assistant didn't note that I was vegan even though I had said this when I ordered the vegan soup and a salad. I hadn't visited before and didn't realize until it was too late that what I had been given was chicken soup. I thought it was a meat substitute. I was distressed beyond words.
Read moreHe clearly hadn't had enough training and didn't seem to understand the gravity of the situation. I went back to the hotel room and made myself sick. It was a horrendous and traumatic experience. He had offered a refund from his manager after the weekend, but I couldn't face going back. It was a sad end to my stay in Canada.

I'm so sorry about what happened to you. Unfortunately, this sort of mix-up is all too common in Ottawa, which is quite behind the times in terms of veganism and is not, I believe, representative of Canada. I only feel safe here at vegan or vegan-friendly vegetarian restaurants. If you're here again, I hope you will visit the Astoria, Copper Branch, Pure Kitchen, or Green Door.

Read moreSadly the world is full of ignorance when it comes to animal abuse and cruelty. I had hoped that staff in 'vegan friendly' venues would be trained to understand the importance of respecting this ethical choice. I'm so tired of the normalizing of violence in all forms. We simply must do better as a species.
To end on a positive, I was mostly based in Bowmanville and regularly visited Copper Branch there, which was great. Thank you again.
