Old favourite

Old favourite spot in Glasgow and remains one of the best. Have also been to many a gig here and bought many a record. It has a great friendly atmosphere, is great for kids, and best of all the food is always amazing.

Pros: food, good music scene, good for kids

Cons: none

Mono Railroaded Me!

Looking for Rose and Grant's which was closed, I checked HappyCow to find there was a vegan cafe round the corner. Mono actually appears to be a vegan pub, with live music! I couldn't stay for that, but I ordered off piste, the Tostadas for the main course as a Special were delicious. I had problems parking as I hadn't allowed for the alternate venue. They were very patient with me which I also appreciated. I finished with the vegan (everything's vegan) chocolate, strawberry and vanilla banana split, topped with a cherry! I thought I'd seen the last of one of those! Great place, highly recommended 😜

Pros: Nice and airy on a hot Glaswegian day, with seatin

Cons: Tucked away, Kings Court isn't clearly marked. You

Great pizza terrible service

I have been twice and both times the service was slow and bordering on rude, I gave it a chance because the first time it was busy but the second time it was reasonably quiet so no excuse. It is such a shame because the pizza there is great but luckily there are plenty of other options in Glasgow, won't be back unless I get dragged there!

Pros: Great pizza

Cons: Staff who clearly couldn't care less, Slow service, Will give the wrong wine, think you won't notice

okay but that's it

Basic pub or fast food, nothing special, chips greasy and not crisp, battered artichokes greasy, burger and burrito okay but I had both way better in several other vegan or vegetarian restaurants.. nice space though

revision

Ignore the last review it was wrong!

I came here and the space is so nice, but I had a flight and their kitchen opened at 12 though the space opens at 11 - something to bear in mind

Glasgow Vegan Pizza Crunch Venue

Wow! Traditional Glasgow fayre: battered sausage, pizza crunch (it's a quater of a pizza deep fried in batter- and it is great!) good value. lots of tables indoors and outdoors. We went for lunch and the sun was shining, lovely light venue.

Pros: Traditional deep fried joy veganised

Cons: none

Great place

A good busy place with a great mix of people. We went on a Saturday night in May before the band played. We missed out on the burrito. Pizza was ok and tofu bun was a bit dull. Wine was good. Lovely sunny day people sat outside in the court yard. Easy to find with app.

Good pub food

Mono is good because it's vegan and offers a good pub food menu.

It's good, filling, hearty food but I found it all a bit greasy.

The service is really slow, so don't go if you're in a hurry.

Overall, not bad.

Pros: vegan, good beer

Cons: staff aren't vegan, slow service , grimey

Hail Seitan!

A must go if you are visiting Glasgow. We've been here a few times and on each occasion the food has been excellent. On our first visit we ordered the seitan burger and oreo cheesecake, which were absolutely delicious. Definitely one of the best burgers and cheesecakes we have ever eaten. Sadly the oreo cheesecake is no longer on the menu, which is a shame. Most recently we visited again and decided to order the to-fish 'n' chips and battered vegan sausage and chips (£8.50) with some homemade ginger beer. Both dishes were really tasty and full of flavour with good portion sizes given. The ginger beer was refreshing too. Can't wait to go back again.

Pros: Excellent vegan food, Nice vibe, Friendly staff

tasty and filling as f**k

I loved this place! Although we had to wait for a table at lunch time, which was not a problem for us.
We both ordered the Seitan burger which looked incredible and tasted so good. The meal itself was quite large as it came with chips and a small coleslaw. We were happy we didn't order starters other wise we wouldn't have finished our meals. We were tempted to get something to takeaway as well but felt too full for that.
Lovely staff with a nice range of foods to try.

Pros: music, food variety , best taste

Cons: waiting , not enough small tables (2 person), cold environment

Very nice

Never been greeted with such a big smile before anywhere, made me feel so comfortable.
I wasn't impressed with the pizza and dessert but soup was very nice. I will come back to try other plates in the menu.

Pizza crunch!

Generally, I love Mono. When I time it right for the specials board (which I always check before ordering) for something that isn't soup they can have some amazing stews/kebabs/burritos on offer. I love their chips, their pizza crunch (deep fried pizza in batter - it's a Scottish thing and amazing) and their Oreo cheesecake was fabulous - until they stopped making them. :(

The buffalo cauliflower pizza is a must, though the tempeh burrito was a bit underwhelming as I couldn't really taste the tempeh. Mac and cheese and garlic bread is delicious though last time I was in the macaroni was really boiling and burnt my mouth. Often they have cake/doughnuts/croissants/scones on the bar and I always check for those as well shortly after arriving.

Every week or two they'll close their kitchen early if they have an event on so I would highly recommend checking their facebook and/or twitter page that day, and their events list on the website if booking ahead. They can be very busy, especially on a weeknight or Saturday afternoon, so I would also advise booking at peak times. Dogs are allowed on the bottom level of the venue.

When large groups are in (I'd say about 12+) it can take a bit longer to get your food while they're cooking food for the large table. Service can be a bit hit and miss at the best of times, so if you go at busy times expect a bit of a wait. I tend to go up to the bar to pay as I can't be bothered waiting for the bill - here or anywhere - so if you're waiting more than 5 minutes for someone to come by don't sit there for 20 minutes then complain about it, especially if the staff are obviously rushed off their feet. Sometimes my order has been wrong, and it makes me nervous when I get a staff member who doesn't bring a notepad and writes things down.

They don't do takeaways.

Pros: Dog friendly, Varied menu , Interesting pizza toppings

Cons: Service variable

Decent cafe

Decent fast food style cafe. Friendly staff. Pizza was yummy, especially with a post-wedding hangover! Cafe was a bit grubby and cold. I wouldn't have sat on the sofas which looked like they'd been fished out of and skip!

Pros: Good vegan options for fast food, Pleasant staff

Cons: Bit grubby , Could do with a lick of paint and a clean!

lovely meal

Visited today with my partner who is neither vegan nor vegetarian and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Ordered a seitan burger and the "fish" and chips. Never having vegan fish before (battered tofu and seaweed) I was delightfully surprised by both flavor and texture while the seitan burger was cooked to perfection. Highlight for me was the fresh cut chips and the homemade tartare sauce which was absolutely beautiful! Will definitely visit again.

Not good, not even slightly good.

We ate at Mono today. The food was not good at all. We were thoroughly disappointed. The Greek fava dip was watery and acidic. The soup was worse than tasteless and the artichoke fritters seemed to contain artichokes that had come out of a jar and been battered! Baguette completely uninteresting. Truly dreadful food served by a very nice waiter. Awful food disaster! ?

Pros: Good helpful waiter

Cons: Terrible food disaster

good good, staff slow

I was very excited about trying this place. We ordered two rainbow salads as starters. Delicious dressing. I had the sharing platter as a main. Very filling, very good. My partner had the batter sausage and chips, and he thought it was delicious! It was when we were waiting for the check it got a bit aggravating. We wanted to order dessert, but no one came around to clear our plates or ask if we wanted dessert. Then, we thought we could maybe just take them to go, but no. After 40 minutes of waiting for someone to come give us menus, we just wen to the bar to pay. It's unfortunate, because we were planning on coming back tomorrow.

Pros: good food

Cons: slow service

Tasty Burger and fries

Went here today after a 7 minute walk from St George's Square. Had a seitan burger and vegan ham and pineapple pizza. Really liked the burger and fries (as I haven't had a burger in ages), though I would've prefered a sofer bun, and crispier fries. The pizza went down well with my mum, but thought it could've had less jalapeños and more vegan ham. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was quite cosy. Since it's my first time trying a vegan restaurant, it was quite good really.

Order the Pizza!

I've been to Mono a fair bit and it never fails. The pizzas are particularly delicious, as are the burgers, fries and cakes. The staff are pretty friendly, and dogs are allowed, as are takeaway orders, so I just can't stop coming back!

Pros: Pet friendly , Takeaway available , Good location, good for parking

Cons: Can get busy and not the biggest place

Great desserts

I came here with a bunch of non-vegans, and although I only had a hot chocolate (I was stuffed from a big lunch) my friends tried the range of mains and desserts and all loved them. Very laid-back space with a nice little second-hand record store out the back, I would definitely come again.

Lovely restaurant and atmosphere

The atmosphere had kind of a hipster feel to it, but it was quite cosy. The menu is varied and has some raw options, which I appreciate for when I'm back on the raw train :p Amazing chips! Very friendly staff. The dessert was great, I had a raw chocolate avocado cheesecake! My boyfriend had the sundae which was equally amazing. Will definitely be coming back!

Pros: friendly staff, lots of options, nice atmosphere

Cons: none

Great vibe, awesome simple food

From pizzas, burgers and sandwiches, to kaley salads and zingy Thai stir fry’s; everything in Mono is 100% free from animal products and 100% delicious. It’s so exciting to eat some good old filling grub without the pretention of a fancy vegan restaurant! Hang around long enough and you can also catch an awesome local band as you sip on their great selection of beers and ales.

Pros: Live music , Awesome pizza, Great salads

Cons: Nothing!

lovely food and very child friendly!

This was a treat for me because I love the Scottish classics and have missed them since going vegan. The battered sausage was delicious! The place is cool but quite noisey as very child friendly!

Pros: Scottish classics in vegan form

Cons: lots of small children so noisey

Amazing Food!

I've visited Mono several times and the food has been fantastic each time.

Seitan burger, pizzas, chips, macaroni and cheesecake (possibly the best cheesecake!) are all delicious and are reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is great and the decor is 'unusual' and 'rustic', it's very nice!

Pros: Inexpensive, Great selection, Desserts!

Cons: Service is a little slow sometimes
