Peri Satisfactory Indeed - Edit
Please forgive the exceedingly lazy titular pun, but it does encapsulate quite nicely the experience of dining here. Never can it be said that this is an upscale chain – purveyors of high-class cuisine, they are not – but if you’ve got an itch for consistent, slightly above-average fare that needs scratching, this is definitely the place for you.
Read moreThis is in no way to disparage what they do; in fact, I think it’s commendable. To know that the meal you are about to get is going to hit a certain level of appeasement is a luxury that isn’t always afforded to plant-based eaters in predominantly heathen venues.
Right from the off, the starters delivered on this expected promise. Both the hummus and the olives were exactly what you want, but the star of the show (as always) was the red pepper dip. What alchemy they use to produce delectable dip, I don’t know; it baffles me every time.
From here on out, the menu did take a bit of tweaking, but it in no way impinged on the final product. Case in point being the quinoa salad. Even without its intended Greek diary addition, it was robust and substantial enough that it could (read: actually does, for normal people) serve as a main dish.
Much the same can be said for the veggie pita. I find it hard to believe the inclusion of mayonnaise in what is already an adequately moist and tasty sandwich would be a vast improvement.
Rounding off this righteous repast were the two sides: the peri wedges and the batata harra. At first glance, they may seem to be one and the same, but each one brought something markedly different in terms of flavour, while both were as texturally perfect as you could wish for.
As stated up-front, this was an endeavour rooted in satiation and that is exactly what I got. When I’m back in the vicinity of this location again, it will be hard to resist the pull of the near-guaranteed contentment this restaurant offers.
