Excellent find - Edit
We had to have an overnight stay in Budapest en route to somewhere else. I picked the first place on the Happy Cow search and this was it. Really happy with our choice and would recommend it for their large and varied menu and really tasty food. We were 2 people and had 2 different soups and 2 different bowls - all delicious and we’d definitely go back. #Veganuary

I should've listened to the waiter - Edit
We ordered the lavish sharing platter for 2, the stuffed cabbage and the a la brasov dish. The waiter warned it was going to be too much but we thought otherwise. Oh. My. We were wrong! The lavish sharing platter was the biggest plate of food I ever received in a restaurant, it was insanely big! However, we stuffed ourselves silly because it was delicious😄we ate every last bite

Great vegan options - including fake meats - Edit
The menu is great and offers a wide variety of options. I went for the "Platter for 1" and included tofu bites, schnitzel, breaded cheese, rice, seitan and salad

My FAVOURITE restaurant in Budapest - Edit
We arrived in Budapest and immediately made our way to Napfényes Étterem. A few years ago I visited with my grandmother, a meat eating Hungarian. She said this was the best food she had while in Budapest (a difficult feat).
Read moreMy partner and I enjoyed the gyros platter, fried seitan platter, bean goulash soup, seasonal vegetable soup amongst a few other things.
We always grabbed some lovely cakes on the way out.
I will always recommend this place to others, the food is amazing, location is great and restaurant is well kept and clean.

Exceeded all expectations - Edit
The restaurant is very conveniently located, just next to Ferenciek Tere underground station. The staff are very friendly and helpful, willing to answer any questions. It is also really nice that employees speak both Hungarian and English, making the restaurant a good option for non-Hungarians.
Read moreThe menu is very extensive, with a good variety of both Hungarian and International dishes. The food was delivered quickly after being ordered, and tasted really good. The staff were happy to provide packed food also.

Try their hungarian cuisine! - Edit
I was worried because I didnt have a reservation, but staff was so kind and seated me anyway. They were super friendly and gave recommendations when asked for classic hungarian desserts. The food cake surprisingly quick, despite quite a few customers being there.
Read moreThe portion size was huge, I couldnt even finish it. I reay wanted to and fought, but it was just too much. The seitan was my favourite part, it was soft and buttery, almost like real beef.
The cake was tasty as well, crumbly and soft. A bit too sweet for my liking, but I think thats Just personal preference.
Pros: Customer service , Huge selection , All vegan

Great food, good selection, pseudo fine dining - Edit
Really glad we came here, great food, nice venue, friendly staff with plenty of seating.
Read moreThis could be casual but it also has a slight find dining feel to it. The staff were attentive and pleasant and the whole menu is vegan, life doesn't get much better.
We had Stuffed Cabbage à la Kolozsvár, Vegetable Ragout Soup with Tarragon (onion free), Raw ”Cheesy” Butternut Squash Spaghetti with Buckwheat Granola, Pesto-Cashew Parmesan Pizza, Coal Burner Pizza and a slice of Red Lentil Bread.
The soup was a bit light but it was nice nonetheless. Red Lentil bread we got just out of curiosity was lovely, it was airy and cheesy, it was really good.
Butternut squash was very good, good sized portion and had great cheesy flavour. The Stuffed cabbage was nice, I really liked it but would have loved a second stuffed cabbage roll as a main course.
Pizzas were enormous, and both of them were excellent, no complaints from the peanut gallery at all.
We didn't have desert but there were a number of choices that looked good.
Pros: Great food, location and service, Hungarian and fusion dishes available, Nice atmosphere
Cons: None

Large portions - Edit
Tried a couple of soups, the platter for one, and a veggie pizza. Both main dishes were reasonably priced considering how large they were. Neither tasted extraordinary, but better than most food we had in Budapest. The soups were definitely the best part though!

My favourite place to go in Budapest - Edit
It is hard to describe this with words. It is a proper restaurant. You can dress up nicely and have a great meal. The food is as authentic as it can get and the Hungarian in me strongly agrees. Every single time I visit Budapest, my first destination is Napfényes.

Wonderful Restaurant! - Edit
Couldn’t recommend enough!
Read moreVisited here on a whim and was amazed by how wonderful the food was and the huge variety of cakes and sweet treats that were available!
Had the seitan nuggets platter which came with salad, homemade tomato ketchup and small roasted potatoes - it was delicious!
Then afterwards we tried the dobos cake & also the white chocolate & raspberry cake, both were incredible! Couldn’t believe they were vegan!
The cakes were hard to choose from as they had such a variety, this included 2 types of Mille Fuielle, Russian cake, Lemon Puff cake, apple pie, different variety of cheesecakes, mignon and LOTS more!
Their pistachio ice cream was also dreamy!!!😍
Didn’t get a photo of anything as we ate it so quickly!😂

Incredible flavour! - Edit
I’m still thinking about the cold zucchini pasta. The taste was so reminiscent of sitting at the dinner table eating the stuffing out of a chicken with my sister talking about how it was always the best part of eating a chicken (ew). Seriously though, everything we had here was amazing, the portions were fair, as were the prices. My biggest critique is of the wait times for being served and food coming out. It felt like it took quite some time for us to place our orders, the staff seemed a little confused and quite new, and were prioritising rude customers who were seated after us instead. They were very friendly though, and any downside is so worth it to eat here. Delicious!
