Nestled within the Chiado district, Plant Base presents a concealed entrance that may easily be overlooked, as I initially did. However, upon entering, a remarkable transformation occurs. The interior is spacious and features two distinct dining areas: one situated near the entrance and the other situated around the corner, adjacent to the bar.
Read moreWhile the description of Plant Base suggests that it serves “junk food,” I strongly disagree. The culinary offerings here are exceptional. I have visited Plant Base twice within a week, and each time, I have been pleasantly surprised.
On my first visit, I indulged in The Special Burger, a delectable creation featuring a Beyond Burger patty, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, fried onions, tomatoes, cucumber pickles, and sriracha mayonnaise, all nestled on a red onion bun.
On my second visit, I opted for the JHOL MOMO, a culinary masterpiece consisting of steamed Himalayan Momos immersed in a delectable tomato curry, complemented by red onions and cilantro.
In my opinion, I have discovered my favorite Plant Base dish. The JHOL MOMO boasts a harmonious blend of flavors, with a touch of heat that resonated with my preferences. Its deep, rich taste left me thoroughly satisfied.

Nachos were amazing. One of the best I've ever had, a lot of ingredients that worked well together. Pizzas were top quality from oven and even non-vegan friends liked it and ordered more. Momo soup was brilliant. Staff were attentive. Great vibe.

I was very disappointed and had high expectations of this place. I ordered a vegan fish burger and the fries were overdone as was the fish which looked like a processed chicken fillet it was dry and tasteless and the bun was awful too. The place was warm and I was stuck in a corner and just needed to leave. Not the best but I only tried one item.

Seemed to be very popular the evening we went, but we managed to get a table without booking - it isn't a huge restaurant.

We certainly enjoyed our pizza and chilli momo. The garlic bread appetizer was probably my favourite. I really wanted a burger and was disappointed every patty was beyond meat. I like beyond meat, but it's so popular I prefer not to have it at an all vegan restaurant. The service was okay.

Read moreThe nachos and hot dog were really good. The nachos had a lot of toppings and definitely weren't soggy as I have seen them previously described. Good flavour, the cheese was melted, the sauce was nice and the gauc was flavourful. The beyond meat sausage in the hot dog is delicious and we really liked the pickles, they seemed home made
The tacos were pretty good, the seitan is good but there's actually a little too much of it and not enough of anything else to balance it out, a little more salsa would make them perfect
The onion rings were very average, it was basically just batter. The sauce on top was good though. This is an easy fix by jusy having bigger/thicker pieces of onion and less batter.
The mac and cheese was very disappointing, overcooked pasta, very strong pepper flavour and the sauce was a bit liquidy. We actually couldn't eat it. When the staff asked how the meal was we were honest about the mac and cheese, and they didn't charge us for it which was nice.
It's a nice venue and they have a good sized menu

Next, we indulged in the macaroni and cheese, which was nothing short of exceptional. Creamy, rich, and with that comforting, nostalgic taste, it was hard to believe it was entirely plant-based.
For our entrées, we chose the seitan tacos and the fish and chips. The seitan tacos were a delight, with a fantastic texture and bold, well-balanced flavors. Every bite was a perfect mix of savory goodness and satisfying crunch.
The fish and chips were another winner. The "fish" had a crispy exterior that paired perfectly with the chips. I'm not entirely sure what the fish substitute was made from—possibly tofu—but it was remarkably convincing and delicious. If anyone knows for sure, I’d love to hear!
Overall, the food at Plant Base is fresh, flavorful, and far from the processed fare you might expect from plant-based cuisine. This place is a true gem, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their menu.

It is a full vegan restaurant, with mostly fast food on the menu. We tried the onion rings and pizzas. They are quite tasty and the portions are sufficient. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is more for a lunch than a dinner, in my opinion. If you have cravings for burger, pizza, tacos this could be the place to go.

Was super excited to try this place but wasn’t what I was expecting. The atmosphere is meh. This is definately more of a lunch spot than for dinner I think. The sever seemed a bit absent and uninterested. We tried the seitan tacos which were nice but literally only had seitan strips inside. Said it was spicy but not spicy at all! Loaded nachos were a bit bare. Definately think adding something like beyond meat on top would make it nicer. Bathrooms were dirty and smelt bad even though a diffuser inside. I wouldn’t come back here unfortunately
