Game Changer

For me, this is still the vegan pace-setter in Barcelona. Quite a lot has changed here since our first visit in 2014 so I’ve updated my original review. It’s now 100% vegan for a start. This is an absolutely gorgeous intimate establishment serving intricately creative tapas style dishes in a splendid modernist but homely Barrio Gotico setting. For €29 you get a house appetiser followed by your choice of starter, main and desert or you can skip desert and pick another starter or something from the snack or breads menu such as their fabulous croquettes or a Catalan tomato bread. The food is truly excellent and prepared with dedicated precision. You will find some fantastic seasonal combinations here, the menu is dynamic and changes regularly. Rasoterra promotes the 'Slow Food' concept which puts emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and the distance traveled to reach the dining table. The natural wines here are selected very carefully which (in their own words) “mirror and showcase the lands that surround the city”. This is still unequivocally my top vegan establishment of all time.

Ok-ish

Maybe I just got unlucky, the arroz was very good but the rest only tasted like cumin :(

Inolvidable.

Just fabulous

Absolutely delightful. The food is as "precise" and as fascinating/playful with flavour as a fine-dining restaurant, but the atmosphere is relaxed and the price is fine. I was particularly happy to try their inspired twist on a local dish. Some of the zero-waste twists they use are also interesting/impressive, like the use of coffee grounds in one of the desserts. You should eat here.

Big call - one of the best!

The set menu was amazing with fine dining tastes in a relaxed service atmosphere. Everything was delicious and with four of us we were able to share and try almost everything on the menu. Also loved their choice of organic wines.

Pros: Original flavours, Variety of flavours, Delicious

Interesting place

We had dinner at Rasoterra and enjoyed the food. However, the staff was not very smiley and some of the dishes (e.g., the fideua) were not fully convincing. Overall we still recommend to try a cuisine that does not try to imitate animal products but that creatively centers around vegetables.

Exceptional

The best vegan restaurant in Barcelona I've been to. Great friendly & warm service, and exceptional food!

Rasoterra focuses on a zero waste & regional ingredients, offering a fixed menu on par with fine dining like quality at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is a bit more laid-back (in a good way).

Delicious Dining in Barcelona

For the finest food you can ever hope for visit this restaurant. Booking recommended or be disappointed.
Set menu includes starter, main and dessert at a mere €32 per person. Absolutely fantastic. Your food is not only beautifully prepared but also described as it is presented so you know exactly what you are about to relish.
Don't come to Barcelona without coming here.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: Nothing apart from don't forget to book.

Amazing spot 🤩

We went there to celebrate a birthday, and what a wonderful surprise!!
First the staff is so nice and the place is very nice.
But the food, it’s incredible! Everything is perfectly done, perfectly cooked with different techniques including fermentation to provide the best of vegetables.
I’m so happy to have been there and I can only recommend it.
Special mention for the tomato salad, the homemade tempeh and the aubergine which was the absolute best 😍

Excellent

Had a delicious 3 course meal for 32€. Also a great selection of natural wines.

The spicy aubergine main with crispy chickpeas was a standout, great combination of flavours and textures.

Booking ahead recommended, they were able to accommodate me arriving when they opened but turned away some other groups as they were fully booked.

Amazing starters

Fast, cute environment, great starters.
Booked this place as a date night for our first few days in Barcelona. We arrived right when it opened and took our seats. The price wasn’t bad for a nicer meal spot. We got 4 starters and 2 meals, no deserts. The meals weren’t that great but the starters were amazing! We would totally go again just to try those four dishes one more time.
My experience was good with the food but the staff in the beginning seemed almost inconvenienced having us there, didn’t seem positive or willing to talk. One of the workers just seemed to glare and when we ordered water she came and just slammed the bottle on our table and left, but for the table beside us she came over and gently poured the water into there glasses for them and smiled. Maybe I did something and didn’t realize it, or maybe just they were having a bad day, it made for a more “funny” stay, giving us something to talk about later. The server, who I think may have been an owner possibly, was also very quiet and stand offish until we complimented the food and said how much we loved the food so far. His face lit up with a smile and he thanked us a few times and retreated to the bar.

Maybe they don’t get travellers much, maybe they were having a rough day, maybe I did something I didn’t know. It was just strange but overall didn’t make my time there bad. I would still recommend for people to go there, skip the desert and get the extra starter instead. Try them all and be happy.

Pros: Starters

Cons: Staff came off as rude, Mains weren’t flavorful.

Fresh and tasty food

Locally sourced vegetables are turned into tasty and interesting dishes without adding processed ingredients. It is a 3 course meal and they recommended each having different dishes and sharing. This was like a tasting menu as the dishes came out one at a time. Great flavours. The prune cake was particularly good.

Pros: Completely vegan, Low food miles, Friendly

Best vegan meal of our trip

You should definitely eat here - 100% plant based and hands down the best food of our stay. Fixed price menu, which I think changes regularly, so not sure if the things we had will be available but we loved the Fideuá, the wasabi truffles, the tomato and nectarine starter and the croquettes. Dishes are creative, beautifully presented and delicious. It was hard to choose from so many wonderful vegan options. Also a number of great alcohol-free drink options as well as an array of alcohol - I saw the staff inviting others to try different wines to help choose the one they wanted. The staff were great, very friendly and very reassuring that allergies were well understood. A lovely environment - we went on a Friday and it was necessary to make a reservation, not sure about other times but the restaurant was full and they had to turn people away. Including an amuse bouche, we had an exceptional 5 course meal plus a couple of drinks each (one drinking alcohol) and it was 80 euros. A must visit.

Insuperable

Des de la filosofia com a restaurant ( productes de proximitat, atenció i descripció dels plats) fins a l'explosió de sabors, textures i composició del propi plat.
Tot i que les quantitats no eren excessives eren les justes i necessàries. Prou correcte preu - quantitat.

Pros: Atenció al client, Menjar de proximitat , Bo, saludable

Cons: Cal reservar amb antelació

Disappointed... but try for yourself!

We were excited to go here (we went on Sunday the 9th of June 2024). But we were disappointed. We have been to more fancy/experimental places before. But these flavour combinations were just really not for us. It feels like they are trying to be unique, which we appreciate, but for our taste the flavours were just not working out well.. This is all subjective of course. You should find it for yourself!

We also felt a bit uncomfortable. We had a reservation for about an hour or so before their closing time. We felt a bit rushed out. Even though they of course gave the possibility for this reservation on their website.

Fast but Fancy

Came here with a reservation, probably a must as they seem popular.

Optional starters. Amuse bouche was a small pickled dish that was amusing. first courses were an ajoblanco that was delightful, and kohlrabi. Second course was fideua (salty) and almond tempeh (very interesting and good). Dessert were strong wasabi truffles and a strawberry pink peppercorn dish (alright).

Service was fast but friendly. Odd though that we were told they needed the table back soon when other tables of two had sat down before us…Would be back, maybe.

Excellent food

These people are real food masters. Wonderful to have the appetiser and the explanation of the food when dishes arrived. I had the beetroot starter, almond tempeh main, and the chocolate wasabi truffles (wow!). All an absolute delight (the starter was just a little oily). Very rich and filling. The sparkling white wine is beautiful. I initially made the mistake of ordering an Aperol spritz, which did not go with the food and they were kind enough to take it off my bill.

However, unfortunately I found the atmosphere slightly strained and one of the staff was particularly brusque and unpleasant (I was actually taken aback by the way they spoke to another diner). Hence the four stars.

5 stars fine dining experience

I went there in a very unusual scenario, with my grandparents who are not vegan. They actually were very curious about their menu and the whole philosophy of the place: sourcing local products, km 0 ingredients, etc. We had an amazing dinner. Would definitely recommend it.

Delicious food

Very tasty food, difficult to make a choice, tempting options. Not too happy with service towards the end, left a sour aftertaste. A staff member apologized. Please inform customer at the very beginning that the table will be rebooked!

Pros: Tasty food, Food beautifully presented

Cons: No notification at start that table was rebooked, Waitress called me babe

Simply wonderful

We have tried many vegan places in Barcelona, and I have to say, not all are cut from the same cloth. While some are quite tasty, not many can be as innovative, creative and as delicious as Rasoterra. We had tried other higher end vegan restaurants and Rasoterra was one of the best we’ve been to. Each dish presented hit all the right senses, from the stylish plating to the taste and texture of the food. The staff were very informative regarding the excellent organic wines and the set menu. We would definitely go back the next time we’re in Barcelona. Thank you Rasoterra for a memorable meal!
