Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Delicious Czech entrées

The restaurant itself was very cozy and welcoming. I tried the Czech style Gulasch for my main meal and Halusky as an appetizer. They were both really good! The service staff was helpful and kind. Thank you!

Pros: Great Czech food, Cozy atmosphere , Friendly staff

Highly recommended

A large venue, interesting decor. Staff were very friendly. Has a range of classic vegan cafe dishes (eg burgers) and also some Czech dishes. I had the scrambled egg, which was perfect. This was my first vegan schnitzel and I expected more, but the accompanying potato salad made up for it. Of the vegan places I went to on my weekend break, this was one of the best.

Delicious comfort food

We had the chilli burger and the poutine with jackfruit, both were delicious! The venue has a very casual and cosy feel to it, a nice break away from the city. Good vegan options for Czech cuisine on the menu.

Must Go when in Prague!!!!!

This purely vegan restaurant is not only a fantastic social project, but it also serves amazingly delicious food. In our three days in Prague we came here two days in a row because the many options all sounded so interesting and if I could have tried them all I gladly would have. I can’t praise it highly enough. You must also try the cakes…. they are fantastic!

Pros: So much choice…, Great tasting, fresh and well prepared food, Lovely staff!!!

Cons: None!!

Nice food, nice place

Unique that the employers have or had social 'difficulties', so if you eat there, it's a kind of charity. Five stars for just that. But the food is very tasty, and a pmace has a good atmosphere. And the U Fleku is just some meters from there ;)

Pros: Opportunity to support socially disadvantaged pp, Tasty food, Good atmosphere

Cons: No :)

Need to give a 2nd chance

When arriving in Prague after a long journey, I was happy to find this place still serving food after 21:00 near to my accommodation. The interior feels more like a café than a restaurant to me. I had the dumplings, which were really tasteless; Only the red cabbage added some flavor, but it was too sweet too.

Pros: Friendly staff

Comfort food that makes the world a better place

Even just for the social concept I would recommend this restaurant. They employ people who have experienced homelessness and/or have a criminal record. Eating there is an excellent way to both be a tourist and support a local social project! On top of that, you can buy a lunch 'paid forward' that they will serve to someone in need.
The food are traditional and recognisable dishes like gulash, burgers and kebab, all vegan. They also have good looking deserts but I was already fully satisfied after the main dish. Staff is friendly and quick. Went there twice on a 4 day visit to Prague.

Pros: All vegan, Support social project, Comfort food and deserts

Above and beyond great food experience

The Strecha is setting the bar high even for other vegan restaurants. Not only is this restaurant good for the environment and the animals, but it is good for the community, too.
Their program actively helps people facing various hardships. If you can spare a few euros (or bucks, or quids, or koruna) please do contribute by buying a pending lunch.

We also think that this place is cheaper than other vegan restaurants in Prague.

As far as the food goes, everything was delicious, ribs and dumplings are highly recommended. They have a fair array of desserts as well. Special mention must go to the hot chocolate (never had a more delicious one.)

The staff is friendly and super helpful.

Considering the quality of the food and what the whole place stands for and does for the community, this is hands down the best vegan restaurant (and vegan place) we have ever set foot into.

Could not recommend more!

Pros: Many options, Affordable , Social impact

Good food

I had the daily menu, gulash soup and a czech meat sauce with dumplings. For dessert I had a brownee and a coffee. Food was good but it lacked that little something for me to give 5 stars. Especially the cake was too sweet and nothing special.
I would come back though, since the menu has many things I would love to try and as I said was overall good!

So good!

Very cool to try Czech food in vegan form. I had a soup and a plate of big filling dumplings, which were great but so wonderfully stodgy that they almost defeated me, and then a piece of chocolate cake with banana pieces and the thickest layer of cream ever. Highly recommend!

If you want to try Czech cuisine, this is the place to go

Nice and cosy place that is which employs people in need. Which means that in addition to good meal you will enjoy, you will also contribute to a good cause. I´ve tried ,,Bryndzové halušky". The portion was large and the taste same as I remember it from the time when I was not vegan. If you in a mood to try clasical czech cuisine I recommed this place for sure.

Pros: large portions, good taste

Cons: waited a little longer for someone to take order
