Great food with a great mission - Edit
We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
Read moreWe ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Mediocre at best 🫤 - Edit
Was very excited to get to try some vegan Czech specialties so I ordered the goulash with bread dumplings and a salad, my friend ordered a kebab wrap. It took 50 minutes until our food arrived, no explanations as to why it took so long. The goulash was a huge disappointment: on the menu it said it comes with vegan soy meat but it was just a sauce with bread dumplings and raw onions on top, no vegan meat, no protein. The salad was very oily and thus heavy, but at least it made up for the lack of calories in the goulash lol. The kebab wrap was tasty. All in all I wouldn’t go back.

Cons: Endless waiting time, Goulash not as described on the menu

Great but just short of fantastic - Edit
I wish there was a 4.5 rating because I think this is where this would fall.
Read moreI'm happy to have tasted Czech food, and it was well presented, affordable, and served quickly. They also have a great mission.
The fake meat was average at best however, as others have commented. If it was part of a more complex meal I'd probably not mind so much, but it's quite central here.
Would I go back? Definitely.
Pros: Affordable , Quick , Traditional
Cons: Fake meat was meh

I had a long island iced tea which blew me off my socks (in a good way). I ate the (vegan) ribs which were DELICIOUS. My husband had the schnitzel with potato salad which was really good. The only thing he missed was a small salad, but we order one to share as a side. Only the dessert was not to my taste, but my husband did like it.

Decent but nothing crazy - Edit
Coming from the rating on HappyCow, I was expecting better.
Read moreThe schnitzel were hard and the potato salad fairly bland.
The dumpling were not the best ones I had in Prague either.
Overall the food was decent but felt like minimum effort for the price.
Pros: Czech cuisine
Cons: Lacked refinement

Great mission, humble food - Edit
Very fun way to try more authentic Czech food with a fantastic cause. The food we had was really nice, but it did take quite a while to come. However the staff were very sweet and apologetic.

The cocktails aren’t great, especially the mojito which was pretty much just fizzy water with rum in but they were very cheap compared to ireland prices! Over all a couple of little niggles but not worth knocking a star off for! ☺️
Pros: Delicious food, Fully vegan
Cons: Slow service, Poor cocktails (I’d stick to the beer!), The chairs and tables were very wobbly

So Satisfying - Edit
What a wonderful option to get to try traditional dishes, and while it’s been over a decade since I’ve had animal meat, I’d be surprised if this menu isn’t every bit as satisfying and delicious. I loved the ribs and onions and the salad was light and a perfect balance, and the bread and spread were fantastic too. Looking forward to to my next visit already!:)

What a lovely idea - Edit
The dumplings are incredible and very filling. The portion sizes are very big but very affordable. The staff are all very lovely and the decor is done well too. I do think they could do better at how the other plates looked as presentation I think is important. Overall was a lovely meal though and I would visit again for the same meal.

Food is 5 stars but the service isn’t that good - Edit
The food is super tasty and even my non vegan friends really enjoyed it. It’s the best vegan food in Prague we had. But the service is slow and they don’t seem like they want to be here tbh.

Strecha stands on three pillars. One of them is social employment. People that work in Strecha might have experience with homeless life, prison sentence and others. That is why service might be little bit different than from other restaurants.

Super traditionell tschechisches Essen - Edit

Good food and atmosphere - Edit
A good place to stop for a decent meal that will fill your belly and warm your soul. The food isn't anything over the top fancy, but it's good comfort food, the portions aren't extremely big but we found them perfectly filling and very reasonable for the price. A very nice way to rest from our journey to Prague, try some Czech cuisine the vegan way and learn about the ways Střecha helps the local community. Highly recommend! It's easy to miss though since there wasn't clear signage outside so pay close attention.
