Convenient vegan grab n'go - Edit
I really love the selection of prepared vegan foods at the back of the store- sandwiches, wraps, prepared salads, veggie proteins, lasagna, mac & cheez, cheezcakes, pie slices, tiramisu, cake, crepe rolls. The raw desserts are a little pricey (~$12/piece), so I only tried one- the berry crepe rolls. I enjoyed it and would get it again as a splurge. I also got a walnut/carrot muffin, greek salad, pesto chick'n salad for a picnic lunch and all were fairly priced for NYC and tasty. The location is easy to get to on foot as well.

Westerly Health Foods - Edit
They have everything you could possibly want here… This is a massive health food store. I personally think the pricing is fair given the quality of products.
Read moreI was looking for vegan protein powder and was surprised to see they had a very small selection compared to the massive vitamin and supplement offerings they carried. Nevertheless, there were so many vegan foods and products here that it was impressive. I’d recommend this place over Whole Foods any day.😄

Good for grabbing a quick late bite - Edit
Has a large variety of refrigerated/frozen vegan meals and desserts in the back and they're open until midnight. if you're hungry late and want more than just convenience store snacks this is a great option.

Large, health-oriented grocery store - Edit
This place in a mainstay in Hell's Kitchen. It is a large, well-kept, clean store--much larger than your typical health food store, yet not as humongous as Whole Foods. The store is well stocked, and the prices are on the par of other such stores in NYC. They also have a juice bar in the store.

I find everything here! - Edit
This is definitely the market I come to when I’m looking for something a bit more unusual (tea, supplements, CBD oil, personal care, and bath and body)... And I always find it too!

Love all the fresh soups - Edit
Great selection of fruits and veg and soup bar in the back. A bit expensive but hey it’s New York what do you expect? Lots of options for vegans in the packaged foods, great staff. Sometimes food samples. Great price on organic bananas right at front door.

Great local health food store - Edit
Wonderful bulk selection, great soups, and a smoothie and juice bar in the back with fresh kombucha. Friendly staff and a huge inventory for a small space. Great vitamins as well.

Favourite health food shop in New York! - Edit
Found this place by chance and was absolutely amazed by how much choice there was- the shelves are packed and so high! They have pre made vegan sandwiches which were delicious and I can’t wait to go back to New York to try them again!

Better selection than at Whole Foods - Edit
This store is awesome. I have found many vegan cheeses and other produces that are not available at NYC Whole Foods. The selection is very wide, not only for vegan cheeses and faux meats, but also sweets, herbs and supplements. The prices are better, too!

You'll get everything - Edit
It seems that this grocery store is not too big. But don't let yourself be fooled by the outer front. This health store carries almost everything you can imagine for your healthy lifestyle. From cold pressed juices, over smoothies and raw food to ready-to-eat food. Just an amazing store!

My Favorite Grocery Store in Manhattan - Edit
This is just about my favorite grocery store in NYC. It's much cozier and intimate than Whole Foods (read: crowded, small isles), but less crowded and more relaxed. The selection is excellent for the size of the place, and they have all of the main staples any vegan or vegetarian could ask for, including a nice selection of the typical pre-made selections you find throughout the city: dumplings, mock chicken sandwiches, a hot food bar, a raw section, etc. Perhaps the best part is the produce: always exceptionally fresh, mostly organic, and lovingly displayed.
Read moreDoes it have everything Whole Foods has? Of course not. WF is huge, and has a TON of stuff, a lot of it not healthy at all. There's just something about Westerly that makes me feel good about shopping for food. Good vibes all around.
My only wish is that they had a little more space, and the produce prices are not cheap, but amazing organic produce isn't inexpensive. For us, the little bit of extra cost is worth for such great quality.
Pros: Wide Variety, Nice Atmosphere
Cons: Slightly Pricey Produce, Isles a little cramped

Fantastic place - Edit
This store happened to be just two blocks away from our hotel near Time Square. It was really convenient for us to pop in on the way out/back to get some supplies. Their selection was amazing, lots and lots of vegan-friendly goodies-grocieres, munchies, prepared meals, desserts, chocolate, ice cream, you name it. Basically it's like a Whole Foods, although much smaller and more local. Store was cramped with narrow aisles (understandably so considering how much they try to fit in the tiny space), but it was neat and tidy so browsing wasn't a problem. Loved the store hours as well!

Health Food Store Almighty - Edit
My all time favorite health food store in the world! Westerly has EVERYTHING. Great organic produce, vegan whole wheat options for EVERYTHING (they make vegan whole grain lasagna, dumplings, pad thai, etc, that you can buy already prepared and take away), raw foods, tons of beautiful ice creams, all the frozen products you could imagine, vitamins, and beauty products. I go here at least once a week (usually 3 times) when I am in New York.

A Health Food Haven - Edit
This place is the shangri-la I envisage! Covered with several different DNA samples(sweat) and nearly asphyxiated by a packed-like-edamame crowd, my friend and I had just left a concert at the Roseland Ballroom. Somewhat disappointed, we strolled around the nocturnal city until we stumbled upon this glowing palace! It was nearly 11:00pm and we were quite surprised that it was still open. It was certainly a beautiful sight, as we entered, we were greeted by an aisle filled with luscious produce, reasonably priced as well. The aisles are narrow and items are stacked until they reach the sky, it was as if being in someone's personal library. There was such a selection, I could have stayed in there all day to bask in its glory, but unfortunately, my friend didn't share the same enthusiasm over health food! There were aisles of vitamins, snacks, a section in the back dedicated to raw food, raw desserts, a bulk section, etc. I should have photographed its splendor, the image lingers in my mind. They also had quite a few sales when I went, like hemp milk for 2.99$! It's just unbelievable how much more affordable everything was, especially considering its location. I dream of the day I return, and definitely plan on visiting on my next trip to the city :D.

support small business - Edit
Hi, I love Westerly - it's a great alternative to whole foods, with the same food at better prices. and it's got a wide variety of health foods from different disciplines, from raw food, to macro food, to vegan food, to food for people who juice, etc. Sometimes I think the selection of packaged food is better than Fairway - and I always find this so with the organic produce. things actually go on sale there, too. It's a small but densely packed store.
