Could be better - Edit
Amazing that this exists now as it didn't during the 4 years I lived in Southampton. I had the fried chicken burger with fries, it was very good but I've had better. There's a lot of options, the place itself has a nice friendly vibe with plenty of seats. Will definitely visit again when in the neighbourhood.
Read moreI was back recently and had the fried chicken burger, it was huge but not that tasty & very messy to eat with all the dressing. A simpler but tastier burger would be better. The chips were really good though. I had the breakfast one day which was pretty good. I did see the cheesecake being taken out of a box so didn't bother ordering it.

Great cafe - Edit
Update Feb 2024 - Finally finally got back here after vowing to return, just very sad it took me 6 years. Really glad to see they are still going strong and I can see why as I personally think they might be even better than before, the burger is great still with a few nice tweaks like BBQ jackfruit and of particular note is their vegan fried chicken, the chicken is a great texture (better i feel than many of the flagship london vegan fried chicken) and the batter was just perfect, fried well, big knobbly and crispy without being oily. Great prices and really generous portions at the same time. Brought my non-vegan parents here and they also really enjoyed their food. Yet again their counter was full of amazing looking cafe but we sadly passed on this again as we had a pretty full on food weekend ahead.
Read moreSept 2017 - I ate here recently and we had a great experience. We both chose the "meaty" burger, it was certainly a big patty! We also tried the sides of onion rings, loaded chips and humous.
All the food was a really good quality, the toppings on the "meaty" burger were really good, it came with a nice mayo and cheese on top.
There were alot of customisation options for the burger which i liked (including things like onion rings, humous and has browns).
There were also a lot of nice looking cakes at the counter but we didn't have the belly space for those too!
The cafe was a nice size downstairs and they had plenty more seating upstairs too.
We found that they didn't serve the pizza before 5 so sadly we couldn't try any.
In all a very recommendable place to eat!

I love Cafe Thrive. - Edit
Latest visit Feb ‘24. Every time I visit Southampton I stop at Cafe Thrive. Usually I go for a bit of lunch but I always have to pick up a cronut. They have the best desserts. There’s always themed specials and in the summer you can grab a bite and take it to eat in the park opposite, but there’s plenty of seating inside too.

Cafe thrive has weekly specials that always make me excited. The owner, Lee, is so sweet, and makes the cafe a safe place to express yourself and enjoy food, baked goods, and hot drinks.

Favorite vegan breakfast! - Edit
I come here every time my ship docks in Southampton. All the food is delicious, my favorite is the full thrive breakfast and super green smoothie. They also have vegan treats, snacks, and cooking ingredients that you can purchase. The service and atmosphere are always great.

Rude staff - Edit
Rude staff. Wanted to go here to support them as part of a group and were told to go away as they don't serve groups. No clear policy on not having more than four people in to be served at a time. If you come with more than four friends you won't be served.

Great vegan cafe / store in the city center - Edit
We visited Southampton for a night and loved our Friday evening meal at Cafe Thrive so much, we came back for breakfast on Saturday and to take some treats home.
Read moreWe found it easily. It's easy to walk to from the waterfront and shopping center, with great views across the park from upstairs.
You find a table and then order at the counter and take your drinks to your table. The music was chosen by the staff, obvious because they were feeling it! Added to a nice atmosphere, it was great. We didn't wait long for food and it was delicious and I think, great value with good sized portions. We couldn't finish everything. My husband had the burger and said it was one of the most convincing meat patties he'd tried and loved it. I had the Big Thrive Bowl and it was delicious, balanced really nicely and filled me up. Couldn't fit in a dessert!
Our hotel had no decent vegan breakfast options for the fixed price they were charging so we came back here for breakfast the next day and brought some sweet treats from the deli counter to take home. Absolutely brilliant place, so many options and everything is vegan! I loved it and will recommend to anyone going to Southampton

Delicious vegan dishes at a very reasonable price - Edit
We have eaten here twice and were not disappointed either time! The meals are very generous for the price, lovely flavours and there's a mixture of healthier and naughtier dishes. Great choice of cakes at the counter as well, plus a few shelves of vegan sweets available to buy.
