Excellent choice for a nicer restaurant in the downtown area - Edit
Lots of options can be made vegan, salads come in two sizes. Red beans and rice are a delicious vegan option. Trust me, it’s hard to find vegan red beans and rice in NOLA.

Fresh, light, flavorful, and inventive flare. They did a fermented tea leaf salad some years ago that still haunts my dreams. Delicious!

We had a lunch here. Plenty of vegan option on the menu. The service was very average except the girl that took the order who was nice. and the food was pretty expensive for what it was. The location is nice.

Unique and flavorful - Edit
We loved everything we ordered except the Burmese tea leaf salad. That salad had such an overpowering and different taste that just turned off my husband and me. The Brazilian cheese bread was incredible! The Rico was delicious/Rico! My husband loved his salad that had pineapple and cashews (I can’t remember the name). We appreciated them getting us seated pretty quickly despite us not having a reservation. I recommend making a reservation. The service was super friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint is being surrounded by the humane hoax since this wasn’t a vegan restaurant. I would go back, even if just for the cheese bread.

Great vegan options! - Edit
One of the highlights of my trip! The beans and rice with sausage were top notch, but the real standout was the Brazilian bread. I don’t know how they made vegan cheese taste like that, but I will be dreaming about it forever! Tons of options, great ambiance and service, delicious cocktails, and delicious food! I wish I’d had time to go back, but next time!

Blown Away - Edit
Another banger. Was looking for a vegan friendly spot as my friends aren’t vegan despite Bobby and I rocking out some serious vegan soul food today. So after reading reviews I decided on Carmo. And wow.
Read moreWe were all pretty blown away by everything we got, and we went off. The meal had accents of Peru, Brazil and Asia. And it was tough to decide.
We started out with the Creole Seared Avocado, Sweet Potato Fritters, Broken Noodle Salad, the Carmo Salad.
Then I had a Brazilian Stew Special with amazing vegan sausage and they had another dish with Plantains and non vegan meat lol.
Lastly, I got Coconut Ice Cream and they had they Chocolate Kahlia Cake and Rum cake, both vegan. I also took a piece of each of the cakes back for later.
What a perfect experience. Them and I have done some serious eating especially in NY and Carmo was one of the best. Left feeling great.
And I wish I was here for the Amazonian dinner you could see in the pics. Just wow.

Delicious food and AMAZING desserts - Edit
Carma deserves five stars, but they are not entirely vega. I was blown away by the food. For appetizers, we ordered Vietnamese bread and quinoa sweet potato fritters. We ordered the curry dish, ceviche, and broken noodle salad as our main course, and one was better than the other.
Read moreThe chocolate desserts were the highlight; I would visit New Orleans just for these cakes. Carma was the best vegan dining I have had.
Pros: Fabulous food, Several vegan choices, The best chocolate desserts

Excellent Choice for those who follow vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten-free diets - Edit
Many dishes are or can be made vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten-free. Servers don’t look at you with quizzical expressions, which is refreshing. My husband ordered the special (Creole Tofu) and liked it, but then was dismayed to see it was $21 when we got the bill. We should have asked. My Esmeralda Salad was huge and fairly priced at $14; we both liked it very much. I got it vegetarian but could have had vegan cheese. Same with the Brazilian cheese bread. It was delicious and we ordered more. It was more like fried cheese than bread, but was a nice addition to our entrees.

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. A wide variety of Latin dishes that are either already vegan or can be made vegan by substituting vegan cheese and adding soy based “meat.” I had the vegan ceviche and rice and beans and both were fabulous!!

This is my go-to restaurant for gatherings of vegans, veggies and meat-eaters together. Its a nice atmosphere too, so I've been to several birthday dinners there. They can make pretty much everything vegan! My favorite are the vegan versions of the: Quinoa Sweet Potato Fritters, Broken Noodle Salad, Kottu Roti,Pão de Queijo and Rico... its all great!
