Fresh, unique, and delicious!

Small chain selling Xi'an cuisine. Quick counter service and basic seating at stainless steel fixed-position stools and long counter-style tables. Most dishes contain their delicious signature chili oil sauce. The handmade Liang Pi cold skin noodles are the main vegan options (regular-A1 or stirfried-A2) on the menu. They also have a spicy cucumber salad that was great too.

I'm so glad they weren't sold out of the cold skin noodles tonight and that I finally got to try this place on my second try. I ordered "regular" spicy and it was fairly hot, but totally manageable. The 4 spice levels are: none, mild, regular, and hot, and there is extra chili oil on the tables so you can adjust the spiciness level. They also have their own line of bottled cold teas (chrysanthemum, sour hawberry, and jasmine).

While the vegan options are limited to only a few dishes, they are clearly indicated on their menu. And their prices are reasonable for the area, too! If you are looking for a unique food experience, definitely give them a try if you are in the neighborhood.

Pros: Freshly made noodles, Clearly marked vegan options, Uniquely spicy deliciousness!

Cons: Serves meat, Vegan noodles are sold out sometimes , Limited vegan options

Incredible!!!!!

My first time trying Liangpi (Chinese cold skin noodles) was in Korea at a small shop and this was like I was transported back into my memories of studying abroad and eating this with my friends. Xi’an Famous Foods is incredible and I cannot wait for their new location to open in Flushing, Queens! I hope that they continue to expand across Long Island as well so I can eat here more often!!!! And like the sign says, if it's not spicy it's not good. And spicy is the way to go!

There are a few comments saying that it's "very" oily but its chili oil based, but thats how it's supposed to be. If you're not familiar with Western Chinese food and heat it can be a bit for some. But I thought it was perfection! My mom had the hand pulled noodles which were great as well!

Pros: Insanely delicious, Two locations in NYC, Opening new location in Flushing Queens

Cons: Need more locations on Long Island

Good but oily

Noodles are tasty but it’s just too oily for me to enjoy. Always busy tho and popular so it just depends on your taste.

Chinese food chain

This is a small restaurant chain, mostly for takeout though with some limited seating. It is not a standard Chinese restaurant; it specializes in Western Chinese food, and has a much smaller menu than typical. I found the food fine, but unmemorable. To be fair, I don't like spicy food, and this place prides itself on its spicy chili sauce, so I am not their ideal customer.
I am not sure that Happy Cow readers are their ideal customers, either: there is some vegan food, but not much; most of the food is meaty, including what seems to be more lamb dishes than vegan ones.

Pros: Specialty Chinese food, Good for quick take out

Cons: Serves a bunch of lamb dishes, Not too many vegan options, Not geared toward dining in

The stir fried noodles are amazing!

This is one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch to go. I used to go once a week because I fell in love with their noodles (A2 is my personal favorite). It's well priced, freshly pulled noodles, and you get a large portion. The tofu soup is great as well if you want a generous amount of tofu with a broth packed with flavor. Their house-made chili oil is out of this world and is used in almost every dish. Dependant on how spicy you like your food they can add more or even eliminate chili oil which can also be helpful if you do not like oily food. I'd recommend that anyone come here to experience the authentic Chinese cuisine, especially if you enjoy chili oil.

Pros: Great value, Fresh made noodles, Many locations

Cons: Can be oily , Few options

Too oily for me

This is a small branch of the popular NYC chain, with only seating for a few people. They pride themselves on their spicy chili oil, and while it is very good I didn't need a cup of it for my noodles to *swim* in. But these places are hopping, so clearly there are people who like food that way. I guess one could order it light on the sauce. At this writing I've only eaten there twice so haven't learned the tricks yet. I hear the dumplings are good. Oil aside, I did appreciate that there were a number of vegan options on the menu and that the noodles are freshly made... as in I saw the dude make them..

Pros: multiple locations, If you like spicy, you'll be pleased

Cons: Oily, Lots of meat being consumed
