SO GOOD - Edit
Heard many a time that UVK is great. Finally went because it was close by (23rd St CE station). Oh my goodness! Absolutely fantastic. The vibes are immaculate, with excellent music, decor and staff. I think the best chick’n and waffles in the city. Delicious loaded broccoli. The orange juice based mocktail with cinnamon was also divine. And what a treat to have a non alcoholic espresso martini!

Liked it better when it was Blossom - Edit
We ordered the Brussels and elote for apps. I really liked the elote but it needed fresh lime and more salt, mayo, spice, and mayo and cheese on it. It was almost there, just not quite. The Brussels were a waste, not very crispy and nothing flavorful about them at all. For dinner we had the tacos which were good but definitely needed a salsa or sauce, ended up asking for hot sauce. The other entree was the seitan and gravy. That was good but it kind of tasted like a Salisbury steak frozen dinner... in a good way. The potatoes were bland and nothing remarkable about them. Over all the meal was good I left happy but there were things just missed. If they went a little further with some aspects of the dish it would have been perfect. Also all the plates were mismatched and seemed cheap. Plating made it seem like a cheaper restaurant, along with the ambience. Tons of framed pictures of rappers, r&b, reggae music artists. Weird selection of music loudly played. The ambience and playing and service did not reflect the price of the bill, it seemed high. The server was nice but was not attentive and sat there for a while before we even got a drink order in. I liked it better when it was Blossom, that being said if they lowered their pricing and changed their plates and had better service and tightened up on their dishes I would come back because the meal was still good.

horrible service - Edit
Ate there at about 3pm on a weekday. The place was empty, with my party of 2 and one other single diner the only patrons. There were three staff members on the floor. (Server?busser?host? I never figured out who did what job.). But they were all so busy chatting behind the bar the entire time that we had to wave frantically every time we wanted something. Even then they weren’t in any hurry to come over to see what we needed.
Read moreI totally forgive wait staff when they are too busy to give good service. But it sucks when the service is bad because the restaurant is really slow and the wait staff is just goofing off.
The Blossom on the upper west side has better, though not great, service.
Too bad because I like the food.

Nice mood. On the pricey side. Pizza good. Chickpeas good. The rest is average to good but does not justify the price.

Great date night meal! - Edit
I enjoyed the Chick-UN and waffles, but I think my husband's Seitan and gravy was much better. I guess I prefer savory over sweet. Another reason to come back again.

It's ok - Edit
The waitstaff were fantastic. Everything else was simply ok. Luke warm brussel sprouts and a UVK burger with soggy fries. Maybe i ordered the wrong dishes? also, the music is really loud. loud enough that i kept my ear buds in to block out some of the noise.

Sometimes amazing, other times not - Edit
I have been 4 times in the past 3 months. The first 3 times were spectacular, each time we went for dinner. The latest time I was so excited to take a friend for lunch, and the food was really quite awful. I honestly don't remember what we had at this point, but it was a great disappointment. The service was good, staff has always been friendly and enthusiastic about e food. I will try again, maybe it was an off day. I had also hoped to get their cauliflower pizza, which was great, but they didn't have it the day we went for lunch. I have a feeling they do certain things well, but not everything, and you have to choose carefully.

Wow - amazing vegan soul food - Edit
The ambience is modern and cosy. The staff were very helpful, relaxed and friendly. So nice not having to worry about if it is vegan or vegetarian (the whole menu is vegan) We ordered Mexican corn, brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese with shitake bacon for starters.
Read moreVegan remoulade and Parmesan on the Mexican corn was much tastier than the dairy versions. The mac and cheese was top notch, and shitake bacon awesome compliment. The brussel sprouts were perfection and complimented the Mac and cheese well. For entre we had Seitan with gravy and mashed potatoes, unchiken waffles, and Mexican lasagne. All were delicious, but if I pick favorites it is the unchiken waffles. Desert was dreamy pecan pie with whipped cream and salted caramel ice cream.
Really awesome restaurant, must check it out if you are a vegan foodie.
Pros: 100% vegan menu, Delicious!
Cons: Maybe too small for large parties without reservat

late night gem - Edit
Brilliant, creative meals. I had the "chick'un and waffles" and my partner had the special- seared seitan, red wine gravy, green beans with almonds, potato mash. The waffles were perfect! Thick, lightly sweet, crispy outside and soft inside doughy deliciousness. They came with lovely sautéed kale, individual pieces of breaded seitan and a mayo style sauce. The service was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere felt very special. Best of all, they serve food until 11.30pm! A perfect treat between theatre and dancing.

Lovely dinner - Edit
My husband and I found this place on Apple Maps (surprise, it worked!) and had a lovely dinner. He had the Chick-Un Avocado Ranch Salad and I had the Lasagna with brown rice noodles. Both delicious but the salad stole the show. The crispy fried seitan and the ranch dressing were phenomenal. We finished with a chocolate salted caramel sundae and are fat and happy ☺️

I was in NYC for 2 weeks and made the rounds. Enjoyed Hush Puppies, love that you are vegan. I was disappointed as the service was just okay and did not seem at all invested in being vegan, was just a server serving food,

Great menu and place but... - Edit
I love the menu, traditional vegan cuisine, but the meat has no taste... the flavor are a bit too light, it needs spices and a little bit more cooking involved I believe. My opinion of course. I have been there twice, the dishes are great but as I said... lacking flavor and taste

Really bad service staff - Edit
We spend some days in NYC eating our way through restaurants and this one was by far the worst experience. Had a very overpriced starter of mushrooms wrapped in filo dough and some green sauce. As mains we had a burger with garlic fries (be careful with these fries. They are REALLY garlic-y. I can already smell my breath.) and a seitan steak au poivre. That steak ($22) was not nice and quite disappointing. The texture was weird and feeled like eating a big slab of liver. Sauce rather tasteless, same over-garliced fries. The burger was nice.
Read moreThe waiting staff showed no interest in their customers. We waited a long time until being served, the glas of water was mostly empty, I had to ask for cutlery for my main after 3 different waiters made their way to our table (one after finally pouring water, one after bringing some wine and the third with the mains) and they all seemed to behave very ignorant and arrogant. The restaurant was not even ⅓ full. Don't want to imagine their behaviour in a full place. Very disappointing.
The room itself is very pretty and is located in a good neighbourhood. If only the staff had more customer service training and someone had tasted the food before being served to paying customers.
Pros: Nice neighbourhood
Cons: Waiting staff, Overpriced, Garlic fries

Tasty upscale restaurant - Edit
I don't normally visit expensive restaurants, but since I was visiting NY, I figured I'd have to try Blossom. We choose the Carmine location... I think they have 5 locations. It was delicious. My two non-veg friends that joined me agreed, and enjoyed their meals. We also shared a brownie-a-la-mode dessert and devoured it, even at the shocking price ($15.) Great food, if you're willing to pay for it. Check the hours before you go, I think they open at 10:30, so don't go early.

Everything Was Great! - Edit
Food, service, menu, drinks, ambience-- all was classy and first rate. Eclectic vegan menu with creative flavor combinations. Had dinner on a weeknight without a reservation, but calling ahead is recommended. Had the Taco Trio (very good), seitan scallopini (which was stacked on top of the mashed potatoes--wonderful) and a Jaguar Ride (different). Like all the NYC Blossom locations, you can't go wrong here for a gourmet vegan meal.

Delicious and worth the price! - Edit
Lovely intimate atmosphere, lower level dining area would work well for parties or private dinners. Wonderful and broad menu selections. Amazing beverage and dessert options! Try the spring berry tea or elderberry lemonade. We didn't try the cocktails. Only bummer, the espresso machine was not working when we were there and mushroom "bacon" used in salad seemed burnt.
Read moreSushi was great but they didn't have chopsticks. Apparently it's a new dish. Beet carpaccio, lasagne dish and polenta dish were all excellent. Our teenagers were happy with salads, fries and a flatbread pizza.

Cafe Blossom has a reputation for some of the best vegan food in NYC. I've been to the West Village location several times. The food is a bit hit or miss depending on what you order. Try the black-eyed pea cakes, they are delicious.

Good food, but strange menu - Edit
The first time I had gone to Café Blossom was sometime in June 2013, and I was unimpressed -- much of the menu were soy-based imitations of classic non-vegetarian foods. I've recently gone back (with a Groupon!) and they had completely reworked the menu with creative vegetable dishes, which I far prefer. I ordered a refreshing salad and patties of mushrooms and sea vegetables, followed by an amazing peach cheesecake. However, in spite the improvements to the food itself, the way that the menu is organized seems really weird to me -- it only has "snacks" and "small plates" and some sides, and the small plates drastically vary in size (for example, you can order a single, tiny raw taco for $3 or an entire pizza for $15). If you go, go with at least one other person and split a few of these small plates. Also, the atmosphere is pretty sleek and dim-lit, which is not a bad thing (good for a date!), but I personally prefer more of a granola vibe!

My favorite restaurant - Edit
This is my favorite restaurant in the city, and the best of the Blossom chain. For appetizers, get the trumpet mushroom scallops or chickpea fritters. For entree, get the risotto or flatbread pizza. Not everything is good -- for example, the seitan dishes are only ok, and the desserts were all disappointing. But there's so much deliciousness here, you have to come try it.

We had awesome gourmet meals! Everything is well presented and delicious. We had the seitan steak, sliders and the chickpea fritters (which melted in our mouths) plus great desserts (the banana cake was superb). The desserts are a little pricey.
